Good for a hotel restaurant. Service a bit slow.
Awesomeness! That is all!
Jessica Jason and the rest of the staff are awesome! Always welcoming with honest suggestions about the menu. Thank you for letting us run wild. All the places in Seattle to eat and we dined with you twice this week even though we were staying at the Courtyard. Your menu rocks. Keep it up and add more wine selections please!
This place is a hidden gem. Very underrated. Their service is always good. Food is outstanding (for what we ordered). It is not your average hotel restaurant for travelers to get a quick bite. We have tried their braised pork shoulder, garlic prawn, crab cake, French dip, and a few other things. The quality is quite consistent. The price is also very reasonable. Did I mention that they got an "excellent" rating from King County?
Dined here only because hotel staff said it would be deducted from the incidentals deposit. It was expensive, not overly impressive, and guess what..... it was charged beyond the incidentals deposit. Wouldn’t have eaten here in the first place. Won’t go back.
2017 Christmas Dinner 6pm, Was not impressed by food or service. We were an older group of 60+ so young wait staff not very present. The seating was difficult for mobility challenged members of our party. Crab Bisque was a salt bomb, risotto was under/poorly cooked, crab cakes were over cooked and needed a sauce.
We were there for Christmas dinner. Although the restaurant did not seem overly busy, our server excused the food quality because of the fixed menu and the holiday. One order of fettuccini was soupy. Our server was distracted and forgot we asked for wine. However, she did her best to accommodate our requests for our desserts to go. We enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere, unlike that in many modern restaurants.
We went to this restaurant two or three years ago for the Christmas Dinner. It was awesome. But our returns have been a disaster. Thanksgiving and Christmas buffet were very weak on service and noisy and crowded. So this Christmas we decided to return for the evening Christmas dinner. What a change from our first experience. The lights shined down on us very bright. Very noisy family at table next to us. Food was good. Service was ok. This will probably be our last holiday dinner at Basil's.
The Basil Kitchen was wonderful! I took my family there for the Christmas dinner buffet and everything was excellent. I was very impressed and would make it a tradition!
Great northwest cuisine and craft beer selection.
Made a reservation for ten people plus one high chair in the evening. Showed up on time and our table was ready immediately. Service was amazing. Our waitresses were incredibly nice. The food was good. We even got a dessert for the birthday boy. Would definitely come again.
Food was good; Three small Crab cakes with risotto which was a little on the dry side; crisp half dozen green beans atop the risotto; some tables got bread, suspect that you had to ask for it?
The waiter was polite but rather robotic like; Food was pricey;
Loud conversational noise from happy hour in the high ceilinged atrium lounge just outside the restaurant.
We have been to Basil's twice. The first time was really memorable. Prompt, friendly and attentive service, excellent food (prosciutto wrapped prawns, cioppino). The next time was fair service, and mediocre food (chicken marsala, crab cake salad). The salad with crabcakes was mainly a large, overdressed, mass of arugula which went uneaten. So those uneven dining experiences lowered my overall rating to 3 stars. I still like the place, especially the spacious room and will adjust my rating according to future experience.
We often have business associate lunches here, it is a great value centrally located.
We have always had a great lunch. There are a lot of menu selections for varied tastes at reasonable prices.
The staff is very good and friendly. We never have a hassle and always get separate checks!
This place is more for just dining if your staying at the hotel. I thought it was going to be a great spot for Father's Day but my the food was not worth the price. The selection was very small and this place was totally not kid friendly. There was no baby changing station in the ladies restroom. The food was ok but not special. The staff was friendly which was the only reason why it was decent.
The only problem I had was trying to change my reservation from 6 to 7 people. Open table didn't work for me in that regard. When I received my reminder email from you, it was still for 6. Had to call Basil's Kitchen to make the change. This has happened to me before. Can you fix it?
We went for Mother's Day Brunch! The choices were very good. They kept everything full
and appealing. Our group of 4 totally enjoyed the experience. I would do it again and have
already recommended it to others.
The service and the waitstaff was absolutely top notch. They made you feel welcome and special. Hands down best service we've seen!!
Food is always delicious, and very fresh ingredients. Also, service is good.
Easter brunch- lovely.
Pricey for the little food I can put down but I was pleased with the variety and quality of fish dishes and the food and selection overall was quite good and true to northwestern good food.
My tween had lots of options and was also pleases
Your entire staff is first-rate. Our server in particular was outstanding. It was an excellent dining experience.
Great food, service and atmosphere. Perfect for a working lunch.
Once again our dinner was perfect. Also a great thank you for the discount...we will return...soon.
In a hotel so a little out of the ordinary, but a nice break from the chains that are usually in this neighborhood for when you want something a little nicer. The fare was tasty and Pacific-Northwest-geared, so my friend from out of town enjoyed getting his little bite of Seattle.
TL;DR: Great service couldn't save our awfully prepared meals for the high price charged.
The rib-eye special was the blandest piece of meat I've ever tasted, and it was the special, recommended by the wait staff! The chicken-sausage rustica pasta was adequate, as good as a homecooked meal I could've thrown together, not something you'd expect at a fine dining establishment. Finally, the creme brulee had no crust and was cold. We ended up hardly eating anything and left still hungry. The best thing about the meal was the wine we had, but at $140 before tip, I can't recommend this place.
My group enjoyed their lunch and the quiet atmosphere where we could visit and hear each o
ther. Always a favorite with this group. Good food, too.
Last year we went to Basil for Christmas and it was awesome. This year we went for both Thanksgiving and Christmas and it was mediocre. At Thanksgiving, the service was mediocre. Wait staff seemed overworked and stretched. For Christmas, service was nonexistent for the first 80% of our time. We did not even know who was supposed to be our waiter. A dirty plate sat on our table for a long time before it was removed. Last year we came for the menu service Christmas dinner. This year we went to the buffets and that may be the difference. The buffet was quite decent for the price. Serving spoon for mashed potatoes was so caked with potato that it was almost impossible to serve ourselves.
They took a long time to seat us, though we had a reservation. Once seated, we were never greeted by a server. Someone brought water, without taking a drink order, and only one time, when we were over half way through our buffet meal. We had to guess the amount to pay, and left money on the table. Extremely disappointing for our Thanksgiving dinner. We spent $200 between cab fare and the meal, for two people.
FOOD WAS GOOD FOR Thanksgiving we ate in the bar the server was good just had to much to do.
The food was not even warm. The prime rib was to rare and cold. Fruit platter was boring at best. Service was slow and we had to stack dirty plates in order to keep eating. This place was not prepared to handle large numbers of people.
We had our family Thanksgiving dinner at the Basil's Kitchen buffet. The staff was gracious and helpful from the moment we walked through the door. The food was fabulous! We're going to make Basil's our special family gathering place from now on!
It was mine and my husbands birthday We booked the hotel so we could have a night out in the restaurant On booking I referenced our celebration
When we got to the restaurant I said we had a reservation We were shown to a table without anyone checking the reservation
Hence a very casual birthday celebration
The food was ok A bit pricey for what we got
Jason is excellent
The the price of the food was not worth the quality. It tasted like food the you could get anywhere but they charge you more because the restaurant is located in a hotel.
Jason, our server (and bartender), was awesome! Even though he had to handle 2 roles the evening we were there for dinner, we still received great service from him. We ordered the braised pork shoulder and scallop for dinner and both dishes were outstanding, We will definitely be back again to try out other dishes.
Good menu with atypical selections. My wife had the scallops which were very large and very good. I had one of the evenings specials which was a seafood kabob, also very good. We especially liked that we could carry on a conversation without yelling or straining to hear each other. The waitress was also very friendly. Great dinner.
Went here for the Father's Day brunch that they were offering. The food was really good, I wish that I had a bigger stomach so I could have eaten more. They had great selections and a lot that my sister who is a vegetarian could enjoy as well! The only downside to our experience was that our waiters (there wasn't really one assigned to our table it seemed) forgot about us a lot. When my dad sat down with my sister and ordered coffee he never got any and then when I showed up about 5 minutes later and she came to take my order he ordered it again and then she only brought out my coffee. We were not checked in on to see if we needed anything (we did flag someone down for more coffee eventually) I do not think that this was anyones fault, they just didn't have enough wait staff for this brunch as they were all running around. Overall I really enjoyed the meal and would definatley go back again!!
We ate at Basil's on Father's Day. The brunch selection sounded great: Fruit & cheeses, omelets, waffles, prime rib, seafood, etc. Sadly, while the selection was great, the quality was poor. Overcooked, dry, bland. The service was nice. The bloody mary (which was supposed to be a mimosa, but we took it as Fate, and drank it anyway) was WAY to spicy. The desserts were inedible. Very disappointing that so many Brunch Basics went so wrong.
My husband and I have been to 3 brunches and enjoyed the selection of food and also had very good service each time. We went for Easter, Mother's Day and Father's Day. I feel the prices were very reasonable for all the food that was served.
Expensive for what you got but the food was good. Service was exceptional!
Reservation for 8 people. Service was good when it finally started. We had to go looking for server to let them know we would like water and to order. Seemed a little disorganized, lunch was served before our wine and drinks. Food was good.
