Bass Street Chop House Ratings and Reviews
Professional staff, elegant yet casual setting. All the food was great. Recommend the prime steak and Salmon entree's. The creme bluee was outstanding. The Salads were great and just the right size. Comfortable booth is recommended. Thanks for a great place to celebrate an anniversary!
We’ve eaten at BSCH on multiple occasions. They are always amazing. Portions are huge, more than enough for 2 or 3 people. Steaks are exceptional. I recommend the bone-in-Delmonico and at 22 ounces, it is large enough to share as well. They have a very nice selection of wines. The creme brûlée is also very good but would be exceptional with a fresh berry or two.
Went at 6pm on Friday evening. Wife ordered Halibut, but we were told they were out because they were so busy that evening even though restaurant did not have many people. I ordered medallions of beef with shrimp done medium. They were small pieces of triangular shaped filet and they were medium-well (being generous). Daughter ordered lava cake. Told the cakes “were bad” and they had to throw them out. Pretty mediocre overall. You can do better, especially for their prices.
2 - 3oz filets took an hour and 15 min. 1 steak ordered well was brought out rare/med-rare. potatoes on both orders were cold. returned both orders. server brought new steaks. Sides were mixed up so we literally scraped sides of the plates to switch. Potatoes still cold. Extremely loud. Not the first time service has been bad. last 3 times we've been there it was just as slow.
The food was ok. The staff was not polite plus the wait was lengthy especially since there was a reservation. The location was uncomfortable; we were seated in front of the bar. I expected more because of the price of my meal. Nothing special about this place. Will not recommend nor return.
Made reservation online. You can't select a booth online as an option, but booth was put in the comments. When we arrived for our reservation, we were told no booths were available. The young man at the hostess stand said sometimes the online system doesn't show comments, or they missed it. We were seated at a bar height table near the bar. Not 2 minutes after we sat down a booth opened up, so I asked that we be moved there, as it is what we asked for in the reservation. The booth was given to a walk-in. I spoke to the young man about this, he apologized again for the reservation online system issue, saying he'd already told the walk-ins they could have the booth. Nothing was done to accommodate us for this mistake. I understand mistakes happen, but compensation for those mistakes shows true hospitality, and we received none. The food was great, but the service felt a little rushed when the waiter was at our table, and our reservation mistake wasn't made right. I would not recommend this restaurant to a friend.
We thought the food was delicious, good selection of items on the menu, great wine list. The crème brûlée dessert was very tasty The ambiance was welcomed, very attentive server who was very knowledgeable about his craft. Over all the servers were polite and made us feel welcome. We plan to return in the future to enjoy another great meal and friendly atmosphere.
We had reservations for 7pm. When we arrived the hostess was very rude and made us feel like we were an inconvenience to her because we didn't want to be seated at the bar. There were only three tables full when we arrived. Our waiter was good, but our food was mediocre. I ordered the prime cut NY strip cooked medium rare. When the steak arrived it was cold in the center. I sat while my wife ate her food and our side of green beans got cold waiting for my steak to return. The manager never came over to check on us or to apologize for the steak and nothing was done on our tab to make up for the poor service. All-in-all a very poor experience for our 5 year anniversary dinner. Fine dining is about the experience the moment you enter the door as well as the food. Both need to be amazing. Bass street fell short in both areas for the money.
As usual, we had an excellent meal. We had dry aged NY strips that were done perfectly and full of flavor. We also had the 24 ounce Prime rib which was very tender and juicy but more medium than medium rare that I requested. The salads were good but we had an upgraded Corn Lobster Bisque that honestly didn't taste too lobster and was too thick. We closed out the restaurant so service was a bit sparse at the end. Overall, a nice dinner experience.
