Bâton Rouge Steakhouse & Bar - Halifax Ratings and Reviews
Great food with huge portions at a good price! However, did not like the Valentine's Day set-up. We were placed at a table in the middle of a room and it was very open. We were also seated very close to the people on either side of us. Just needed a little more personal space, but other than that it was great. I'd definitely recommend!!
Although I have been to Baton Rouge Halifax before, had this been my first time I would not be back. Our server while ok, I found inattentive to refills and taking our order. When we asked for a second spoon, it was as though an argument was chosen as there were already two spoons on the table. We wanted to share a dessert and it came with one, as did the tea we ordered and we wanted another to eat with.
The atmosphere was quite distracting - there was a large party upstairs. We were placed to eat in the mezzanine, when there would have been ample space to place our table on the quiet side of the dinning room. The group was loud, and some of the language used was not appropriate for other diners to want to hear.
Myself, my Mom and my Husband had the ribs. The last view visits during dinner service, the ribs have not been hot, they have been barely warm.
We have gone several times for the Friday lunch ribs and they are always fantastic! It is beyond me why there is a problem with dinner service.
My Dad had Salmon and that was great.
I’d love to see them step up their game with the ribs.
The noise level was unusually loud, due to a table of disrespectful loud, cursing men behind us. They seemed to be under the impression the louder they were, and the more they used profanity the funnier they were. Not so!
Our first visit to Baton Rouge on Friday 26 January 2018 was highly enjoyable from the beginning to the end. We were warmly welcomed to our reserved table and Mitch, our waiter, was exceptional; he provided recommendations for the ribs and made sure we would become regular patrons. The food was very tasty and was served in a prompt fashion. The staff were all attentive. We were offered a dessert but could not eat it because the main course was so filling but it was a lovely gesture.

Annual staff party
Food was average
Service was very low key
Even though we were a party of twelve
Did not even offer anything special or go out
If their way to make it a special experience
It was a Sunday night and the restaurant was empty
Will definitely choose somewhere else next time
I was there with a group of six for our annual Xmas get together. We used to go to the Keg but it has gotten so expensive we decided to try Baton Rouge. Everyone loved the place, the food and the prices were reasonable. The only complaint was it was noisy because it was a full house. Not much you can about that. We will likely go back again next year for our get together! And I may trade another outing I have at the Fireside for Baton Rouge as well!
We would definitely go back again. The place was packed with groups celebrating Christmas. Understandably our server was very busy, resulted in forgetting drinks and never received Caesar salad with main. Not the end of the world but did take away from our overall experience
Cozy spot, the booth tables are the best. Can be a bit loud with the bar in the middle and the blender going during your meal. Drinks were tasty, food was delicious, wait staff were friendly and helpful, but it was a bit slow since it was Saturday night. Definietly not a budget dining option! Casual dress was surprisingly prevalent considering the prices. Not an extensive menu, primarily steak, ribs, chicken or seafood, with some apps and salads.
Meals were very good and staff excellent The appetizers took a long time but we did not complain. We were surprized that we were not charged for the appetizers. I think that means something that staff realized the delay and did something for us without having to complain
Son's 18th birthday - had a great experience. We all loved our food. Everything was timed nicely, not rushed or too long. Excellent service from Zahara(?)
Our steaks were ordered the same but two different degrees of doneness, but they were tender and both very good. Hubby loved his ribs. Walnut cake was excellent.
Thank you again.
My husband and I had an early (5:45pm) reservation for supper. We were celebrating my husband's upcoming 40th birthday by have a "staycation" in Halifax (dinner/show/hotel). We were both extremely happy with our supper experience. The atmosphere in the restaurant was perfect, and our server, Jason, took excellent care of us and made helpful food & drink recommendations. We enjoyed local beer while devouring the Spinach Dip (so delicious!). My husband enjoyed the Goat Cheese Top Sirloin with "Loaded" Garlic Mashed Potato (so decadent!), while I had the Chipotle Chicken Sandwich with the best Sweet Potato Fries I've ever had! Although stuffed, we couldn't resist the complimentary BR Cookie that Jason presented to my husband (with a candle!) in celebration of his birthday. It was a lovely surprise and so comforting and delicious! Jason also provided us with complimentary tastes of a local cream rum, letting us know how terrific it is on the BR Cookie! (by the way, this is my new favorite liqueur!) Overall, this was a fantastic experience and I would definitely recommend the Baton Rouge Halifax to anyone who enjoys good food & drink, large portions, and knowledgeable and friendly servers. Thanks Baton Rouge Halifax for a great supper out!
We normally love Baton Rouge but this time was a little different. I love the ribs meal but the hot cinnamon apples this time were so bland, and just gross I couldn't eat them. Not sure if the chef forgot the cinnamon or changed the type of Apple's being used but they were not good. Also my daughter ordered the Alfredo pasta for the 1st time off the kids menu as she always orders this at East Side Mario's but she was not a fan as she said it had no flavor and wouldn't eat it so that was $10 down the drain. My husband ordered prime rib rare medium but was a little more on the rare side than he would have liked.
