Bâton Rouge Steakhouse & Bar - Halifax
Slow-roasted with au jus
8 oz. freshly ground chuck, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, onions, mustard, mayonnaise
The service was wonderful and the food was delicious.
Great spot for date nights or classy celebrations!
We didn’t care for the new menu. It’s pretty limited and we had a hard time finding something. All our food was cold as well. I always have loved this restaurant but was disappointed this time.
Restaurant was great, close location to down town. We were seated on time with reservation and service was very fast. Lots of variety on menu and once food was ordered it arrived very quick. Staff were helpful, professional and pleasant.
Our reservation was for 7, we were seated at 7:25, ordered right away as we had lots of time outside to look at the menu. It took over an hour to receive our food. Our waitress and the manager were very friendly but this is twice in a row the kitchen seemed to hold up the process. We received a couple of cold potatoes, they were quickly replaced with fries...but then didn't receive the other side which would have came with the fries. Minor details but they all matter for the over all 'Baton Rouge' experience.
A great restaurant to visit, consistently great food, excellent service, nice ambiance. And well-priced!
I have been to Baton Rouge a few times now and I really love it. The service was fantastic and the food came out quickly.
We had purchased the 16oz ribs and the chicken tenders meal.
We experienced a couple of problems.
We received no coleslaws with our meals and had to ask for them which we then got charged $8.50 for.
The chicken tenders had little to no chicken in them, it would have been more accurate to call them batter tenders which was still delicious but not very filling.
The ribs we received were very small as well. We have had these exact meals many times before so we knew what we should have got compared to what we did receive.
Our server had another table directly across from us who were in need of his services quite a lot so my husband said to just eat what we had and leave which is what we did but it just seems unfair to me that we came to enjoy a nice meal and really did not get what we are used to getting.
As for the question below in reference to referring the restaurant my answer would be yes as this is not usual happenings for your place. However I am sad it happened to us.
We always have a great experience at Baton Rouge :) the only thing i would change is to get more veggies lol.. The prime rib is so delicious and the garlic potatoes
Excellent food, fast service and an amazing staff. Always a great experience.
Great service, adequate food. Not has upscale as I had expected. Other steak chains do a better job. I have been for lunch in the past, and it was fine for that but I expected better selection and quality at dinner time.
We had booked a table and it was ready spot on time. Clean and socially distanced. Our server was attentive and friendly. The menu was more limited than pre covid but the food was delicious. It's a special occasion place as far as price goes but well worth it.
Delicious food and drinks! Ribs are great and their salads and powerbowls are amazing!
The food was good, service was great and the atmosphere was inviting.
Although the food was delicious we were very disappointed that after requesting to sit up stairs we were not able to. We really don't like the bar sitting. But the service was excellent and we will go back when we are able to sit up stairs.
Food and service was great
It was delicious and a nice evening out on our 18th Wedding Anniversary. It cost more than what we would normally pay but it was yummy.
Loved our meal and server, Lindsey!
Service was a tad slow but it was busy, we could see, in spite of COVID rules. Keep up the good work!!
One of the best place in the Halifax! Recommend!!!
Great atmosphere, great food
We look forward to Baton Rouge every trip to Halifax, we wish there was one in Moncton, NB
Our waitress was great! Her recommendations were spot on! She was very patient and professional
Great food, unreal service, price is comparable to the other high end restaurants in Halifax. We love it and recommend it
We had a wonderful evening out at Baton Rouge.
It was fantastic we loved it. Loved our server she was lovely.
My fiance and I reserved a table for our date night and we were very pleased. It was quiet and the service was quick. The food was well priced and tasted amazing. I had the steak and ribs and they were the best ribs I ever had. The steak was cooked perfectly and had a great blend of spices on it. The drinks were good, the server even made special drinks for my fiance based on what kind of drinks she normally likes and she loved them.
One of my favorite places to eat...the food is amazing and so is the service...love the atmosphere as well!
Nice atmosphere, food tasted good just not in line with the price and some food was cold.
Best ribs that I have had outside of North Carolina. Staff were very friendly and service was outstanding.
Our appetizer was cold and clearly microwaved as the bowl was piping hot and the contents were still cold. We did let them know and they took it and re microwaved it and it was just warm the second time.
My steak was not cooked the way I ordered it.
Server was good, attentive but really wasn’t worth the $200 we spent on the meal.
Likely will be the last time we go there.
We have been looking forward to going back to Baton Rouge since COVID began. I used to make Baton Rouge a stop every time I was in a location that had one such as Ottawa, before it opened in Halifax. We don't dine out a lot, but when we do, Baton Rouge was one of our favorites. Unfortunately, we had two disappointments this round. The first was the ribs which both my wife and I ordered. They were cold (despite fast service and the fries being nice and hot). The waitress took them back and replaced them, and the manager apologized. That was good. However, the second was also the ribs - I'm not sure if the recipe changed since we were last there or maybe the cook, but I've always raved to everyone that Baton Rouge has some of the best ribs around and are consistently good. Possibly all good things come to an end as they were kind of dry, less rich, and more smoky but dull in flavor than they used to be - maybe a 6/10 vs before I'd always rate them a solid 9 or 9.5. Our ribs did come with the chicken tenders though which were just as good as I remembered. I also think our waitress might have been newer and she also tried to accommodate a group of younger girls at one table by opening windows to the expense of everyone else's comfort in the area (made it cold when previously it was quite nice - we didn't complain, but I think other tables did), however the manager was also on top of that and quickly rectified the situation while also politely explaining to the other table why she had to close them. One other note - the music was very odd - almost like clothing store music from a store focused on teenagers to young adults under 30.
I'd still recommend Baton Rouge for the atmosphere (historic building), most of their food, and the service, but maybe no longer if you are looking for the best ribs? Hopefully an isolated incident.
Creamy potato soup was outstanding, marinated chicken breast and ribs delicious and perfectly cooked. Whiskey Mule cocktail was also very tasty. Value was average for this type of dining experience ($120 for two people with 2 cocktails each). We’ll definitely be back
Our dinner was very good our servicer Lindsay was amazing. Look forward to come back
I really enjoyed this place when we visited Halifax for the weekend❤️, I had the Thai steak salad which was fantastic . The steak was melting in my mouth
I walked away thinking how much I enjoyed my experience. From the food to the service, there isn’t anything I’d change! Well done.
Great service, good food, minimum wait time, would eat here again
Everything was great. I would recommend this restaurant anyone
Great service great experience overall, we will definitely return. The steak was perfect and so was the chicken, and the staff were friendly, energetic and on point.
I am vegan so option. But server & I came up with a meal. Worked great. She was awesome.
My family loved your food. So all good.
Everything went smoothly with our dining experience here. Food was tasty and the pitcher of Sangria was a nice change instead of having beer or wine. Service was great as usual.
Great service and friendly atmosphere. There sangria and spinach dip are to die for and their burgers are truly amazing. Highly recommend
