Celebration of our 43rd wedding anniversary with a delicious brunch! French onion soup, yogurt with house made granola drizzled with local honey, Eggs Benedict, Salmon....sherbet and flourless chocolate cake for dessert. Oh and the croissants!!! Mimosas to add the final touch. Attentive and friendly service; lake view table.
Food & service excellent but extremely noisy.
Good food, very expensive. And ripped sheets of paper as tablecloths? Really? Would expect linens when paying $100 per person!
Lake Parks' food is always tasteful and nicely presented. My escargot and steak tartare were delicious, my wife's gnocchi were light and flavorful. Our server, Brian, was excellent but stretched way to thin, they were severely understaffed the day we were there.
Food was fantastic. Service was phenomenal. Highly recommended.
It was a gathering of three old friends. Our wait staff was delightful and attentive, but not intrusive.
All the specials were explained and sounded wonderful. We were not rushed. It was a Wednesday evening and although not packed, there was a nice vibe! The food was divine.
We had our favorite - Dover sole fileted at the table! Complimentary glass of champagne for our anniversary.
One of my favorite places to take my granddaughter for lunch in Milwaukee Area. On this occasion I also had my grandson along. (My grandchildren are in their 20's so not children I did however start taking my granddaughter in her teens) It is a beautiful place with great views and a staff that is well trained, I think they are half the reason I enjoy going here the other half the food of course. Two of us had the Salade Nicoise and one had the Croque Monsieur. I was especially glad the potatoes on the Salade plate was back to the first time I had this dish. On several occasions they had different variations. Very enjoyable would highly recommend for the food, service and view.
This is our favorite restaurant...always excellent food, great atmosphere and exceptional service. We love that the decor has not changed in all the years we have been dining there. It has a unique, turn off the century feel that fits perfectly with the French cuisine. We highly recommend Lake Park Bistro!
Drove up from Chicago. Loved it!! Perfect on all fronts. Our foodie friends said it was the best soup and potatoes they ever had. The brunch is an amazing value. Oh, the crepes!!
Excellent food as expected with an exceptional wait staff.
Food was spectacular and service superb. Had trout which is always fabulous. Even the steak frites was excellent. Especially impressed with the salads as they made some changes in the menu which was fun and tasty
My favorite restaurant in Milwaukee. Authentic French bistro food made with the best ingredients. Casual elegance, attentive service and a beautiful lake view complete the experience. Perfect in every way.
We celebrated our one year wedding anniversary with Lake Park Bistro and couldn't have been more pleased with our experience. From the personalized card the hostess gave us to the complimentary champagne to close out our meal, everything was just perfect. My only regret is that this was first visit to LPB and I've been in Milwaukee for 18 years. That's a whole lot of great experiences I've been missing out on.
The ambiance and service were what I expected from this restaurant. The food however didn’t quite get to the same level. My quiche was undercooked, and pretty soggy. A few people at the table ordered the Eggs Benedict, and could barely cut the muffin. And they were using the steak knife provided. They did provide a beverage for our special occasion, which was greatly appreciated.
We had a reservation for 7:15 pm. When we showed up at 7:10 pm, we were told that it would be "Just a couple of minutes..." So we did not sit at the bar anticipating being seated quickly. 30 minutes later we still hadn't been seated and the host staff seemed confused and uninformed. Also, no communication to us as we sat there.
Our "Main Waiter" was very nice when he showed up. Otherwise he was fairly non-existent. He definitely seemed more interested in the table of wealthy looking people. I guess it's all in the tips! The "2nd Waiter" a blond woman was very nice and attentive to our needs. If it wasn't for her, we probably would of walked out. It took a very long time to get our food.
Overall, the food was excellent but the service was horrible. They were unprepared, slow, confused and unapologetic. I will not eat there again.
Had to wait over a half hour beyond our reservation time. Didn’t win the waitress lottery, that’s for sure. She was a pretty rude gal, which detracted from the good experience we were looking forward to.
The service really makes the whole experience.
We celebrated our 16th wedding anniversary at the Lake Park Bistro last Friday. Everything was perfect! This is a wonderful restaurant with a very charming vibe!
Chris was our primary waiter. He was amazing!! Very knowledgeable about the menu accommodating with my dietary needs. Personable service. The food was just amazing!!!
This is a restaurant you return to over and over because it so consistently offers outstanding fare and service. On this trip I had the soup of the day, a corn chowder, which was pure nectar: a marriage of freshness and flavor that was so exquisite that I wished I could take the chef home with us for every meal henceforth. This is the kind of experience that brings one back repeatedly.
The Lake Park Bistro is the best restaurant in Wisconsin!
There white truffle salad was amazing and the view of the lake was worth the wait
Lovely fancy meal for my 15 year old daughter’s birthday. She lived her steak and we all loved the ambiance.
The entire night was great. Sarah may be one of the best servers I’ve had. Food was great- really great night
Excellent service and great food, as always. Best coffee and desserts.
Food and drinks were excellent. The only criticism I have is that our dinners arrived before we could enjoy our appetizers and salad.
Excellent food prepared with exceptional culinary skill. It’s worth putting up with the noise and cramped seating just for the excellent food. It would be an ideal date night restaurant if it were more intimate and and didn’t have to raise our voices just to have a conversation.
Last minute dinner with our adult daughter who is engaged and fiancé was out of town for business. Food was excellent as always!
Excellent meal to celebrate our Anniversary!
We came from Chicago on an Open Table recommendation and we were not disappointed. We were seated with a lake view as we requested and they acknowledged our anniversary. Although the goose liver appetizer was smaller than expected, it was delicious. The special of the night was the trout and it was done perfectly. Portion size was good also. My partner's veal chop was very large and he said it was tasty.
We wanted to order dessert, but just couldn't add any more food.
We visited with Family, The food was very disappointing. Very oily and salty. They used to be right on with their dishes but this time, I was very embarrassed to take my out of state family to Lake Park Bistro. The Menu has changed. The portions are bigger now but the taste has definitely changed. The attention to detail has downgraded as well. Wouldn't take anyone there for a while. It used to be my place for romantic dinning and outstanding food. NOT ANY MORE.
We celebrated our last dating anniversary before we get married at Lake Park Bistro and they made it so special! They had a hand-written congratulatory card for us, gave us a nice table by the window looking out over the lake, and their service was impeccable all evening. They even treated us to a delightfully rich, yet light flourless chocolate cake to top off the evening. The bill was close to $150 for two people, but every bit of the food and atmosphere made it worthwhile. While I wouldn't dine there frequently, I would highly recommend LPB for special occasions or a splurge date night. We will certainly be going back!
Excellent food and service, increasingly noisy as the evening went on, making conversation for older ears
difficult (we were seated in the porch area with a Lake view).
Haven't been there in a while since moving out of town. Is it more French than it used to be??? That's fine, but the Croque Monsieur is humongous - would not be that way in France, and my savory crepe was much too oversauced. All wonderful ingredients, but a bit much. The beet salad was the star on our table, altho half would have sufficed as a preface to the main dish. The lake view never disappoints.
The food was delicious and the restaurant had great ambiance. They are relatively pricey, but reasonable for a fancy restaurant. Our server was attentive, but never intrusive.
The Coquilles St. Jacques was the highlight of the meal. The corn purée really brought out the sweetness of the scallops. I had the Filet Mignon au Poivre and while very good, there was nothing particularly inspiring about it. My wife had the entrecôte rib eye and wow was it loaded with flavor. She passed on the Brussels sprout side and went for the sautéed mushrooms instead. That is certainly the way to go. Not sure what type of mushrooms they were, but they just might have been the most flavorful we’ve ever had. Also refreshing that a restaurant with such strong entrées had equally good desserts.
We have been to Lake Park Bistro many times over the years and we are never disappointed. On our most recent visit it was as spectacular as we have come to expect with two efficient and professional servers. The Dover Sole with haricover, seasonal mushrooms, potatoes served in a brown butter sauce and filleted tableside was the perfect dish to share. Our appetizers of Coquilles St. Jacques and Escargot en Croute were perfect as well. We finished with Flourless Chocolate Cake. The Lake Room provides a beautiful view of Lake Michigan above Lincoln Memorial Parkway and ambiance that offers a feeling of being in France in a neighborhood setting. This restaurant is among the best in the US, not just in Milwaukee.
We moved to Scottsdale Arizona and of course nothing like LPB anywhere here. Miss it - it was our go to place when living in WI. Was a joy to go back to experience the ambiance, food and service. Took along a friend who had never been to LPB - she thoroughly enjoyed your jewel on the lake.
