A wonderful find, loved the space, location, happy hour prices 5-9!
There were eight of us visiting NYC from out of town. We were having fun and were maybe a bit rowdy but our server got into the spirit of the occasion and took good care of us. We had a number of dishes and enjoyed them all.
The food is delicious and very reasonable
Really quick service from good staff. Starter portions were huge. Lovely food. Got a little noisier when more people came into bar.
Reasonable curry for a reasonable price (for NY). We do like a good curry so tried this one based on Trip Advisor Reviews. Food was hot and ok. Unfortunately we have had better curries but good for a quick bite. The place feels like a converted pub and certainly a good place to socialise.
The food is very flavorful, and we enjoyed it very much. I highly recommend.
Great experience. Service is very attentive. The curry flavors are on point. We even had a surprise belly dancing during dinner!!
Vibe was a bit weird in this restaurant which was part dive bar, part Indian restaurant. Was surprised that a darts competition was taking place right next to our table. I wish the host would have seated us elsewhere if they knew this competition was going to take place. Food was good, but nothing special. I have no reason to recommend this restaurant, given all of the other options in this neighborhood.
This pretheater dining experience was good. The menu is full ansd flexible and was tasty. The staff was attentive. if just a little aggressive. There were lots of interesting vegetarian options. It was good value.
If you want reasonably priced food that is good but not by any means great, this is the place to go. The advantage is that they are relatively close to the theater district - and dinner can be acquired conveniently. Ambiance is ok - not special. I would say the restaurant is utilizarian. One last thing - they do have really reasonable prices on glasses of wine - They have a happy hour from 5pm to around 8pm with glasses of wine at half price.
They forgot to bring a few of the items we ordered so it took a minute to track down the server but they did bring a big pitcher of water as requested and hat was great!
Stopped in for dinner after a show and was pleasantly greeted by bar tender, the place feels spacious, comfortable and clean. We had good food, the waiter was helpful with recommendations , and it was all very reasonably priced.
Drag Queen brunch on Sunday was fun! Food was meh. Only 5 or 6 brunch items to choose from and they were out of 2. Worst bloody mary I've ever had, but you're going there for the entertainment, not the food. Service was slow and not attentive as well (had to ask for water 3x).
Welcomed by name and service and food was great
This is a good pre-theater restaurant. The food is delicious and the value is great.
Good food and prompt service for a pre-show dinner. More casual atmosphere, and they were setting up a “paint night” next to us, so don’t imagine a fancy space. The flashing lights above the bar might give some a migraine. So, low key, good food, reasonably priced. Would consider again.
Great friendly service and excellent tasting food. Look to go up a spice level if you are looking for something with a bit more heat however the standard spice level meal I had was spot on for flavor. The main dish portions are on the big side so watch out with those equally big starters. Bistro is definitely an accurate description with a great casual feel. Great bar eating area at front and great mix of seating options at the back. Good happy hour options if you like a refreshment or two.... We recommended it to friends who are visiting this week.
We were at Basera for a birthday. It also happened to be on a Saturday night near Halloween, so the place was decorated, much of the staff wore costumes and there was a festive atmosphere. The only downside was that the staff was a bit distracted and super-busy, so the service wasn't as quick as it might have been. BUT everyone was very nice, and the food was terrific. (We really loved the food.) The happy hour drinks were a lot of fun too. We have happy memories of a special dinner, and we will definitely go back.
We were disappointed. We went for dinner after a show. Our fault , we didn’t do enough research. This was our last dinner in NYC before heading home. We wanted a top rate restaurant.
It is a local very casual spot. Even has a dart board.
The staff was friendly and did their best.
The best Indian food I have found in Hell’s Kitchen. Unbelievably good food and great service. The owner is very visible checking in on all of his customers.
Good food. Enjoyed it.
Very good service. Two of the three meals came out warm, not hot. Seemed to be a timing issue. Also the tandoori fish was very dry.
VERY disappointing!! Chicken tikka masala was terrible - chicken pieces in nothing more than tomato sauce. No seasoning. I can make better Indian food at home and I'm not Indian. Only redeeming quality was naan bread. There's gotta be better Indian food in NYC. Pass this place up!
The food was delicious and the service was great. The young men were attentive and friendly.
I had saag with chicken. Large portions and very tasty. My friend ordered fried calamari which was also wonderful.
I generally don't leave reviews unless the experience was extremely positive or extremely negative. This experience last night was unfortunately the latter. Service was terrible: We were left unattended for huge chunks of time, even after attempting to flag folks down. Servers appeared disinterested for the most part. No check ins after we placed the order, and we had to wait another 30 minutes for the check after we finished. Food: Decent prefixe dinner price. Mediocre food, not great, not terrible. It did take 3 hours to get an app, main course and dessert because "it takes the grill a while to warm up." We sat 45 minutes before the app arrived, and another hour and change before the entrees arrived. We were there for 3 hours and ending up taking the dessert to go. Overall: Not a great experience for us. We are four 30 somethings. Super loud. This place might be great for maybe younger folks who don't mind extra loud music, basically no service, mediocre food, and who have 3+ hours to have a basic three course meal. (That wasn't sarcasm.)
Music (not Indian) too loud. Shaky tables. Very good goat biryani and good prix fixe menu.
Good food the service was a little lack luster though
Overall, the food was quite good, especially the coconut naan and fish tikka masala (wonderful salmon). Our primary concern was lack of appropriate staff. Staff were quite attentive when we arrived, but as the place filled up, there were not enough people to attend to all the tables. After twenty minutes of waiting for our post dinner tea order, we moved forward with the bill to get to our show on time. Overall though, the Indian food was quite tasty.
Great food. Exceptional service. Adjustable "hot-ness" levels upon request. Crunchy grilled vegetables--not all mush, as is frequent with Indian restaurants, I think. Only try the pickle martini if you can stand strange-ness.
Excelente "spicy" chicken y el mejor fue el "garlic naan".
second time at this wonderful place . love the food and the service
Always a fan of this place, their happy hour drinks are great and a good value. Food is always delish and you never wait long. Manager was fantastic!
A great authentic Indian menu with an extensive and diverse menu. Very good for vegetarians and those who want gluten free options.
The food & service was great. They were having some technical difficulties with the sound system so it was dead silence as we were the only couple in the restaurant. All that we heard was our own conversation and the conversations of the staff and someone trying to fix the sound system.
A good neighborhood Indian restaurant. Don't order the spicy though unless you REALLY want it VERY spicy.
I am not a stranger to Basera. I love the food, the atmosphere, and the people. I love the very kind manager that seems to be there every visit. he takes great care of me and my guests.
Everyone was super nice from beginning to end, food was delicious! Even though we were short on time, staff acknowledged my note of friends birthdays and brought out dessert with candle and even sang happy birthday! Will definitely recommend and continue going!
I order lunch from here often and I always order the same thing (Chicken Vindaloo - spicy) and I love it. I had lunch at the physical location the other day with a friend and it was great. Its a local business lunch spot but it wasn't overly busy. Service was good. We were seated promptly and I was in and out within my hour long lunch time. No complaints.
Great food and good service
High quality Indian food in a vibrant, contemporary setting. The staff is very accommodating.
