Bastille is one of our favorite brunch spots. Love to sit at the window and watch the farmers' market. Want to especially acknowledge the great service by Nick our waiter. He was extremely knowledgeable about the menu and a great communicator.
This is one of our Ballard favorites. The BEST frites in the city!
Great atmosphere -lively but not obnoxious
4 neighbors met there on a Friday night for drinks and dinner.3 of us had the 1/2 chicken which was delicious. We had a great waitress who was helpful with her descriptions. Our table was ready at our reservation time. The evening was very enjoyable. Will go back soon.
Food was excellent, staff very attentive. Courses were paced well, not hurried, not slow...
As always great!
Steak frites and banh mi were fantastic!
Lovely food and service. The duck confit is great. Too salty though. I was up drinking water for half the night. Also too noisy.
Parking is a nightmare anywhere in Ballard. If you couple this with Sunday's farmers market, then you have a fairly effective deterrent for physically challenged folks to have an opportunity to enjoy the tasty, well executed and unostentatiously presented, comforting, and well-seasoned dishes. A number of staff (4) attended our table our table of two: this felt to be overmuch, even a bit underfoot.
Undoubtedly, I would recommend Bastille to anyone for the food and ambience-- hipsters notwithstanding.
I come to this bar quiet often for drinks with friends, brunch on sundays.
Atmosphere is great, food is good.
We had brunch table by front window. Enjoyed watching the market crowd. Service was impeccable food is always delicious. One of favorite brunch spot on Sunday!
The side "covered outdoor" dining room is too cold in the winter - never took my coat off. They had overhead heaters, but never turned them on, despite the outside temperature being in the 30's. I would eat here again, but only in the main dining room.
Really nice happy hour three course menu, loved the mussels and beef marrow dumplings...so good. Great prices on the happy hour carafe of wine but felt scored by the waitress for ordering the carafe instead of the $60 bottle she recommended. Would go again and hope for a friendlier waiter.
Nice spot for a great French inspired meal in Ballard
I was very impressed with Bastille! I had heard good things, but often places disappoint. Bastille did not! We ordered one mocktail, bread, the chicken entree and the bone marrow dumplings entree. Both were super good, the dumplings a little on the salty side but still delish. Loved the overall ambience, our server was very nice and we were in and out in an hour !
Service was great. Everyone for hostess to wait staff were friendly and accommodating. Cocktails were unique and well balanced.
Great food as always with good daily specials.
Love the ambiance.
We always enjoy Bastille they provide the perfect spot to have fun and be in an environment that's upbeat and beautiful!
👍👍👍, that all.
Always a winner for date night
It was our first time here and the food wasn’t excellent but it wasn’t terrible. My fiancé said his steak was kind of chewy even though he got it rare but other than that, no other complaints.
Our server was knowledgeable and was able to effectively read our body language, one of the best server experiences I’ve ever experienced. The atmosphere was a chic industrial, and there was a modded turn of the century oven (I believe) turned into a bussing station. The food was excellent, my girlfriend claimed to have had the best scallops dish there, as well as excellent whiskey cocktails. We will definitely come back for another date night down the road.
The only time we could get a Valentines dinner reservation was 5:15 but, it turned out just fine— great food great service!
Fun evening and the live music made it more special
Bastille has been my favorite place to go for years and I cannot imagine any place that comes close. The food, the crew, ambiance keep me coming back. Thank you.
Plane was nice and food was okay nothing I was thrilled about it.. maybe Hapi hour next time.
The wagu steak was outstanding and the artichoke salad was very creative and yummy. The French Onion soup was flavorful but a bit burned and overdone but still quite good. The service was great and the atmosphere was worth the limited parking.
AMAZING!!! JUST AMAZING. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS FOR DATE NIGHT OR ANY SPECIAL OCCASION.
We had a wonderful time that was shared with, I am sure, by most of the other dinners in the room.
Thank you for a fine meal and a relaxing atmosphere.
Server was arrogant and put off by a question regarding substitution of one part of the dish due to a food allergy. She did make an adjustment with the chef which was appreciated, but also expected, frankly. She was condescending to my guest who was visiting from France when he did not take her suggestion on temperature to cook his steak. The very expensive wine was wonderful but a different vintage was served than what was on the list. The sommelier was most gracious and handled that well. Food is so good, but this night the attitude of the server really left a "bad taste".
Looking for casual and delicious meal in a French Bistro setting?! Creative drinks and extensive wine list with classic French cuisine. Moules-Frites, Steak-frites and several pate options .
It is always nice at Bastille. The food is reliably delicious. It is our favorite brunch spot.
Great service and excellent food, the baguettes are the best.
The food wasn’t very good. One person in our party didn’t eat her meal at all. Expensive and loud, I was embarrassed having recommended we go to our guests.
My wife and I used to live in Ballard so we would come to this restaurant very frequently, now we live in West Seattle but this is still a place we regularly make the trip to, even if we can no longer walk home. The service is always fantastic, and they must treat their staff well because they all seem to have worked there a long time. Best place to come for a steak, head and shoulders above a so-called "steak restaurant" with the prestige and the pomp, this is good food in a good setting. I don't leave reviews, revisiting is the best review, but I can't say enough good things about this place.
We wanted to get brunch with my friends and that's always a very difficult situation as some of us are meat eaters, some vegetarian and some vegan. But at Bastille we had a wonderful experience as our server was very attentive and the chef accommodating. I loved the food and the ambiance, and we'll definitely go back soon.
Great food, will be going again soon. Already picked what I am going to have. Will also come back to try bar.
Great food and wait staff. Lovely experience. Will look to go back, no question.
It was our first time to Bastille and I can guarantee it won't be the last. We live in Snohomish County and don't get to Ballard very much but Bastille was such a special find that I'm sure we'll be back. We both tried the 3 for $35 menu BUT had cocktails before, I had to have a dozen oysters, and we did the wine pairings so somehow we ended up with a $200 tab. My Jerusalem Artichoke soup was great, her pate was eaten at the restaurant and the next day as a snack, the mussels were fabulous, her pasta was a minute shy of al dente, and our desserts were both delicious. We shared mine and snuck her cheese plate home with the pate to enjoy on Sunday.
we have been coming to Bastille for some years and like it very much. Our favorite is the moules/frittes. This time the moules were great, but the sauce was very spicey--like 4 at a Thai restaurant. A small quibble, was that a wipes are usually served after shell fish, and they were not provided. Otherwise, it was a great meal.
