Bâton Rouge Steakhouse & Bar - Halifax Ratings and Reviews
Meals were very good and staff excellent The appetizers took a long time but we did not complain. We were surprized that we were not charged for the appetizers. I think that means something that staff realized the delay and did something for us without having to complain
Son's 18th birthday - had a great experience. We all loved our food. Everything was timed nicely, not rushed or too long. Excellent service from Zahara(?)
Our steaks were ordered the same but two different degrees of doneness, but they were tender and both very good. Hubby loved his ribs. Walnut cake was excellent.
Thank you again.
My husband and I had an early (5:45pm) reservation for supper. We were celebrating my husband's upcoming 40th birthday by have a "staycation" in Halifax (dinner/show/hotel). We were both extremely happy with our supper experience. The atmosphere in the restaurant was perfect, and our server, Jason, took excellent care of us and made helpful food & drink recommendations. We enjoyed local beer while devouring the Spinach Dip (so delicious!). My husband enjoyed the Goat Cheese Top Sirloin with "Loaded" Garlic Mashed Potato (so decadent!), while I had the Chipotle Chicken Sandwich with the best Sweet Potato Fries I've ever had! Although stuffed, we couldn't resist the complimentary BR Cookie that Jason presented to my husband (with a candle!) in celebration of his birthday. It was a lovely surprise and so comforting and delicious! Jason also provided us with complimentary tastes of a local cream rum, letting us know how terrific it is on the BR Cookie! (by the way, this is my new favorite liqueur!) Overall, this was a fantastic experience and I would definitely recommend the Baton Rouge Halifax to anyone who enjoys good food & drink, large portions, and knowledgeable and friendly servers. Thanks Baton Rouge Halifax for a great supper out!
We normally love Baton Rouge but this time was a little different. I love the ribs meal but the hot cinnamon apples this time were so bland, and just gross I couldn't eat them. Not sure if the chef forgot the cinnamon or changed the type of Apple's being used but they were not good. Also my daughter ordered the Alfredo pasta for the 1st time off the kids menu as she always orders this at East Side Mario's but she was not a fan as she said it had no flavor and wouldn't eat it so that was $10 down the drain. My husband ordered prime rib rare medium but was a little more on the rare side than he would have liked.
Baton Rouge was a late booking but they had room for two. We were originally offered a table then asked for a booth. The hostess was very accommodating in finding us one. The food was delicious. The appetizer (lobster stuffed mushrooms) was very tasty however they could have been a little warmer. They were not hot but definitely not cold (perhaps if they were too hot, I would not have enjoyed that). Steaks were done to perfection, veggies flavourful and baked potato was delicious. Our server was very attentive, professional yet friendly.
We wanted to have a nice dining experience for my 77 year old aunt. We had been the B/R several times and felt it might be a venue that she would enjoy.
We made a reservation being that we were driving from Moncton to Dartmouth to meet up with my aunt.
She had searched the B/R on line menu and had appreciated the variety offered.
We enjoyed the white and red wine that she drank. The appetizers and main course were well prepared and plated. It was visually appealing and as tasty. I did find my onion soup a bit of a task to eat ( feeling the onion pieces could have been put a bit more ) but the taste was very nice.
Our server was knowledgeable of the menu, quick to respond to our needs and personable.
The restaurant is clean, organized and spacious. It was busy and at times a patrons were a bit loud. I will add there were 4 groups around us celebrating different events.
Full stars for Baton Rouge. Great evening! Seated downstairs with wonderful server, Anja. We shared a pitcher of Lunar Eclipse sangria (highly recommend). My husband had ribs and tiger shrimp (delicious). I had crab cakes (tasty with great presentation). Anja was one of the best servers we have ever had...so good that we returned the next evening for our wedding anniversary meal. Hang onto Anja - she is very personable, made great recommendations for food and drinks, and made us want to return. I have already recommended your reataurant to several friends. Thank you Anja and Baton Rouge! We like the food, the ambience, and the service.
Food was great service was great the ambiance was fantastic restaurant was nice (what I seen of it anyway) I was intrigued to wander thru the restaurant and see the rest unfortunately we were sat close to the front door the bathroom the stairs and the kitchen all at the same time so my meal was very busy and noisy apart from that I really enjoyed this restaurant I definitely recommend Baton Rouge to all and will definitely go there again before long .
Thank you staff of Baton Rouge for the dining experience.
My husband and I were on vacation and looking for a nice steakhouse. BR had a good review but was not obscenely expensive. Our waiter Mitch recommended a great bottle of wine and also recommended the grilled Prime Rib which I had never heard of Our wine was perfect, my grilled Prime Rib delicious, the loaded baked potato yummy. And the mixed vegetables great. We topped the meal off with the brownie but we're told the cookie was excellent also. Perfect evening
This was our third time here in 2 weeks. Last weekend we went twice in a row food and service was excellent. Third time made a reservation with a specific server and got assigned someone else who was completely horrible. We all ordered the same entree as the week previous. It just did not compare. I wont be rushing back anytime soon. Still feeling sick 2 days later
Can't go wrong with the ribs at Baton Rouge - we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Too bad they didn't inform weekend diners reserving on-line that customer parking is available at Purdy's Wharf. We drove around an extra 20 minutes before parking at the Delta for $$.
The food was very good, we ordered prime rib w baked potato and the cajun chicken with baked potato; shrimp platter; stuffed mushrooms and dessert. The drink menu had a wide variety to chose from. I had caesars and they were excellent! The food was at a great temperature, the shrimp was nice n cold and the dinner itself was just the way I like it. It was very nice to see how well the staff work together. Our waiter took our order but I don't think he delivered any of it. I believe all of the other staff delivered our food. they seemed very well organized and looked like they enjoyed their job.
What I did not appreciate is the following: Our waiter didn't even look me in the eye once during the entire evening which I found really strange. He literally took my order while starring up across the room. He tossed my bill in the bill folder onto the table from quite a distance away and after I paid for the meal he tossed my card onto the table as well. I think he was trying to be the "cool", but I see that as disrespectful especially after spending over $200. I think a bit of coaching would do him some good.
Thank-you for asking my opinion
This restaurant restaurant is located by the beautiful Waterfront. The food always surpasses expectations. Their attention for details is welcomed at every visit. Their Steak Mate Sour drink is a must to try and their menu are always adjusted to deliver the best dinner experience. Owner and manager are always around to talk to customer and making feel appreciated. I highly recommend this restaurant.
