Basilico Restaurant, located in Millburn, New Jersey was established by co-owners Mario DeMarco and Angelo Delbecchi, formerly of Sergio's, also in Millburn. Both are graduates of the Hotel Management School in Alassio, Italy. Both from Italy, they have brought their original and authentic Italian cuisine to Millburn.
Basilico has a definite New York look and feel, which reflects in our food items. We use the best of ingredients. "Casual and chic" is how we have been described by reviewers. The atmosphere is warm, comfortable and energetic. Our goal is to maintain the highest level of hospitality, remembering that you are the guest, and it is our ultimate goal for you to leave thoroughly satisfied. Special requests can be accommodated.

We have been dining at Basilico for a few years and have experienced changes in various chefs. For a while their desserts were not as good and the cuisine was basic, so we stopped going to experience other places. We usually go there when we have a Papermill show as we like to walk from the restaurant to the show. We decided to try it again and we are glad we did. The food was very good and very tasty (delicious!) The portions are of good size for the prize charged. The specials are a bit pricey but the fare is select. The desserts are also very good(delectable!) We will definitely keep this restaurant as our pretheatre go to place.

Whatever we order, whether a special or items from the regular menu. we have NEVER BEEN DISAPPOINTED !!!!!!

My wife had one of her favorites, shrimp with scallops. I had one of the truffle specials, a seafood risotto with shrimp, crab meat lobster and of course truffles. It was one of the tastiest seafood dishes I have ever had!!!
This is why we return to dine here regularly. Whether is's a special or one of the wonderful selections from the regular menu, EVERYTHING served here is a total delight to eat!!!
Basically, a nice place to have a nice meal with friends. The wait staff was friendly, polite and helpful vis-à-vis the menu. The food was very good, promptly served and the prices were reasonable. And, it was relatively quite with ample space between tables.
I haven't been here in some time. That's changing now. We took a young friend there for lunch and each of us had a super good entree: Arugula Salad with Chicken Cutlet, Snapper in a tomato and caper sauce, and Tuna Nicoise Salad. Loved everything about our lunch. BYOB but also a small selection of wines.
We haven't been here during the summer and when we came back we forgot how wonderful this restaurant is.
The food is outstanding and service was great. They make your meals if you request changes such as no sauce etc.
The desert tartufo is amazing. You get 3 scoops of tartufo in 3 different flavors. We will not wait so long to return
This was a thursday night and was low volume in the restaurant. I have been there many
times in the past and had an excellent meal.
However, that evening, the service was rushed, the environment was noisy and waiters were
not paying attention. When they were they were pouring the wine .. to push the bottle
to empty in order to get us to order a new bottle.. it is transparent it is rude, it is annoying STOPDOING THAT!
The food was uneven. I ordered a braised duck, which should have been called desicated DUCK. it was tastless, dry and extremely HOT (temp), as if it was just microwaved. The whole plate was burning hot with sweet potatoes, that had lost their flavor. It was if the Chef (who was
probably long gone) didn't care.
Could not get the check. As more bottled water and wine was being pushed constantly.
Excellent food !! I came with my wife and we have grilled artichokes and Burrata for appetizer and then for entree Roasted duck boneless and my wife black ink tagliarini was to die for !! Not many restaurants have those creative dishes and for dessert!!! We share chocolate pana cotta delicious!! Very attentive service.
This was our anniversary dinner and when perfect, love this restaurant I'll definitely go back.
This was our first lunch there! The food & service were beyond exemplary! It wasn't too busy so there was no noise & we opened the patio front door to sample the gorgeous weather . All in all a fabulous lunch with fabulous food & service and friends!!! Doesn't get much better than that does it?!
As before, every bite was a total delight . ANYTHING YOU ORDER WILL BE JUST TOTALLY DELICIOUS. We've had beef, pork, seafood, veal and fish main courses and have ALWAYS been pleased.
This also includes the appetizers, main course offerings. Also of special note are the freshly baked bread/roll offerings and the freshly made-in-house desserts.
Combine this with wonderful service and you'll be wanting to return ASAP!
I have to admit...I have been to restaurants all over the world but don't think I've ever had as bad as an experience as I did tonight (anniversary dinner) I don't know how or why we received the horrible service that we did.
This Italian restaurant is a neighborhood gem for my wife and me, although we have to travel about a half hour to this neighborhood. We have visited a few times. The food is genuinely original and served hot and fresh from the kitchen. Each dish is prepared individually. We have had several of their pasta, fish and meat selections and one is better than the last. We have never been disappointed with a meal here. The service is excellent, but perhaps they ask if everything is OK a bit too frequently. One can either BYOB or buy a half or full bottle of wine from the restaurant for your meal. We will be back.
We have been going to Basilico for years and for the first time, I felt it was sub-par. Our waiter was inattentive, novice, and just not good. I don't think he came to the table once the enire evening. The air conditioning was not good so in addition to a fair meal, we were very hot!
The St Tropez salad was a good start but the rest of the meals were all fair. I wouldn't rush back.
I am wondering if it's under new ownership because I didn't recognize the man at the front as being the same as I have seen in the past.
