Baru Bistro & Tapas
The food was excellent. Our service was quick and friendly- however, our drinks were forgotten more than once.
The food is amazing! I was a little disappointed by the lack of social distancing and my husband felt a little uncomfortable when more and more people were sat less than 4 feet away from each table.
Delicious tapas. Helpful waiters. Will go back often!
This was our first time going there. We were pleasantly surprised at how wonderful the food was. We expected tasty food but everything was even better than expected.
Baru is always fun with great food and atmosphere.
Excellent cocktails as well!
Amazing as usual!!!!! We love this place!!! The jerk chicken entree is so good!
The food was just ok. The drinks were good but not spectacular. There was a piece of old salad on my fork when they brought the utensils. It was loud inside.
Excellent latin tapas! Fresh and innovative. We will go back.
Very hot upstairs so we were sweating the whole time but the food was delicious as always!
Love this place. Nice people and yummy food.
Had a great evening of tapas and drinks on the balcony. GREAT ambiance as the sun was setting.
Great place! Excellent food! Wonderful service! I will definitely be returning.
Great food and seevice
Wow this place was a surprise find. We loved it and will definitely go back. It's 5 star food without any pretension. My only complaint was that the service was slow. But goodness the food more than made up for it.
Birthday not acknowledged even though specified on reservation and I told server when I arrived.
Service was SLOW and HORRIBLE. Asked several times for drinks// brought the salad after the meal. One fish was good one was burned to a crisp. Could not get waiter’s attention to replace-/- $40 for a charred snapper!
Do you think I’ll ever return?
Always great and sitting on the balcony on a nice evening was very enjoyable.
We got several tapas plates & they were all good with great drinks.
Always amazing and delicious. One of my favorites in the city.
Post Covid reopening. Short staffed but with the wait.
Due to the reopening, selection was limited and I was looking for more seafood but I intend to go back as conditions become normal...
Just like any other time, everything was excellent. My fiancé and I love this place to just sit back, have a margarita, and eat some good food. We had ceviche and arepas for a starter and it usually feels like it’s enough for food for the rest of the night but I enjoy reheating the left over arepas for a quick snack the next day. She ordered a strawberry margarita and I had a regular, both perfectly delicious. She always orders the churrasco as an entree but this time I ordered the Jerk chicken, and that chicken was amazing! Won’t go into details but it was juicy and filling. For dessert we had a flan, which was delicious as usual.
Food is delicious!!
We've been to Baru many times when visiting New Orleans. Food is always wonderful, whether one chooses tapas, or a plate to have all to oneself. Service is very good. Try it!
As always our experience was great the food, service, everything our server was so polite and helpful
Food was just ok. Service was terrible. Pictures on line are totally deceiving & the place wasn’t very clean.
The food, drinks, service, and mood were all perfect! Could not more highly recommend for a small friends get together.
Food and service were very good. Unfortunately we were seated upstairs which required navigating very steep dark stairs illuminated only by a few candles. Going up and down was not a pleasant experience. Tables were tiny, no more than 18.5 by 22 inches and not suitable for dining. Two drinks and two tapas dishes more than filled available space, which would have been OK had we not ordered four items. Although you will likely not experience this, the view from our table was into an open supply closet framed by a garbage can, a dirty broom and dustpan. Suggest you ask to be seated downstairs and if at a two top limit your order to one or two items at a time.
On a nice evening, request to sit on the balcony upstairs!
Great food and good service. They were really busy so service was a little bit slow.
Awesome food! Small, simple place, but the food is worth coming back for again and again.
We've been here several times as it's a favorite spot for my sister who lives nearby. They've accomodated us very nicely over the years, from when my kids were in their teens until now in their 20s. Baru makes some delicious and special non-alcoholic drinks, as well as alcoholic ones, which always made my kids feel special. The food is creative and delicious, and the service is fun and warm. For the foodies among us, we really enjoy the many items we've tried. The recommendations from staff have been spot on. We will enjoy returning whenever we visit New Orleans.
We loved the food and selection and our waitress was enthusiastic and knowledgeable. However, when we got there our table was extremely rocky and I was afraid our drinks would spill over if somebody put any weight on the table. They tried fixing the table but obviously it didn’t work when my wine glass spilled all over my friends lap. Please check all your tables for stability. Not fun at all when this happens especially after you asked them to fix the problem
My favorite restaurant in the city.
Lovely atmosphere and excellent food. Our waiter made good recommendations. Get the fried oysters !
Great food. Excellent and friendly service. Perfect atmosphere. We’ll be back!
The food was mostly great, although the octopus and shrimp al ajillo left a little to be desired (still good, not great). The empanadas, arepas, and carimanolas were all fantastic, as was the tres leches dessert. The portions on some of the tapas could be a smidge larger for the price, but I get that people like to feel fancy by paying a lot for a little.
