Basta Ratings and Reviews
Basta was amazing! Great staff, awesome food. We got the burrata and bread to start, which was delicious and a definite highlight. We then had a nice, fresh salad followed by a Daisy pizza. The standout was the chicken, which was crispy and tender and pretty mind blowing. Nice atmosphere, but weird location in the middle of an apartment complex. We will definitely be back though! Really great food and wine.
This is a hidden gem in Boulder. We moved to Boulder after living in France for the previous 20 years, and this is the closest to a French\Italian neighborhood restaurant that we have found in the Boulder area. Their whole fish is like served on the Mediterranean.
Not really Italian, a bit out of the way, but really excellent food. The bread with burrata and the pizzas were amazing. The salads were great. Since we are from New Orleans the octopus was underwhelming, and the shortribs were really not $70-worth of delicious. Nonetheless a special place with great servers.
We had an amazing meal at Basta! From the service to the food, everything was perfect. The short rib was out of this world! I suspect they don't get a lot of young diners (our 10 month old was with us) but they were super friendly and welcoming to our family which we appreciated. We will definitely be back for special occasions.
Seriously blew away our expectations! Our friends said it would be amazing but we had no idea what talent existed here. So glad we made the trip from Denver! We fortunately dined at the chef's counter and were amazed by everything being prepared in the oven. Looking forward to coming back soon!
Food options are minimal and it is extremely overpriced. You can go to Blackbelly or Spruce and get a better meal for the same price. There were no special drink prices. Cost us $80 for a couple of drinks and a pizza...oh did I mention that if you order a 2nd glass of iced tea that you get dinged for that?
The food and wine were good but canned beer cost $8 and the pizza is around $18 for a 1-2 person pizza. Their prices were generally too high. Also, they do not offer happy hour which I find to be unacceptable. Though, the pizza was tasty and our service was good.
We like the pizza at Basta. Thin crust. Woodfired oven. Good size for two of us to share. We had the arugula and prosciutto. A little cheedse melted on a crust with a salad of arugula and prosciutto on top. Unusual presentation, but very good. Good wine selections. We also had the pickled vegetables. Small size. Caramel and black salt ice cream was a little salty and very small.
So good! We usually order a baby green salad for the table and everyone gets their own pizza. Favorites include the Peppers (the BEST pepperoni), Arugula, and the Daisy pizza. Their burnt caramel and salt ice cream and potato doughnuts are absolutely delicious. Amazing pizza, great wine, yummy deserts and fun atmosphere. Wait staff is friendly and attentive. Hidden gem in Boulder.
Wonderful dining evening! From the moment we walked in Alan was incredible. He knew who we were and made us feel very welcome. Alan, you are superb! We sat by the oven and was impressed with the chef who was cooking that evening.
Thanks again and see you soon!

Love the food, the drink, the service and have been back many times. I don't know if it was because they were crowded or something else but the noise level was so high could barely carry on a conversation! It is one of our favorite places but this will make me reconsider when I go back
Four of us dined at Basta. Each dish we ordered (including appetizers and dessert) were excellently prepared and tasted fantastic with fresh ingredients and simple; very traditional Italian which is not easy to find in Colorado! The waiter was also fantastic and enthusiastic about the food which made us want to try everything he suggested.
This was our 3rd time at Basta and we enjoyed the experience. Very attentive service. The food was great but the sea bass was slightly dry as compared to last time. Don't get me wrong - it was still very, very tasty but not quite a 10 out of 10 this time. Still one of the best restaurants around - very fresh food that is skillfully prepared.
We sat at the bar and thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. You can see the brick oven and watch some hand-crafted drinks be made. Pre-drink cocktails were great, the food recommendations were excellent - we had the pepperoni pizza, whole roasted fish, and donughts. One of the owners is also a Sommelier so he enjoyed answering our questions about ordering a bottle of wine. The value for the food quality was also great. Try their house made chili oil!
this is our new favorite. everything was exceptional. the short ribs were over the top ! we were surprised at how many families with small children were there - noise level high until they left. there isn't a kids menu so not sure what that was about ? the food, service and wine were perfect
Service is very friendly by all staff, from phone reservation to hostess and wait staff. Very welcoming and the food is fantastic. All their dishes are cooked in that imported italian wood burning oven. All the dishes are very flavorful. Including the pizzas and dessert. Highly recommend.
We enjoyed our experience at Basta from the moment we sat down. My husband and I shared an the burrata appetizer (to die for. served with amazing freshly baked bread), a pizza and two scoops of homemade ice cream (not to be missed.)
Being pregnant, I didn't get to enjoy their cocktails or wine list, but they had great non-alcoholic options.
Our server was kind and attentive. They even held the door for us when we left. An all around great experience and we'll be likely be regulars.
Everything here is cooked in the wood-fired oven. We were a party of 6, with two kids. The kids had the cheese pizza; the rest of us shared small plates, a large Colorado bass, and vegetable sides. It was all delicious. The ambiance is casual (and kid-friendly) but the service is attentive and expert. We enjoyed our evening here. The restaurant is a bit hard to find -- it's in the Peloton condo complex. In fact it's been here over a year but it was not til I saw the 'top 10 in Denver' review in a magazine that I realized that it was here!
We thoroughly enjoyed our evening at Basta. The service was friendly and efficient. Ambiance was very nice but the table directly by the front door can be a bit uncomfortable in the winter months. We gorged ourselves on all of the different small plates and starters so I could barely eat our delicious wood fired pizza. Still we saved room for dessert and ordered tiramisu and the smores gelato, which was just a bit too smoky for my palate. Our wine selections were fantastic and our server was very knowledgeable about our choices. I'd definitely recommend Basta if you're looking for a nice meal in Boulder.
