and have been individually prepared and executed to perfection by the same trio of chefs for over three decades. The platters are delectable, being prepared daily from only fresh, high quality ingredients, served in enormous portions, and complimented by an extensive selection of fine wines. Prices are extremely reasonable and the service is outstanding.
The main dining room is decorated with old world ambiance providing a comfortable, casual feel for families and business groups and a romantic, private setting for couples. The entire ceiling is comprised of individual, hand painted canvases from various local artists from Spain and Italy and is sure to be a topic of conversation.
This restaurant has great food, good prices and it is very authentic.
Authentic Italian food! Everything made from scratch. Loved it!
Salad would have been good but was not drained properly and had a lot of water in the bowl. Pasta was cooked perfectly and the sauce on both mine and my husband's was tasty.
We were greeted nicely and seated on time but it went downhill from there. Franco was our server. He was rushed and somewhat rude. He disappeared for awhile and when we ordered another bottle of wine, he left it on the table. Unfortunately we didn’t have a corkscrew! The calamari was soggy and the tomatoes on the bruschetta were anemic looking. Entrees were no better. We will never return.
Absolutely great food, service and very fair prices.
Old school Italian, complete with soup or salad to accompany your entree. The gnocchi was perfect - soft, but not smushy. The eggplant rolls - I didn't even miss the pasta! Our server, Marja, was attentive and informative, but not in your face. We stumbled upon Basilico and we will definitely be back!
This is an excellent Italian restaurant with a great menu and reasonable prices
We have had the pleasure of dining here for 30 years and it is still the best traditional Italian restaurant in the entire Chicago land area. We live in the Lake Geneva WI area and we make the trek a few times a year and have never been disappointed with service and the excellent food. We highly recommend this restaurant.
Basilico always has delicious food and this past visit was true to course. Our server was attentive without being intrusive. They are great for birthday celebrations.
The food was good all 4 entries were tasty. Our waitress was a little too attentive, it was uncomfortable.
We will go back.
Everything was wonderful! Loved that they sang Happy Birthday. Service was great and fast.
Great food, spectacular service and a wonderful atmosphere of smiles and congeniality.
This restaurant is always a good choice for Italian food. I ordered chicken scallapini from the specials, and my friend had sea bass. The entrees include soup or salad and a side. The food was delicious and the service impeccable. In addition, the location provides excellent parking.
Our server was covering several large parties but she handled it well and was very pleasant. The kitchen may have been overwhelmed too because it took quite a while to get our salads/soups. The food is pretty standard old-school Italian. Nothing fancy. Everyone commented that their dish was salty. Mine was really salty. My brother chooses this place for his birthday and he loves it. I don’t share the love. I feel as though they are overpriced for the quality of the food. The decor is very outdated.
The menu on the Internet was a bit different than the restaurant menu. The food was plentiful. Camille’s were delicious, but the chocolate lava cake tasted as though it was microwaved.
Had a dinner here with an old friend. It was a great place for a long conversation. The food was great—especially as they customized our orders. The food was fine, but the service was the best. Anastasia, our server, was a great guide to the menu and suggested some changes given our tastes. She was personable and attentive. It was a great evening. I look forward to being back next time I am in Chicago.
Food was awesome. Enjoyed the violin & accordion serenade
I read reviews and was hopeful, but the calamari seemed reheated. The main entree was salty and the dessert seemed store bought and did not taste good. The service was great, but the food was disappointing.
Very good service, everyone loved their food and the owner even stop to ask about our meal- I would definitely recommend it and eat there again.
Didn’t realize there would be musicians. This made it soffit to talk
Service was spotty, soup was cold, took quite a while to order a drink, then server only brought one, not both
Manicotti was great. I like a bit of a thinner noodle but that is my preference. Ricotta and sauce in point. Meatballs were delicious - served with meat sauce which was delicious. Salad was like a bagged plain salad. Next time I would try the soup.
Excellent all the way around..food, service, live music, etc!
Felt like we were in the American legion hall stuck in a bland room away from main area when we had a reservation and tables were available.
Good food excellent service nice place over all
Always a good meal.
We had reservations and they had no idea!!
They had several large parties and ignored everyone else. They wanted to seat us out in the mall area ( after we waited 30 minutes for someone to acknowledge our reservations) that looked like we were at mall of
It was my brothers birthday and I can't say how disappointed we were. We did not stay.
Great food! Good wine. Great service.
The food was top notch. Wait staff knowledgeable of all aspects of menu. Appetizers of zucchini, stuffed clams and fried calamari were served piping hot and were nice portions. We shared among 8 in our party. Veal dishes were the predominant choice but three of us ordered seafood. Raves from both sides. My saltimboca had three generous pieces and was very tender; the sauce was delicious! Desserts were a tiny bit pricey but good and well sized for sharing:cheesecake, spumoni , and tartufo. As for drinks, we only ordered house moscato and red-they were just fine for our tastes.
I love this long time local neighborhood gem. Authentic and delicious Italian food. I always look forward to being nearby so I can get my fix of their stuffed gnocchi. So pillowy soft with a flavorful vodka sauce. (And I don’t normally like ricotta cheese and HATE spinach. But this dish makes them so fantastic that this spinach hater LOVES it!) The meat sauce on their other pastas is wonderful as well. They have the standard Italian fare as well as interesting and different dishes. All meals come with a soup or salad option. The soups are very good. As is the fresh, hot bread brought out right away.
Try them. You won’t regret it.
The pollo vesuvio can be prepared boneless or bone-in, and was prepared perfectly. I would definitely return and order this dish again.
New Years Eve dinner before catching early flight out the next morning. Limited menu but enough choices for all tastes. First time here. Will definitely come back
Basilico Ristorante turned put to be quite a find. Out of town young professional relatives wanted to meet up for dinner prior to their next day flight from O'hare with their tree lively boys. Good value wine list and some if the best Italian dishes anywhere.
Great family restaurant and I love Marsha. One of the best servers I've ever had. She adds touches that just make you want to come back all the time.
Great meal, great service, we will be back! Neighborhood gem!
This restaurant has an extensive selection of Italian entrees. Soup or salad is included. I chose the lemon veal, and it was wonderful. In addition, even though it was crowded, the service was fast and efficient. There's also a large parking lot.
As always, I enjoyed everything. I was disappointed to hear the next day that 3 of my guests were ill after dinner. I felt terrible about it, but this is definitely not at all normal for this restaurant. I was fine.
The food is so consistently great! Been going for years.
Had chicken Limone this time. Usually get pasta. Salads, cannoli also delicious.
This is a great neighborhood gem and worth the drive even though it is not in MY neighborhood. Service team has been there forever and provides high level of personalized service. I have never had a bad meal here and have used it for business lunches and dinners as well as family outings. Veal is melt-in-your-mouth tender. Chicken parm is the best around. Unique pasta dishes. Try the ricotta and spinaci if you like a good garlic kick. I love this place.
great Italian eatery. Fun for the whole family.Waiter a little slow though.
Went in the place for my 12th year wedding anniversary, and it exceeded my expectations. Me and my wife enjoyed all the food but the topper was our waitress Marsha who was to date the best waitress I've ever had. Will definitely go back and request Marsha everytime.
