I always come with a big group of friends after coming from a show. The staff has always been gracious with our big party's needs and our late reservation. It is just the right "wrap-up" of our evening.

The prawn and vegetable dish were tasty but the pad Se ew was tasteless. That was very disappointing .

The food was amazing! I’ve had the lemon chicken soup and Pad Thai w/ beef instead of shrimps.
I ordered a Thai tea to drink and got free refills.
Unfortunately the noise level is not very good, I Saturday very close to another table, it was very cold and this forced us to keep on our jackets.
All in one I highly recommend the food and you should definitely give it a try.

Great authentic Thai food. Nice ambiance, good service. A little pricey but reasonable. Took the signed bill by accident, so they called my home phone several times. Brought the signed tab back in the afternoon. Tipped them at 20%.

Whenever we want a night out for good Thai, we think of Basil Canteen. Don’t miss the kang kiow wan roti appetizer, the flavors are just wonderful!

Unbeatable food, great service, quick service. Always hot, fresh, and very consistent! Drive from North Bay to eat Thai food here. I've tried several other establishments closer and they cannot compete. Always the same quality and freshness. Try the middle dishes, and the spring rolls are wonderful.

Food was great. Service was awful! The server was rude, didn’t check on us, will as us a question and just walk away leaving us at mid sentence. Finally she didn’t ask if we needed coffee or desert. She just brought the bill! And actually we wanted desert. It was just a bad experience. Very disappointed and I was embarrassed to have suggested this place.

The food was really great, with a good price, especially for San Francisco. Unfortunately, it was a hot day and we had to sit upstairs, which made it a hot experience in so many ways ;) I recommend more fans or air conditioning.

Perfect for a big group; ample room at the table and we could still see and hear each other. There was one dish that was just so salty that no one much of it. I'd come back though - it was a good experience, plus it was easy enough to get to and leave from. They do close early for a Saturday night (kitchen closed at 10:00 pm). We got our orders in on time and they let us hang out past 11.

The restaurant called the day before the reservation to say they had a problem in the kitchen and they would be closed until after the weekend. They made a reservation for us at their sister restaurant, Thai Basil, also on Folsom, between 7th and 8th.
This review is for that restaurant. Overall very good, a bit noisy. But they have happy hour specials on small plates and drinks that make it an awesome value! Food is very good. Will go back there as well!

This was my second time visiting Basil Canteen and each time, I've walked away very happy. The food is wonderful with lots of flavor and color. The veggies are cooked to perfection! I'm only sad that I couldn't take my leftovers to go since I was on my way to a show for the evening. Highly recommended!

The menu here is very similar to Canteen's sister restaurant, Basil Thai. All our food was excellent, with many dishes that you don't usually see at your average Thai place. We sat upstairs, which was nice because it was a little quieter. Great experience!

I chose Basil Canteen as dinner spot nearby a bar where I was hosting my birthday party. I've been here before and love the food, ability to host larger parties (we were 8) and proximity to fun bars. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. Everyone loved our food!

Brought the office gang here since they can seat a large party (12). We went family style and had a great time. The place is relatively quiet and good for large party conversations. The wait staff provided very good service and was attentive. The food is extremely good here and the range of options is terrific. The prices are reasonable for food and drinks. While not a fancy place, this place is great for a casual business meeting or a get together with friends/family. Highly recommend.

I went with some friends for dinner. The food was good and they have great options but service was problematic. I ordered noodles with tofu and it came without them and so they had to add it later to my dish. Also they took away the spicy add on things from our table while we were still eating. The waitress didn't even care to ask if we were done with it.
