Basi Italia Ratings and Reviews
I love this restaurant so much. Really enjoyable meal, I especially loved the cheese creme brulee appetizer and eggplant parmigiana. We had cannolis for dessert which were so tasty! The ambience is lovely and intimate and the staff is always so friendly and accommodating.
Celebrated my wife's birthday there. Nice, affordable wine list. Our waitress was exceptional - good suggestions, there when you needed here, friendly, knowledgeable. My wife's scallops and my lobster risotto were very good. Her canolli and my tiramisu were outstanding. In fact, the best tiramisu I've had anywhere. Great experience! Thanks so much!!
The food was wonderful but it was so noisy we could barely hear ourselves talk. We were also seated right next to the bathroom in the back, and there was an awful smell coming from it. I actually had to get up to ask someone to spray it down it was so bad. Not really a great birthday evening for my boyfriend...
This was hands down the best meal we have had since our last visit to Basi a few years ago. We have no clue what took us so long to return, but you better believe we will be back ....tomorrow? This was our 6 mo wedding anniversary and from the wait staff, to the budino, it couldn't have been better. There are no words. You must go and experience it yourself!! We got the sautéed calamari, the soup of the day, shrimp and cauliflower, we split, we split the scallop dish that was an experience in itself with the flavor combinations of the sweet sweet potato, salty Brussel sprouts, and perfectly cooked jumbo scallops wrapped in prosciutto, and the eggplant parmesean. Thank you so much basi for an amazing night!!!
Basi Italia is the ultimate neighborhood restaurant. Located in the middle of a residential neighborhood just north of Goodale Park, Basi Italia is a quaint, cozy restaurant in which several of the patrons appeared to be regulars. While the atmosphere is very pleasant, the food is the reason to frequent Basi Italia. The salad, main course, and dessert are all outstanding. Regardless of the food ordered, one will not be disappointed.
I'm a regular at Basi but have to report a disappointing experience. Food which is always great was just average. Scallops way overcooked, brussell sprouts burnt, sweet potatoes overcooked and mushy....chicken dinner was good but odd accompaniments...Egg plant parmesan had way too much cheese. Disappointed with few pasta choices on the current menu..
Great ambiance. Very personable service. The space is very small so noise can be an issue but the food is amazing. We were there to celebrate a birthday and our server asked who the birthday person was as soon as he came over. Also very accommodating to gluten free restrictions.
They do a lot of different foods with combined flavors you can't find anywhere else. The overall taste is not worth the price in my opinion. The venue is very small and felt as though I was having dinner with a another couple next to us (all that separated us was a structural pole). The outside patio looks like it would be nice in the summer time.
Hadn't been to Base Italia for many years, so Hubby and I decided to revisit during restaurant week. We went on a Tuesday night and it was packed. It is a small dining area with very little space between tables. As a result, it was very noisy. We enjoyed our food choices very much and got different items from the pre-fix menu to try. The service was impeccable. If you've never tried, it's a definite on your footy bucket list. Although it's name suggests Italian, it's more eclectic Italian. Only one pasta dish on the menu when we were there.
Probably a top 3 favorite restaurant in Cbus for me and my wife. We went here after we got married last year and have loved it ever since. Food is incredible and reasonably priced. The only con is that seating is very limited, and on our last visit we ended up at a table for two beside a very annoying and loud couple right beside the entrance to the restrooms...other than that, every experience has been very good. P.S. try the beet salad and eggplant parm...two best things on the menu IMO.
We had an incredible experience from start to finish. I live in Victorian Village and had never gone to Basi Italia until last weekend. When we arrived we had the choice of sitting in the main dining area or the enclosed patio. We chose the patio and were led out to it through the kitchen. The chef said hi to us as if we were his old friends. We had the choice of sitting at the bar or a high top. We chose the table and because the chair was metal and I was wearing a dress, the host offered me a warmed blanket to sit on which was such a welcoming touch. We got a bottle of the Au Bon Climat Pinot Noir which was fantastic as well as the Zucchini Pronto, eggplant Parmesan, and tiramisu! The entire meal was fantastic and each course was perfectly timed-out. Our server's name was Chelsea and she did a fantastic job of offering suggestions as well as being there when we needed her without her constantly checking in. Overall this was one of the best dining experiences I've had in a long time.
As always, exceptional. We had a wonderful, delicious, romantic NYE dinner here. Our server was knowledgeable and helpful - even going so far as to proactively offer extra toast points to go with our fois gras terrine (mouth-watering) when he noticed we had come out uneven. My lobster risotto had even more lobster meat than I had expected, and was rich and scrumptious. Basi was the perfect, cozy spot to escape the hustle and bustle of the Holiday Season, and have a phenomenal meal. Thank you, Basi!!
We went for New Years Eve before going to a movie. We had a great time sitting out on the covered patio. The food was amazing. We had the winter salad and it was wonderful as well as all of the entrees we selected. You can never go wrong having dinner at this restaurant.
We came for Christmas Eve. It has been years since our previous visit. It was very quiet and it also was quite chilly in the restaurant. Service was very nice. Food was not very tasty. Lobster and shrimp bisque had very little sea food, predominantly potato. Beet salad had a dry feta which made the salad dry overall. Eggplant Parmesan was a large portion and tasty with some spicing added. My husband tried a spinach salad and a cod dinner and declared the food bland. A shared Tiramisu was okay. Wine and coffee were fine. Perhaps it was what we selected but I don't think we'll return.
