Bashi at Terranea Resort
Our 26 Wedding Anniversary
I know that resort dining is always expensive but this restaurant was ridiculous for the value. We paid over 100.00 for one appetizer, one entree and 2 drinks. I ordered the Lobster and Pork rice dish. When I told the server, she stirred my dish around and showed me the lobster "pieces" which were not much bigger than the grains of rice. The pork consisted of 5 slicers each about the size of a quarter. The rest was mediocre rice. The cost of this entree was 30.00. The server tried to make it right but bringing me some more lobster. It was shredded and looked like it came from a can. We sat on the patio which faced the pool and lots of screaming kids. The inside of the restaurant was a very loud bar atmosphere. I would not eat here or recommend this restaurant.
Food is inconsistent!!!! It all depends on WHO is in the kitchen!!!! Where is management???
The fish on the sushi was too fishy, we didnt like anything and sent a lot of the food back. not worth the price
The sushi was great, loved the matcha green tea, surf and turf was delicious as well. Service was a little off (brought us the wrong dish twice) but overall a very relaxing and yummy dinner.
The food is phenomenal and Bashi never lets us down. The outdoor seating overlooking the pool and ocean is hard to top, and the food is always hot, fresh and consistent. The service is excellent as well so do yourself a favor and hit up Bashi during your next stay at Terranea.
The food and ambiance were excellent. We had a range of items from the shared menu, entrees, sushi and dessert. Everything was delicious!
Everything from the service to the incredible food was amazing. Can’t wait to come back and try the “Chinese “ part of the menu! We had amazing sushi and also the Friday night skewers special. Just so impressed with the entire menu! The cocktails were incredible. We had their version of a spicy margarita. I forgot the name! I also had a glass of savignon blanc. Perfect night with my date!
Food was great and service was wonderful. Only disappointment was they had no draft beers and the hot sake machine was out.
Great food as usual! I recommend the shishito peppers and the brussel sprouts (amazing!). Unfortunately the service did not match the food. The waiter was distracted and I had to grab other waiters in order to get someone to come to our table.
Good food, fast service and not outrageously expensive for resort dining.
Beautiful restaurant, exceptional service. Food underwhelming but on balance, I’d definitely come back! Spectacular views!
I’ve been there many times and it was always excellent but this last time was even better! They changed some of the recipes which normally I wouldn’t like but but somehow they inproved It! And I consider myself a gourmet.
Nice view, seated right away with a short reservation time-Great. Food came out quickly. No rush. Good service. Bread was comped. Would definitely recommend
Food, overpriced for what it is.
Example. Wok fried octopus only had 4 time pieces?!!!
Server spoke too fast for us to understand what she was saying.
Bill was over $200 for 2 people. We had 1 drink each.. n we were still not full afterwards. I would not recommend to friends.
Had been here several times in the past, usually good, but last Saturday every dish was poorly prepared (it seemed like they had all been prepared well head of time). Sat outside hoping to have a quiet experience, but the constant movement of space heaters and the load squeaking noises that came with it ruined that part of the visit. Don't expect to return, and have already shared with a couple of friends the negative experience
We were seated on time then did not see a server for 15 minutes! We left after that. 2nd time we have had a service issue there. There won’t be a 3rd!
Great dinner. We had several items from the menu and all were “lick the plate” good. Papaya salad, cucumber dressing edamame, chicken dumplings, sizzling steak, garlic noodles and crab fried rice. I’m getting hungry just writing this. Our waiter recommended the Whiskey bread pudding for dessert and I can say don’t miss it! Only drawbacks were it’s resort loud and we sat next to the doors to the outside so we kept getting blasted by cold air. It was a cold night and no one wanted to sit outside including us but we survived.
Very nice ambiance at the Terranea Resort in Palos Verdes. The menu offered a lot of choices, but all the food was very salty and overpriced.
We were so disappointed in the sushi at Bashi. We asked the waitress if the chef could make albacore sashimi with crispy onions and we got thick fishy slices of albacore by itself. The rolls weren’t very flavorful either.
It’s an average restaurant as I expected it should be. Food was good and nothing extras. It’s about the ambiance I should say. It’s excellent.
> We have eaten at Bashi several times and always had a great experience until last night. Here is what happened. We had made reservations for 7:30 and when we arrived our table was ready and we were sat down right away. We ordered a few beers, a bottle of wine and a cocktail of grey goose, ginger ale and cranberry. The server came back and said they were out of the wine and brought us a couple of samples of other similar wines which was very nice. The cocktail came and was not right. When we asked what was wrong they said they were out of ginger ale which wasn't right. Why would they have not told us before serving it? It was replaced with another drink. I know the food comes out as it is finished in the kitchen which is fine. What I didn't understand is why the jasmine rice that I'm almost sure that is always ready and a base for many of the dishes was served last. The whole sea bass seemed to be half the size we usually get and that along with that and all the other pates very very salty. The fried rice was not fried and the noodle dish had very little if any vegetables inside. The deserts were good. The service was OK. I feel your prices are a little high but the food had always been good and we kept coming back. To go out and have a meal for 6 of us and spend $450 to have a sub par meal we were not happy.
Food was very salty
I told everyone we were celebrating a birthday. No acknowledgement for most part. The biggest problem is that we ordered a lot of food and told our waiter to space it out. Starting with appetizers. Our food was rushed out to the table in no order at all. We were forced to pack up food so we could have enough space on the table. I asked twice to please tell kitchen to hold off. No success. Our appetizers came towards the end of dinner. It was a disappointment. Normally we had celebrated special occasions at the Catalina kitchen. But Bashi has to learn a few things. Service should be important and the kitchen should work with the the front of the house. Food was good but my mood was ruined by the order and untimeliness of having so much food rushed out at once and making it my problem. We did not enjoy dinner and will not be back. It’s too bad. Terranea should be enjoyed by the local community. Sad. We were told later after the food was serviced to only order one item at a time. Ridiculous. Very unprofessional staff and kitchen
Everything was soo tasty!!!
FOOD WAS GOOD AND THE SERVICE WAS EXCELLENT I LIKE THE AMBIANCE ALSO.
We came here to celebrate my boyfriends birthday and it was awesome! We ate family style and sat outside. It was so beautiful and the service was great.
Food and service were not as good this time as previous times
Always a great meal and delicious cocktails, but a bit pricey.
This was our 4th visit to Bashi and it was perfect once again. It happened to be a quiet evening which was perfect for my birthday dinner. I am local to the area, but whenever we visit Terranea, it always feels like we're on holiday, even if just for 2 hours. The dragon sushi roll was excellent, as was the sashimi. We had a salt and pepper shrimp dish along with a noodle side (I can't recall the name of the dish) and it was all excellent. It was slightly cooler for this time of year, but there are plenty of heaters to take the chill off the patio, which is where we prefer to sit. Already looking forward to our next visit!
SUSHI BAR had a terrible odor!!!! Something must have spoiled!!!! FRESH FISH SHOULD NOT SMELL AS IT DID!!! AVOIDED THE SUSHI AS A RESULT!!!! NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED IMMEDIATELY!!!
The food was, I must admit, quite surprisingly good, considering the plethora of terrible reviews on Yelp -- although they may have aided me in knowing what to avoid ordering, as the items I chose were rarely if ever mentioned by any Yelpers. The service was INCREDIBLE: attentive, gentle, kind, thoughtful. I don't remember our waiter's name but it was a young man with dark-rimmed glasses. He was super sweet. The atmosphere was stunning, of course, and the main reason we went in spite of the terrible food reviews. Specifically, the shishito peppers were STUPENDOUS. I would order those over and over again if I could. The bacon and crab fried rice did have bits of hard, dried-up rice, but the flavor was smoky and good, and the three juicy, fat crab claws, one for each person at the table, was a pleasant and satisfying surprise. The okra eggplant curry stew was adequate: flavor was a bit bland but the bowl was filled with delicious vegetables.
All the food is pretty good. Except the fried rice, it was very bland.
This was a fantastic meal, with great service in a spectacular resort. Food was delicious!
Nice Ambience, good quality food, but the price in return for what you get is way too expensive.
Portion size is often erratic!!! Sushi was not the freshest this time and quite disappointing!!! Not sure what the problem may be. Service is always very good, however, their food is suffering!! Food needs some attention!!!!
Great food; greater service and at a very decent price
It was a lovely night with beautiful views and delicious food
we let them know there was a birthday and nothing was done for it...their "whole" fish is mostly bone and overfried. drinks are good, so are the Brussel sprouts
Fun dinner with a group of friends. Enjoyed the gorgeous view, the cool beer list, the lettuce wraps, and the magician’s performance.
