Bass Lake Taverne Ratings and Reviews
I made a dinner reservation through OpenTable for Bass Lake Inn for a party of six to celebrate three wedding anniversaries. The reservation was for 6:30 pm on 9/17/16. At 6:50 pm, after inquiring with the hostess when we might be seated, we were told she didn't know how long it might be. It was very clear upon our arrival at 6:20 pm that the restaurant was already at capacity and overbooked as there were no tables available and several groups of people at the bar were also waiting for a table. Since we were told by the hostess that she could not estimate how long it would be for a table to open for us we left Bass lake Inn at 6:50 pm and dined elsewhere. It goes without saying how disappointed we were that the restaurant could not honor our reservation. They clearly were overbooked which left us no other option but to leave and find another restaurant to service us. I sent an email to the restaurant on Saturday evening 9:17/16 through their website expressing my disappointment over this incident but I have received no response. Their lack of response is a testimonial to the fact that they could care less.
Our friends enjoyed it so much the last post Chardon FB game dinner we had, they asked to come again! Of course we obliged and they loved it on the patio as much as we usually do! So fun and food was Delish as usual, atmosphere wonderful! Thanks again for an awesome evening!
Even though we used the open table app to make a reservation and stated it was a special occasion, nothing was mentioned. We waited a number of minutes for anyone to approach our table. The wasn't one server in the room for quite sometime. We were ready to order everything by the time someone came to even acknowledge us. The first glass of wine that was brought to the table had lipstick on it. Other tables were given bread, we were not offered it. Appetizer was okay, no one came by to ask about it. Salad was wilted and the ceased dressing was too vinegary. Dinner was bland and left much to be desired. All of our plates we stacked at the end of the table as no one ever came by to pick them up. No one ever came by to ask how dinner was, who the waitress finally came back all she asked was finished? VERY disappointed!
We love Bass Lake and brought our friends here after the Chardon Football Game since they had been hearing how much we loved it. They loved it as well and we had a great time! Delicious food and wonderful service. We usually dine outside this time of year, but it was a little on the cool side. We love the patio, so fun!!!
A great time was had by everyone! From the Steak Oscar, Perch dinner to the Penne Pasta Chicken everything was delicious. We were also amazed and the large amount of options for dessert. Service was fast and friendly and we never felt rush. The ease of booking a reservation online was an added benefit.
After a bad experience the last time we were here, we returned with serious trepidation. I'm glad to say this visit was much better. Great service at the bar during happy hour, as well as when we moved to the patio for dinner. Our entrees were prepared properly, and quite tasty!
This is the second time that I visited Bass Lake Taverne. During my first visit, the food and service was excellent. I was not disappointed on my second visit. The specialty martinis were unique and delicious, and the wine list offered a wide selection of whites and reds. The menu offered a wide variety of choices. Our party of four enjoyed seafood, chicken, and steak. Each entree was cooked to perfection. I will certainly return to this restaurant and will recommend it to my friends.
I would like to review. However, we waited 23 minutes and didn't get any service at our table, so we left. The worst service of any restaurant I've ever been to. The hostess even said - to another customer(!)- "can you go outside and tell the hostess outside that I need help"
I ordered the Oscar Tenderloin, medium, which I've had on numerous occasions at this restaurant before. It was jelly and sinewy in the middle, so I asked for it to be cooked longer. When it came back, it was still raw in the middle, and tasteless. I will not order this dish again.
Impressive ! Bass Lake is a place we've all known of for years, and driven past multiple times. But in the past we opted for Gamekeeper's in Chagrin. On Father's Day the outdoor patio was a beautiful atmosphere, with plenty of canopy protection from the sun and cool breeze blowing through. Table and chairs were quality and comfortable (not the cheap plastic outdoor furniture). Even the two vegans in our group had plenty to choose from after slight adjustments to their offerings. The fish & chips, gazpacho, salmon salad, mushroom burger and arugula salad were each excellent dishes and did not leave us thirsty or reeking of garlic (as so often happens today in the world of "fine dining"). Beers on draft and white wines by the glass were of relatively good variety and fair pricing. The wait staff was polished and professional, displaying courtesy and personality as well. And to top it off there were two musicians playing jazz and blues. We'll definitely be back.
Excellent Father's Day brunch experience. The wait staff was very accommodating and patient with us. Our only issue was the lack of umbrellas on our table (it was a very hot day) and the staff resolved the issue (twice). Excellent food and variety of choices.
Sat outside this visit- previous visits were inside during winter. Less pleasant visit than previous. Some tables had umbrellas for shade, but were ineffective to stop late afternoon blinding sun. Waiter was very personable, and worked very hard, but kitchen delivered two of three meals with incorrect items. Also bar was extremely slow in providing drinks. Waiter was forced to apologize repeatedly for slow bar service and kitchen errors. Food itself was okay but not outstanding. We will try again assuming that they were shorthanded or having an off night. Atmosphere is charming and is the prime attractant.
