We went here for Mother's day brunch at 10am. I was very disappointed with the level of service and the quality of the food. Our server wanted to be somewhere else than there. She was not very attentive to what she was there for. All she had to do was refill our coffee mugs and clean out the used plates and she didn't even do a good job of that. Plates piled up on our table and she was behind on coffee refills. When they ran out of clean plates by the macaroni salad, I had to mention it to the hostess. A few minutes later there was a stack of plates brought out and they were all dirty. It looked like someone had picked up a stack of plates that were partly cleaned. Disgusting! On the food, some of the items (both chicken dishes, salmon, gravy) were close to room temps. I expected them to be hot. You could tell they had been sitting there for quite some time before opening the doors. Taste was just okay. Didn't go back for seconds on the main dishes. I opted to stick with the French toast. Lastly, I heard Bastone is closing its doors for good. Probably explains the attitude of all the people working there. Even on our way out, there was no thank you from the hostess. Everyone seemed disinterested to work there. So sad.

We enjoyed a good dinner at Bastone. The wine selection is nicely varied even though the emphasis here is on beer. Our meal ran about 74.00 with three glasses of wine, one coffee, and generous tip. Reservations are recommended for a Saturday night and a Saturday night can be a bit noisy. Our waiter was quite pleasant and attentive.

Overall it was a nice evening and we will return.

This was the worst restaurant experience I've had in many years. Nobody at our table of 4 enjoyed their meals and the service was horrific! My filet mignon came well done when I asked for it medium rare. They butterfly their filet mignons, but it doesn't warn you about that on the menu. Worst steak ever! The server (GiGi) couldn't have cared less about service or fixing numerous problems. Find somewhere else to go while in Royal Oak

We had been at bastone before for a big party, today we wanted to come back for a dinner for two. First off I want to start by saying our waitress was fabulous, happy enteric checked in us frequently. With that being said I think the kitchen was off their game that night. I ordered the bastone steal sandwich, which I have had previously. The meal came with fries which appeared to be the end if the batch (short fries with lots of burnt pieces) the steak was 50% gristle and tough (being medium), I had a hard time cutting through it. The potato pancakes were underdone and cold. I was super disappointed considering had had this meal previously and it was really good.

Four of us enjoyed the mussels and especially the pomme fritte. Service was good and we never felt pressured to speed up our dinner. Had plenty of time to conduct some business afterward.
