The food was good, as usual. The acoustics in there are awful, though. I could not hear conversation from my companion across the table for two.
Meal was great as usual. Everything here is great!
Once again, we had a great dinner. We had fun and the food was great. For me their best dish is the Bannock Fish.
Our table was ready a few minutes after we arrived and everyone was very pleasant. Our food, drinks and service were outstanding.
We loom forward to our next visit with friends and family.
Basil is a great spot for groups or dates and it is so nice that they take reservations on open table and never make you wait. Even when I have called being a few minutes late they never make a big deal of it and are always accommodating. The setting may be loud for someone who wants quiet.
Since we were there on a first Friday I think having a few more staff would have been a good idea. Diamond was very nice but i think a little overwhelmed.
My wife and I went for our date night. This was our third time coming here. This has quickly become our go-to date spot. My wife has a dairy allergy and they cook with a lot of coconut milk so she can get almost everything on the menu. The food is amazing, the service is always stellar and we love the ambiance and downtown location. I highly recommend any of their curry dishes, the Thai Dumpling app or the General Tso’s with fried rice. Haven’t had a bad dinner yet. Easily the best Asian cuisine in the Canton area.
I always get the Korean steak and it was top notch, as always!!! The martini’s were perfection. The decor, hospitality and good was amazing! My favorite restaurant in downtown Canton!
Good Chinese menu. Price was fair. The restaurant was too loud to even carry on a loud conversation. No theme to the decor. Can use 4x the amount of foam sound dampeners on the walls.
Got together with friends for my birthday and to just spend some time relaxing. Everything was wonderful as usual! One of our favorite places to eat in Canton!!
Fast service. Friendly.
The night we dined was a busy night in the restaurant, with many activities occurring nearby. We had reservations and were seated promptly. The service was great throughout. Where the experience fell short was in the wine and the sushi. We ordered a Malbec wine and it stated somewhat sour, as if it had been poured from a bottle opened days ago. The sushi we ordered (Philly roll and Volcano roll( didn't pack the taste we've enjoyed at other venues. My entrée of spicy garlic fish was good but not great.
Reservations made was easy. We knew it was going to be a busy night, however we didn’t anticipate that we would feel so rushed to eat. My Hibachi rice that is always my go to was very blah- none of the usual vegetables included- just rice and chicken. Appetizer came at the same time as the meal.
I've been to Basil many times. I truly love it -- once I am seated. But, on the last two occasions, despite the fact that we had reservations, we still had to wait upwards of 30 minutes to get our table. In a normal circumstance, this might be okay. But, when we're holding tickets for a movie or play -- dinner then becomes rushed -- despite the wonderful efforts of the servers who try to "make up" for the delay with outstanding customer service. Our intention to order appetizers and drinks was also cut short -- making our dollars spent a bit less than if we would have had more time to really savor our meal.
We had a waitress that was not engaging and forgot to bring me chopsticks until I was done with my food. It was disappointing that a simple request was too much for her to follow through with. To be honest, the food there is not as good with a fork.
