This is our nth time and family's favourite to dine in. But in this particular Thursday June 29 my son's graduation our experienced was not great as compared before. We have to ask to every refill of our sweet iced tea, the top sirloin steak that we order was bland, the ribs was not as tasty as before. Salad and appetizer was okay over all dissatisfied with our dining experience on that night.
The food was not as good as what I expected. Chicken was too salty, the ribs were burned and the losters were too dry. My previous experience with the food there was great and I loved to spend my special occasions dinner at Baton Rouge. The service was good though. But I was really disappointed at the food and it was not worth it at all.
Not that great. The chefs don't know how to make steak. Can't tell the difference between a blue steak and a rare steak as well as a medium rare and a well done steak. Lobster was also over cooked to the point that it was hard to bite into. Learn to cook better. But service was great. Our waitress was really nice and attentive.
I used to enjoy this restaurant a lot more in the past. Recipes have changed for the worse. The walnut brownie which used to be my favourite dessert was very dry!
Our family experience was not a good one. Made a reservation for Fathers day 2017. Arrived and it was not busy at all. They sat us in a corner section and completely forgot about us. We waited 15 minutes before I got up to find a staff member to help us order. They waiter arrived and admitted nobody knew we were there. The food we ordered arrived in time (apps and main). The fries and chicken for my kids tasted like it was fried in old oil and smelled immediately upon arriving to our table. We asked to exchange it and were offered another option instead. The pasta for my kids was the other option and it arrived cold. And didn't look presentable at all. Just pasta plopped on a plate. No garnish or anything. The brownie and ice cream tasted like it was from a box and smelt stale. Compared to other dinner restaurants, tbis place was bad on this day. Thr manager did not look interested when we told him of our experience. They did comp 1 kids meal.
The service was great and so was the food. The wait times for food was rather long but the server and manager checked up on our table of 5 and engaged in conversation. The server packed my food away for me, suggested food items and wished my dad a happy fathers day. The ribs were great, the chicken was a little dry but good. The peanut butter brownie cheesecake was good, was more of a moose texture. Food was filling.
Server was great. Cocktails and food took far too long to arrive given it was not busy.
The experience was great my family really enjoyed themselves and would go again tomorrow if they could.
would recommend to anyone who wants value for their money.
The staff and the chef were exceptional
The prime rib and veggies were perfectly cooked. The garlic mashed potatoes were not good and we went specifically because my husband wanted garlic mashed potatoes. They tasted like they were from a box and neither of us could taste any the garlic.
The waiter started out doing well since we were the only ones in that side of the restaurant. He asked if I wanted water but never brought it and left us waiting too long at the end of the meal when he said he'd back soon so we went elsewhere for dessert.
Food was just OK. Our server was new (first day solo) but she did a great job and was really friendly.
Food tasted fine but COLD. Had to ask for peppercorn sauce and other sauce as they were forgotten. Items served not as described on menu, overpriced will not return. All the service staff were friendly too bad the food was not served hot. Not a romantic place very noisy. Lots of families with young kids if you like noise it would be fine. We wanted a romantic dinner away from our kids.
Unfortunately, this was a negative experience considering it was an occasion set up for my birthday with immediate family members. We were told after 30 minutes of our order that they had exhausted their inventory of sweet potato fries and we had to substitute.....and an order of steak and lobster was not desirable as the meat was harder than concrete.
This really made our dinner experience a wash out considering we had planned this for some time.
Good food, good ambiance but pricy for a familly meal.
I have been to Baton Rouge many times and this time it was for a birthday celebration. Our server was very friendly and accommodating. The food came out in a timely manner, no issues with the food and it came out fresh and cooked to our liking.
I Love This location because of management and staff !
The service was okay, but the ambiance wasn't on par for a restaurant of that caliber. We asked if we could substitute an item due to food restrictions and we were told no due to 'corporate'. Not worth the money and not an experience we were expecting from Baton Rouge. It didn't live up to the hype.
Very impressive food and service quality. Will definitely come back again 😊
Enjoyed the experience overall. Liked the online reservation feature and they also took my preference/request into consideration even to the point where it was referenced by the Hostess. Service was good as well. Food was on par with my last experience at this location. Can`t wait to come back!
I would highly recommend The Baton Rouge in The Old Scott House for a special event, party or just a lovely dinner. Thank you for such a fabulous party. It was warm and inviting as always, and Chris took such great care to make our dinner perfect. We had a wonderful 80th birthday party for my Mom - everything was handled impeccably. Chris's team kept in touch with me prior to the event, the private room and table was all set up when we arrived early to add some decorations, and service through the entire evening by Chris and Derrick and the rest of the serving team was attentive, respectful and top notch. We all chose our favourite meals from the extensive menu - all delicious and all served simultaneously! Quite a feat with a large group. Medium rare steak was juicy medium rare. Fall off the bones ribs were the special of the day, and the choice of half our group, with delicious garlic mashed potatoes, fresh local seasonal veggies, and loaded and stuffed baked potatoes, which elicited "mmmm" exclamations. Then a perfect finish - the melt in your mouth desserts; light as air white chocolate raspberry cheescake, creme brulee and scrumptious apple crumble. A special birthday platter appeared at the perfect time with Mom's chosen dessert, a lighted candle and Happy 80th Birthday decoratively written in glossy red icing on the platter. We relaxed and enjoyed family and present opening in conjunction with coffee and dessert. A wonderful time and many great memories!
We went for a birthday celebration with the family. I asked for a reservation for 7 including 2 high chairs. When we got there the table was set up for 15 people and the reasson we were told was they had no tables for 7. I guess if you ask for a table for 7 the next best thing is to give you a table for 15. Looking around there were 3 tables for 8 being served. I asked them to remove the extra chairs and table and this was done. We all ordered and the meals came in a normal amount of time. One meal which was a prime rib and was requested to be well done, came out rare and it was sent back. When it came back again it was still rare and had to be sent back again. In the mean time everyone else was eating and almost finished by the time the meal came back again, finally cooked properly. Instead of telling us that to get a well done prime rib it had to be grilled as opposed to au jus we were not told and thus it was finally brought out correctly after the third time and at that time we were told it had to be grilled. This information should have been forthcoming when the meal was ordered. The person whose meal was brought late rushed to eat since everyone else had finished. We also ordered a childs meal and the drink and dessert did not come until we had to ask for it. It ruined a wonderful day with family and I was very upset. I had a rehearsal dinner for my son and daughter in law 4 years ago at the same restaurant and there were no issues. I will not recommend this to anyone and feel that after spending over 200$ for a meal I was let down and extremely disappointed.
Awful server who seem clued out to the world around her. Very slow service and loud atmosphere. But good quality food, although it was over priced for the amount of food you got
My husband and I went for the ribs. We were seated at 6:30. Another party seated next to us was served before us.
Our server did not come to our table. We waited maybe 10-15 min and still no one. We left rhe table anf in passing the hostess I said no one came to our table and the next table was served before us (probably a different server).
At least if someone would say I will be with you shortly.
We went to Canyon Creek and were served amazingly.
We had an amazing time - thank you to the Baton Rouge Staff at the Scarborough location! We definitely recommend this restaurant.
Wasn't the greatest experience but the manager and staff were quite pleasant, friendly and very apologetic in regards to our Baton Rouge experience.
We enjoyed the Spinach Dip appetizer. My dinner partner ordered the Steak Oscar, which was unremarkable, in comparison to the same entree at the Keg the previous evening. The lobster tail had an almost rubbery consistency to it. I chose the Lobster Risotto, which was mediocre at best. There was very little of the actual lobster, and the Risotto, while nicely cooked, had a chalky finish to the sauce. The Rufino Chianti helped the meal, but the Creme Caramel and Apple desserts were both too sweet. For a birthday celebration, we were not impressed. All in all, this was the first and probably the only visit we shall have to your establishment.
Poor slow service. Food was cold, server did not show up to see how our meal was which was bad since restaurant was not busy.
Very disappointed in the service. Everything we ordered was not delivered promptly or at the same time. Half of us had drinks, appetizers were staggered, mains arrived haphazardly and my husbands meal was cold. We had to call the server back to the table are father she cleared a couple of dirty plates without asking if we needed anything. The wine arrived at the same time as cocktails. My cocktail went untouched. More staff training is needed.
Good overall. The top sirlion salad was ok, except way too much dressing. Made it difficut to enjoy the fabulous steak because the blue cheese burns the tongue from the saltiness. Would recommend dressing on the side.
Food was great, service was great, but there was an unusual amount of fruit flies.
Steak was excellent. Service was friendly. Good experience.
I've visited the Baton Rouge in Scarborough a number of times. The food is consistently good. The service is generally also good. We had a particularly good waitress when we went for New Year's Eve. The Baton Rouge resides in what was once the Old Scott House which adds some character to the establishment. Overall a good experience. I would recommend it for a family outing or gathering.
Very friendly service. The burgers were good as was the chicken. The only thing I would change about Baton Rouge is the outdated décor. It's a bit masculine, but perhaps that's the whole point.
I asked for water after tipping our server 20%. She told me that the restaurant was closed and indicated we should leave! It was 10:00 pm (Christmas dinner with old friends) and there were at least 7 other tables in the restaurant. We have gone there for the last 3 years for our Christmas friends dinner. Never again!
We received. Different appetizer than ordered. We didn't receive a salad that we ordered, nor did we get the sauces for our steak we asked for. The shrimp were replaced with scallops. Lastly, our steaks were pretty much rare and we ordered medium well.
I also had water spilled on me.
But! We could tell that the waitress wasn't having a great night. So we didn't complain.
Ordered filet minion medium and got well done. They made another but I still had to pay for it unlike the Keg where they comp your meal if they cook it wrong. They did offer free dessert though and the manager came to check on us.
The host seated us and we waited quite a while for a waiter to come offer drinks or take an order. Although we were among friends and enjoyed the company, the service took way too long. Even when we were waiting for a machine to be brought over to pay or bill - the waiter brought one machine and took almost 10 min to return when the machine wasn't working.
Had a birthday dinner, service was good, place a bit noisy, we ordered signature steaks, mine was good, but a friend ordered medium and he got rare and the other who ordered medium got his well done. The seafood dish is good. Appetizer crab cake is tasty but it's barely warm and the shrimp is over cooked. Overall, we had a good evening but you have to take your chance on the food.
We had our departmental holiday lunch at Baton Rouge, and the food, service and atmosphere was fantastic!
Unfortunately the kitchen and bar staff may have been having an off night. The first drink I ordered was awful, (margarita) however my wife's drink was excellent. I sent the drink back and the next two drinks were excellent. We had to send our entrees' back. My wives rainbow trout was overcooked as was my medium prime rib. My wife had her rainbow trout substituted by red snapper although the trout was catch of the day. My prime rib was closer to well done and was replaced by a rare piece of meat. The Manger or perhaps the assistant manager did everything he could to rectify the problem as quickly as possible and was appreciated.
Reasonable comfort food. The Iron Chef meal while tasty, wasn't quite as good as anticipated.
