Had a lovely dinner at Bateau. The food was delicious! Our steaks were cooked perfectly and the bread pudding was the best I’ve ever had. Not only was the food amazing, but the impeccable service really made our night special. We felt safe and taken care of by staff. Would definitely recommend!

The restaurant is doing the best they can with COVID. The liveliness of any restaurant is now subdued because of all the restrictions. Food was great as usual. There didn't seem to be adequate communication between the front staff and the waitstaff about our wine that we brought - it was as if the waiter was not told we wanted our bottle opened/decanted immediately. I really hope they make it through these tough times - please support this great restaurant.

Delicious! While the tasting menu is quite expensive for what you receive compared to other tasting menu experiences around Seattle, the atmosphere, service, and food were exceptional.

We came here to celebrate our anniversary after a friend suggested Bateau. We had the tasting menu and everything was amazing! It was more than enough food and we left very full. We’ll definitely be back!

Bateau is one of my favorite special occasion spots - and sometimes a just because spot. The staff are so knowledgeable and friendly, always willing to go above and beyond explaining menu items and wine or even just checking that everything is ok. In COVID times, I wouldn't hesitate to go back to Bateau. I felt safe the entire time with windows open, everyone in masks (including diners when in between courses), and even being fortunate to see the cleaning/sanitizing of tables between diners. Absolutely love it here and will continue to return!

When thinking back, I can’t even remember what the first course entailed. That might set the tone for this.

The”chefs” tasting, and I say that with quotations as it felt more like a cook giving me everything on his menu in smaller portions and not a chef sharing his craft, the only thing of note was a small steak tartar, and even that the tapioca crisp was far more the star than the steak. The French onion drop had potential but seemed heavy handed much like the frozen jalapeño poppers one would find at the 7/11.

The next flight of course was also forgettable except for the heirloom tomatoes which would have been sublime had they not taken the predictable way out and added spoons of mayonnaise to turn perfect tomatoes into a less than stellar representation of a BLT.

Now to the main course - what we came for - bring me the BEEF! And they did but only 3 small pieces were worth a bite. They were the over aged ribeye cap that I might have payed the hefty $125 price for alone and saved my palate.

The final course was a duo of sweets, a play on a cheese tray with ice cream and a twill which was fun but lackluster and a bread pudding that was so sweet it uncomfortably stuck to your teeth.

The only star of the evening was the 1980 kopke colheita port wine. We had asked for 2 oz and only received one but by that time in the night and after the let down we were more then ready to be done.

At the end of it all, this was truly a disheartening experience for us. We have come to love The Sea Creatures family of restaurants, visiting both the Walrus and the Wale Wins, and wanting to add Bateue as the star to that venture. But instead it put a sour taste in our mouth and hole in our wallet.

Great place for a special event. Service is beyond top notch: great at explaining how everything works, incredibly knowledgeable, and just incredibly nice. Food was cooked perfectly, this was easily one of the best steaks I've had. Looking forward to coming back here, although I'm concerned about how loud it would be. There doesn't seem to be much in the way of noise dampeners and tables are a little cozy.

The food was amazing. Everything from the Beef Heart appetizer to the 63 day aged Sirloin Tip. We especially loved our server Emily. She was extremely knowledgeable on the cuts. She learned about our preferences in meat and recommended exactly what we liked. She was attentive and a pleasure to converse with.

A perfect unison of ingredients, service and atmosphere. Slightly over priced for the average joe. But the unique experience is worth it if you go into it knowing to eat slowly and savor because it will be a big bill.

Loved the meal and the service was excellent. My one critique is to perhaps keep the music a bit lower. It felt at times that the music was of a volume one would expect at the end of the night when the staff is cleaning up the restaurant for the night.

The steak was fantastic the rest of the meal was okay. I wish we were seated in a different area. They have a large chalk board with the daily steaks listed and every few minutes someone was coming by with a large stick to cross something out. Kindof ruined the meal.

11/10. You cannot do better for a nice dinner out (assuming you eat steak). Everything was spectacular: great steaks, including some very unique cuts. Great a la cart veggies and sides, also much more unique than typical steakhouse fare. The food was rich without being too heavy. Impeccable service, both the hostess and servers were courteous and genuinely interested in helping us choose steaks and enjoy our evening. We never felt rushed. It was a really perfect meal.

The most fantastic hamburger I've ever had! Absolutely phenomenal! The place is super nice for date night, the steaks are cooked excellently (if ordering them might be a little daunting), the drinks are all very good & the place is cozy but not all crammed up.

If you like steak and you're not a good cook and you're willing to pay A LOT for a piece of steak and you like knowing where the cow lived before it became your meal, you will like this place. The food was very good. But we make steak that tastes just as good or better at home with no special equipment and no relationship with a farm. I was also pretty flummoxed by the fact that the chef refused to remove the rye cracker from the "Rueben" to make it GF. We ordered it anyway and removed the rye ourselves but it would have been easy for him to do in the kitchen. It indicated a complete lack of interest in us as the customer and just reeked of snobbery. We will not go back.
