Basilic Restaurant serves superb Swiss-French cuisine in an atmosphere of old-world charm. Owner and chef Bernard Althaus brings lifelong cooking experience and a family tradition of restaurant proprietorship from his native Switzerland to the dishes he creates daily from scratch. The menu changes regularly, and specials are featured according to season and what's available at the local farmer's market. Typical menu items may include appetizers like viande sechee "bundnerfleish," or Swiss-style air-dried beef; entrees like coq au vin, steak au poivre and seafood risotto; and desserts such as caramelized pecan walnut chocolate tart. The carefully chosen wine menu features a wonderful selection of French, Swiss and domestic wines.
Basilic Restaurant offers an intimate, romantic atmosphere with a formal table setting. It seats up to 24 people, and reservations are recommended. Basilic Restaurant is located on Balboa Island in Newport Beach.
