This was my second time dining at Basilico and it did not disappoint. The food is outstanding and the service is attentive and courteous. I look forward to sharing this "gem" with friends on my next visit.
A very solid restaurant, food wise. Service can be inconsistent. The last time we dined here they put us at a make-shift table in the middle of the floor up against the bar. This was not a comfortable spot to have a nice dinner for two. People were constantly walking by us looking at our food on the way out.
Very nice lunch. I will return.
Awesome food and great service - my second time here and I plan on being back again soon!
The food is delicious. The staff is attentive and pleasant. We really couldn't ask for more.
Great place to have dinner with friends. Lovely ambiance, great menu, beautiful food presentation (esp dessert), BYO. Service a bit overbearing...felt rushed but ended up spending several hours so overall, excellent evening.
I have never been to Basilico for lunch before and it just never disappoints! The food is excellent as is the atmosphere and the service. Our waiter was extremely knowledgable about the menu and its preparation-next time we will save room for dessert because it sounded decadent but I just didn't have room! Too much champagne...
we have eaten at Basilico abot 6-7 times and food excellent each time. Very well priced.
Food was absolutely delicious. Staff was very attentive. Amazing restaurant.
We were celebrating a double birthday and in my online reservation I had requested 2 birthday desserts. A week before our date I confirmed our reservation by phone, and reiterated how we needed 2 special birthday desserts. Before dessert was served I reminded the waiter to please bring 2 birthday desserts. They brought out only one dessert with a candle and we all had to wait at the table and watch the single candle burn as the waiters scrambled to get our second birthday dessert. Also our head waiter was charming but his assitsants were brusque.
The appetizers were great! My husband had the grouper with mussels in a delicious sauce. My veal was good but under seasoned. I think you should stick with the specials because the chef seems very inspired. They even have their own pastry chef. Dessert was a bananna crumb tart. Very impressed. Great value for tasty food, and beautiful room.
The food and service were fantastic!!! Will be back again soon!
Always have a great meal at Basilico. Recommended to all my friends and family. Great food and service.
Great restaurant . Everything is good and desserts are th best. Will go again soon
IT WAS GREAT,IT WAS MY SECOND TIME THERE, AND THERE WILL BE MORE!
First time at Basilico for lunch; many options including small plates, salads and sandwiches; good value, freshly prepared and good atmosphere.
As usual it was delicious. We went there for lunch had some Pianini's they were great service with an eggplant salad. The service was great.
I took my girlfriend here the other night after typing into google great italian restaurants into google. Saw it won a couple awards and all that good stuff so decided to check it out. We sat out in the back and the night temperature was a cool night but with the heat lamps it made it very comfortable. Service was great the server listed all the specials once we sat down and kept our wine on chill not letting our glasses go empty once. Highly recommend this place!!
Portions were perfect, We split the calamari appetizer and Gnocchi Pasta dish. Main courses I got the chicken dish and my girlfriend got the salmon. All the dishes were perfectly portioned (If you get the pasta dish for one you probably will be too full for a main course.)
The only problem with this place is that the food takes forever to get to your table. But in the meantime they give you a nice warm bread with yummi butter and house sauce. Food is fantastic, its my favourite italian place. I have been there maybe 4 times a month, despite having to drive 45 min.Service is very good. I love the dessert, leave some space for it. They just need to improve the velocity of cooking.
Our visit to Basilico was a real treat. We were greeted warmly and seated immediately. One downside - the server did not tell us the specials for the evening. But the menu is huge and offers plenty to choose from. Prices were reasonable, especially considering the size of the portions, which are immense. Service was timely without being intrusive. The dessert menu is particularly strong, with a fantastic range of choices, from the light and delicious fruit soup to chocolate souffle. The adjacent parking lot is particularly welcomed in a town where parking can be a challenge. We'll definitely be back.
Excellent consistent food very enjoyable.
I had dinner at Basilico twice in the last week. The food is very good, and the portions are reasonable. The stuffed artichoke was my favorite - it even beats my own! The staff was very attentive as well.
I was there with a friend on a beautiful night and we decided to sit in the patio area. Unfortunately, once we received our appetizers we had to move indoors because the mosquitoes were eating us alive!
Truly a place that delivers... food quality and creativity was outstanding... the hands on owner was a treat - very sweet man
Fantastic food. And despite this restaurant being listed in such a high price range on OpenTable, The general pricing of food is $15-30, and dinner for 3 with dessert came out to $90 for excellent food and service.
Food was really great. Only comment would be that the service, although attentive, was rather slow (took over an hour for our entrees to arrive).
Overall, it's a nice place with a great menu. My only complaint would be the lighting it was a little too bright.
Great white tablecloth Italian restaraunt in downtown Milburn. Large menu with pasta, meat and seafood selections. Large assortments of desserts as well. BYO.
Well attended when needed. Food and desserts very good and not too filling. Prices were moderate including house wine. Although they encouraged bring your own wine.
It was a ladies night out for a group of moms. We had a wonderful time. The food was fantastic and the place was really inviting and comfortable. The recommendations of our waiter were spot on. Overall experience has us wanting to come again very soon.
My friend had the pork chop special and loved it. I had the salmon special and it was okay but not great. The salmon was very bland and the mixture of potatoes, corn and asparagus that accompanied the salmon was okay. We both had the house salads and the dessing was too salty.
Service was a little slow.
Was our first time and not the last. The food was very fresh and authentic ( Italian ).
The service very friendly and very attentive.
Definately I will reccomend Basilico to all my friends and family.
This has been my 3rd time having dinner here in a 6 week period as I have been in town visiting family and first time was good and last two times have been horrible. From hostess that don't have a clue that the rest of your party has been sitting at a table for 15 minutes while you stand at the bar becuase they did not know they sat the party. Too a waiter who is RUDE and DOWN RIGHT NASTY the service was horrible. This was the second time in a two week period that we had him and he is horrible. He gave us the wrong check and giving us attidtude when he realized his mistake. Worst was he would ask how are food was and prior to giving him a answer he was already walking away and could care less. Want better food go around the corner!!!!!
Nice ambiance. It's summer time and the weather's gorgeous, so they left the doors open. Loved the open air dining. The appetizers and dessert were better than the entrees. The arancini was delicious and the tartufo (in different flavors) was the best I'd ever had. Don't forget it's BYO.
Waited an hour just for the appetizer and another 45 minutes for dinner. Really, really poor. Food was good, but the service has to get better or this favorite place gets dropped from the rotation.
Food is very good - the chef is talented. The mood is somehow not welcoming. The wait staff is attentive but disaffected and remote. They show no interest in the food or in the diners. They are on autopilot.
Food and Service were excellent. My occaision was a dinner business meeting. We were able to enjoy the meal and have the privacy we needed. The dinner special- breast of duck with figs and a port wine reduction was superb!
Atmosphere was very nice, staff was friendly/attentive and food was great!
Nice foccacia in the bread basket (other bread too though foccacia was best), and we appreciated the three spreads offered.
Appetizers: burrata wasn't as good as that we purchase at the Wine Library - was a bit dry. Tuna tartare was excellent. Beef carpaccio was good though not interesting enough to order again.
Mains: Goat cheese pear ravioli was delicious (if artery-clogging). Vodka sauce not my favorite but ok. Branzino cooked very well.
Service quite nice.
Best Italian food I have found so far in NJ. My wife and I keep coming back, it is well worth the 45 minute drive!
