Basil Asian Bistro Ratings and Reviews
The food is always excellent, but this last time in, it was extremely loud. we were in with another couple and it was difficult to talk across the table. There was a big table of people down the middle of the room, that may be why it was so loud. I hope next trip in it isn't so loud.
The menu has so many options! Noodle dishes, rice dishes, choice of protein. Then there is the sushi! You could get just the sushi, but then I would have missed out on trying something new from the Thai portion of the menu. Basil never disappoints with the variety of options.
There is nothing better then Basil. It really works for any occasion big or small. It’s my friends and families ‘go to’ Place. Please never leave lol my husband and I love it. We love reserving a table via your website. It’s so easy and everyone is so kind and attentive.
Basil seems to be slipping. The service was slow and our meals weren't at the spice level we requested. The Thai cashew didn't come with cashews and the server said that they were out,but then she brought uncooked ones to the table. Not the experience we had become accustomed to.
Second time in the month of August we visited. Nicola was our server again, and she is great. This time we had three friends with us for their first visit to Basil. For some, it was their first time eating sushi;-) The Shaggy Dog and other special sushi were delicious. Try them. Everyone had different drinks, apps and entre and everyone liked everything. I had Pad Thai and there was so much I took half home for dinner the next night. Lots of shrimp and chicken and a great flavor. Deb said the house wine was delicious. I like the pomegranate ginger mojito, myself.
Definitely give it a try. I know we'll be back.
We had a reservation and were seated promptly. Our server checked with us frequently and couldn't have been better. We eat here about once a month for lunch and are fans. Unfortunately, last Friday two of the three entrees were a disappointment, lackluster, not bad but a little boring. I would say any establishment can have an off night, and we'll definately return.
WOW! We went to Basil for our anniversary and it was amazing. Nicola, our waitress was exceptional, there when you needed her, but not hovering. Recommended a special sushi roll (spicy dragon) that was wonderful. My husband had a chef's special that was a fish dish and I had the Korean BBQ Beef, also a chef's special. We did a little surf and turf and tried each other's dinner. Loved them both. For desert we split a tuxedo cheesecake. DELISH and not too heavy.
If I had one complaint it was the $2 additional fried rice instead of white/brown. It was OK, but next time I'm going to just get the white or brown.
We sat in the window and so had a view of the diners on the sidewalk eating area. They seemed to be enjoying the weather and the food. A couple of them looked to have ordered the Pad Thai which looked awesome and such a huge portion that everyone took some home.
Basil is in an old brick building and as such there is a little noise when the place fills up, but not so much that you couldn't hear those at your table. The bar area looked fun and I had a pomegranate and ginger mojito that was out of this world! Well, OK, I had two.
Thanks Basil and thanks Nicola for making our 41st anniversary a memorable one.
Pleasantly surprised had not been to downtown canton for many years and Basil was great example of city revitalization. Three old friends reconnecting over dinner was so enjoyable due to great service, food, and surrounding. Love that so much of original interior was preserved. Definitely will be back and recommend to friends!
I had Grouper Mango something or other. The sauce was cold and the Grouper had way too much breading on it, and there was way too much of it. The sushi Ihad before dinner as an appetizer was dry and tasteless. For what we paid for two dinners and one drink, it was not a good value and I will not return.
We have always enjoyed Basil, but we're beginning to see "warning signs". The last few times we've gone, we've noticed a delay in the timeliness of our server coming to the table & water glasses being refilled. It's still one of our favorite choices (we eat out 2 or 3 times a week), but have seen restaurants get "sloppy" before. I hope they tighten things up again going forward.
Have visited Basil many times, but this time it was a "father-daughter" dinner.
My wife hates sushi but my daughter loves it and this gave me an opportunity to try a variety of Basil's sushi dishes. IT WAS EXCELLENT - and my daughter thought it was terrific!
