Great friendly service and excellent tasting food. Look to go up a spice level if you are looking for something with a bit more heat however the standard spice level meal I had was spot on for flavor. The main dish portions are on the big side so watch out with those equally big starters. Bistro is definitely an accurate description with a great casual feel. Great bar eating area at front and great mix of seating options at the back. Good happy hour options if you like a refreshment or two.... We recommended it to friends who are visiting this week.

We were at Basera for a birthday. It also happened to be on a Saturday night near Halloween, so the place was decorated, much of the staff wore costumes and there was a festive atmosphere. The only downside was that the staff was a bit distracted and super-busy, so the service wasn't as quick as it might have been. BUT everyone was very nice, and the food was terrific. (We really loved the food.) The happy hour drinks were a lot of fun too. We have happy memories of a special dinner, and we will definitely go back.

We were disappointed. We went for dinner after a show. Our fault , we didn’t do enough research. This was our last dinner in NYC before heading home. We wanted a top rate restaurant.

It is a local very casual spot. Even has a dart board.

The staff was friendly and did their best.

The best Indian food I have found in Hell’s Kitchen. Unbelievably good food and great service. The owner is very visible checking in on all of his customers.

Very good service. Two of the three meals came out warm, not hot. Seemed to be a timing issue. Also the tandoori fish was very dry.

VERY disappointing!! Chicken tikka masala was terrible - chicken pieces in nothing more than tomato sauce. No seasoning. I can make better Indian food at home and I'm not Indian. Only redeeming quality was naan bread. There's gotta be better Indian food in NYC. Pass this place up!

The food was delicious and the service was great. The young men were attentive and friendly.

I had saag with chicken. Large portions and very tasty. My friend ordered fried calamari which was also wonderful.

I generally don't leave reviews unless the experience was extremely positive or extremely negative. This experience last night was unfortunately the latter. Service was terrible: We were left unattended for huge chunks of time, even after attempting to flag folks down. Servers appeared disinterested for the most part. No check ins after we placed the order, and we had to wait another 30 minutes for the check after we finished. Food: Decent prefixe dinner price. Mediocre food, not great, not terrible. It did take 3 hours to get an app, main course and dessert because "it takes the grill a while to warm up." We sat 45 minutes before the app arrived, and another hour and change before the entrees arrived. We were there for 3 hours and ending up taking the dessert to go. Overall: Not a great experience for us. We are four 30 somethings. Super loud. This place might be great for maybe younger folks who don't mind extra loud music, basically no service, mediocre food, and who have 3+ hours to have a basic three course meal. (That wasn't sarcasm.)

Music (not Indian) too loud. Shaky tables. Very good goat biryani and good prix fixe menu.

Overall, the food was quite good, especially the coconut naan and fish tikka masala (wonderful salmon). Our primary concern was lack of appropriate staff. Staff were quite attentive when we arrived, but as the place filled up, there were not enough people to attend to all the tables. After twenty minutes of waiting for our post dinner tea order, we moved forward with the bill to get to our show on time. Overall though, the Indian food was quite tasty.

Great food. Exceptional service. Adjustable "hot-ness" levels upon request. Crunchy grilled vegetables--not all mush, as is frequent with Indian restaurants, I think. Only try the pickle martini if you can stand strange-ness.

The food & service was great. They were having some technical difficulties with the sound system so it was dead silence as we were the only couple in the restaurant. All that we heard was our own conversation and the conversations of the staff and someone trying to fix the sound system.

I order lunch from here often and I always order the same thing (Chicken Vindaloo - spicy) and I love it. I had lunch at the physical location the other day with a friend and it was great. Its a local business lunch spot but it wasn't overly busy. Service was good. We were seated promptly and I was in and out within my hour long lunch time. No complaints.

It is my favorite Indian restaurant in the city. The staff is friendly and have to say know me by now. The happy hour is great. It is the way I like my vegetable korma - more of a nut sauce base than tomato. Cocktails are fresh and hit the spot. They have paneer tikki. sooooooo good. And pretty true to spice level ordered.

we came here before headed to a show on Broadway as our son wanted Indian food. when we arrived there was a couple sitting next to us and may be one other table was occupied. Our food came after other people who arrived after us where served and the poor couple sitting next to us got there food after us! The waiter just dropped the food on the table without a word or explanation of which dish was which. When they first poured water they filled 2 glasses and then for some reason filled the 3rd glass only a 1/4 of the way? Very disorganized. The food was average. I would not return.

Service: a little slow, and my boyfriend and I were one of two tables there.
Food: excellent! Great flavor, prepared quickly. The meals came out before the appetizer though.
Price: more expensive than what I would pay back home, but it is NYC after all so what do you expect? I had goat curry for $17
Overall: nice place near the theatres, good food. I'd definitely return!

Stopped in for dinner before seeing a show. Service was quick and attentive. I was concerned due to timing but we had plenty of time to eat, relax and make it to the show on time. Food was excellent. Good menu selections. We had a vegan in the party so no problems with ordering (one of our primary reasons for eating Indian). All in all a great dining experience and would definitely recommend Basera if going to theater.

Awesome service before our show on Broadway. It's a bistro so you have to be aware of the mood before you get any expectation. Not a authentic indian ambiance, but great food, value close to theathers. Great service

A relatively casual and low-key option for a date night before catching a show. The prix fixe menu provided excellent value, though it meant we were shuffling between a few different menus and pieces of paper. Got pretty crowded (and slowed down) on a Saturday night, though.
