Good food. Really like the lamb burger. Wine is more problematic. Except for the house wine, which is cheap and good, the other bottles are expensive and the descriptions are inadequate.
Great service and food
Bastille knocked our date night out of the park.
The restaurant’s ambience and decor are fantastic. Our server knew the menu, knew the wine list, made helpful suggestions, and was exceptionally friendly and pleasant.
My wife’s chardonnay flight was three samples of fantastic and variety.
Chef hit French sweet and savory on the button. My wife had fresh, briny locally-sourced oysters from a small producer with a light and balanced peppercorn champagne mignonette. My smoked pork rillette was rich, smooth as silk, perfectly seasoned, and accompanied by a perfect mustard for heat and pickled fennel to brighten the pate and cut through the rich flavor; my only issue was portion size - this was an appetizer to be shared, but that wasn’t made obvious from the menu or the server. We chose a second course of fried greens with grilled onions and a perfectly poached egg. My wife had clams with decadent chunks of bacon and the best fumet broth I’ve ever tasted. After the rillette I opted for the MP halibut rather than something heavier, and it was perfectly cooked - flaky with a smashing crust - and laid over grilled onions, a light and creamy puree, and those perfect chunks of bacon.
We tested the chef’s claim to French technique with profiteroles for dessert, cut in half versus filling-piped to accommodate salted caramel ice cream, with a ginger spice crust on top, and dark chocolate to drizzle. The dessert was perfect. Crunchy, light pastry; sweet and salty ice cream and bitter chocolate.
This is a must-visit restaurant. Not a single swing-and-a-miss on flavor, flavor balance, or seasoning throughout the meal.
Sarah was the best! Complete knowledge of the menu & wine list. Made our first Moms Night Out exceptional and lovely. Thanks Sarah!
Our waiter was outstanding! The service was excellent, the food amazing! Can’t wait to go again!
We were seated in the middle of the restaurant and it was loud. However, after 5 minutes I had tuned everyone else out and really enjoyed my group. We brought our own wine and in addition we did the wine tasting... it was excellent. Our service was great and the food was delicious!
Very pleasant restaurant, friendly service, food was very good and wine great.
We were celebrating a birthday and had a great time.
Love this bar.
Since being here in Seattle I have to say this is my favourite place for brunch and dinner.
They do the best Bloody Marys and I have tried every other place even the stoneburner.
Will miss this place.
Highly recommend.
Food great, atmosphere great, wine menu great.
We were very pleasantly surprised to find this local gem! The food was absolutely delicious, the house wine was excellent and our server had a wonderful personality. I am looking forward to going there again - - especially during good weather so I can sit in the outdoor patio!
outstanding service, great attention to detail, and the usual flawless execution from the kitchen. A gem in the wilds of Ballard
Bastille has in the past been terrific. The food is still extraordinary, but the prices have risen significantly (though not necessarily out of line with the rest of Ballard Ave.) -- and the service tonight was abysmal.
Popped in with a girlfriend before a show at the Tractor Tavern. We just shared handful of small plates (oh the frites!!....)and a few glasses of wine. We did make a reservation and were seated right away. Our service was fabulous, our waitress was friendly, attentive (but not overly) and fast. Bastille has been a Ballard favorite for years and happy to say, it still is!
Bastille is one of our favorite brunch spots. Love to sit at the window and watch the farmers' market. Want to especially acknowledge the great service by Nick our waiter. He was extremely knowledgeable about the menu and a great communicator.
This is one of our Ballard favorites. The BEST frites in the city!
Great atmosphere -lively but not obnoxious
4 neighbors met there on a Friday night for drinks and dinner.3 of us had the 1/2 chicken which was delicious. We had a great waitress who was helpful with her descriptions. Our table was ready at our reservation time. The evening was very enjoyable. Will go back soon.
Food was excellent, staff very attentive. Courses were paced well, not hurried, not slow...
As always great!
Steak frites and banh mi were fantastic!
Lovely food and service. The duck confit is great. Too salty though. I was up drinking water for half the night. Also too noisy.
Excellent everything...
Parking is a nightmare anywhere in Ballard. If you couple this with Sunday's farmers market, then you have a fairly effective deterrent for physically challenged folks to have an opportunity to enjoy the tasty, well executed and unostentatiously presented, comforting, and well-seasoned dishes. A number of staff (4) attended our table our table of two: this felt to be overmuch, even a bit underfoot.
Undoubtedly, I would recommend Bastille to anyone for the food and ambience-- hipsters notwithstanding.
I come to this bar quiet often for drinks with friends, brunch on sundays.
Atmosphere is great, food is good.
We had brunch table by front window. Enjoyed watching the market crowd. Service was impeccable food is always delicious. One of favorite brunch spot on Sunday!
The side "covered outdoor" dining room is too cold in the winter - never took my coat off. They had overhead heaters, but never turned them on, despite the outside temperature being in the 30's. I would eat here again, but only in the main dining room.
Really nice happy hour three course menu, loved the mussels and beef marrow dumplings...so good. Great prices on the happy hour carafe of wine but felt scored by the waitress for ordering the carafe instead of the $60 bottle she recommended. Would go again and hope for a friendlier waiter.
Nice spot for a great French inspired meal in Ballard
I was very impressed with Bastille! I had heard good things, but often places disappoint. Bastille did not! We ordered one mocktail, bread, the chicken entree and the bone marrow dumplings entree. Both were super good, the dumplings a little on the salty side but still delish. Loved the overall ambience, our server was very nice and we were in and out in an hour !
Service was great. Everyone for hostess to wait staff were friendly and accommodating. Cocktails were unique and well balanced.
Great food as always with good daily specials.
Love the ambiance.
We always enjoy Bastille they provide the perfect spot to have fun and be in an environment that's upbeat and beautiful!
👍👍👍, that all.
Always a winner for date night
It was our first time here and the food wasn’t excellent but it wasn’t terrible. My fiancé said his steak was kind of chewy even though he got it rare but other than that, no other complaints.
Our server was knowledgeable and was able to effectively read our body language, one of the best server experiences I’ve ever experienced. The atmosphere was a chic industrial, and there was a modded turn of the century oven (I believe) turned into a bussing station. The food was excellent, my girlfriend claimed to have had the best scallops dish there, as well as excellent whiskey cocktails. We will definitely come back for another date night down the road.
The only time we could get a Valentines dinner reservation was 5:15 but, it turned out just fine— great food great service!
Fun evening and the live music made it more special
Bastille has been my favorite place to go for years and I cannot imagine any place that comes close. The food, the crew, ambiance keep me coming back. Thank you.
Plane was nice and food was okay nothing I was thrilled about it.. maybe Hapi hour next time.
The wagu steak was outstanding and the artichoke salad was very creative and yummy. The French Onion soup was flavorful but a bit burned and overdone but still quite good. The service was great and the atmosphere was worth the limited parking.
AMAZING!!! JUST AMAZING. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS FOR DATE NIGHT OR ANY SPECIAL OCCASION.
