Our Chiangmai curry noodle (Kai Soi) is also people's favorite. Try some of our signature cocktails while you are here, Basil Bliss is an excellent choice. We hope to see you soon :)

Always a pleasure to come here when we're in SoMa.
Great food and drink as always, but sadly Basil Canteen staff wasn’t prepared for the re-opening demand for dining. Hope they can hire more servers soon
This was hit and miss. Some of the food was amazing, and some of it was just okay. The garlic green beans were so good. My pad Thai was funky, and I couldn’t finish it.
Excellent foods at a very reasonable price - service was friendly and attentive
nice place located out of the beaten path in a rather industrial neighborhood . simple service, decent food, fastly prepared for a business lunch.
the set up is nice in a former brick warehouse.
Great date night at Basil Canteen. Our waiter was patient and very accommodating. Highly recommend for Thai Fusion in this area at a pocket - friendly price. Ordered the charred lamb rack and was fully satisfied.
Delish and very efficient and friendly service. Thanks
Nicely spaced apart and PPE everywhere. Good volume was good. Food was delicious.
The food is yummy. My friend and I split a meat plate with a veggie plate. They each came with a scoop of rice so it was plenty. Lunch was 33 dollars without drinks but worth it. I love the ambiance in this old brick building.
Family dinner before Immersive Van Gogh. Excellent food and drinks and service. First time; will return.
Great food, great service!
The drinks were 10/10
Great good and drinks, very quiet and social distancing was used.
Excellent south east asian cuisine.
Imaginatively prepared and presented.
Food was amazing. Service was quick and great. Super recommended.
This was one of my best experiences for outside dining! The food is delicious they have a great happy hour and the staff was awesome!!!!
Food and service was outstanding! My other half and I are both vegan and sometimes struggle with making odd requests at restaurants that are not completely vegan. Basil Canteen honored all requests and did so with a smile! I am so thankful. Great food and great attitudes made for a perfect date night.
Wonderful! Great service and delicious food! What more you ask for! 😋🙌🏽😃
Very nice service. Ambiance was great for group
The food was unexpected but delicious and creative. Space is rather cavernous and loud but manageable.
Went here for SF restaurant week, and was a little disappointed in the process. We were seated without receiving the RW menu, so had to ask for it additionally. When the courses came out, it was incredibly fast — we were still eating from the previous course when the next came out, ready to clear our plates. I think the speedy service would be great for a normal dinner format (ordering off the menu, not in courses), but we felt rushed and like we couldn’t enjoy each course. Staff was very friendly, however. The duck curry was delicious, tapioca dumplings were INCREDIBLE, but the larb gai was average. I would suggest to others looking for Thai food in the area specifically, but not as a out-of-your-way option.
Went for restaurant week - great dinner options, very well worth it, would go again.
Fantastic food! Great spot for a large party. We had a table for 8 and enjoyed sharing dishes. Really tasty.
such consistently good food and friendly staff
the green curry short ribs were amazing- and I loved the Thai- spiced corn fritter appetizer. The popcorn chicken appetizer was just ok. Food is SO GOOD here! Wish the music was a little quieter
This is one of the best Thai restaurants in the city. I love the Mago Sticky rice above everything and the Full Moon cocktail
Solid. Great happy hour menu.
We enjoyed a delicious pre-show dinner with delicious cocktails!
Good experience and friendly staff. Overall everyone in our party enjoyed their meals.
They seemed short of staff the night we dined which resulted in slow service although the owner/ manager stepped in. The food we had was outstanding and there are a lot of dishes still to try, so we will be back.
FANTASTIC FOOD! great atmosphere. Our server had a strange attitude and seemed annoyed to have to take our order, and had zero personality, but did take the time to take a decent picture, so I appreciated that!
Food was so good- we had a party of 8 and everyone loved their food- and my friend was so glad they had gluten free items and a GF separate menu!
It has always been good and I return repeatedly with friends and sometimes by myself. Convenient to South of Market performance venues like Oasis for before or after the show meals and cocktails.
Food came out before drinks arrived.
Really good Thai food. The fresh spring rolls and the various noodle dishes were a hit for our group.
The dishes are reasonably priced and very tasty. And the drinks menu is interesting and has something for everyone. Service was prompt and courteous; they helped us get out fast so we could make a show nearby. I'm not a big fan of community tables. I'd put up with it to eat there again however.
Food and service, as usual, did not disappoint. Basil Canteen is in our regular rotation for a reason.
I really enjoyed the food but the service was pretty bad. I had a reservation but we weren't seated until 20 minutes after the reservation. After being seated, there was one server in our area it it took her forever to get to our table. Also the mixed drinks weren't very good either. Avoid the Full Moon drink.
Excellent food. Happy hour specials were nicely priced with variety.
Great spicy Thai food in a cool ambiance. Friendly service.
Don’t think I saw their “Boat Noodle” on the menu the last time I was there, but I tried it this time and it was really good..
