Food and atmosphere wonderful. We will be back. Very classy place. Top notch.
Great food. Horrible service. Arrived at 7 pm on a Thursday. Drinks took 45 minutes - and three inquiries - to arrive. Well done filet served bloody rare. Everything was slow. Dinner lasted almost three hours. Wait staff uninformed and poorly trained. Had a fabulous experience previously, so we may try again.
Everything from the appetizers to the entrees were delicious. Love the atmosphere! Will definitely go back!
Savona has gained a reputation for great food and an impressive wine list. The craft beer selection is skimpy and cocktails are well executed when done by a seasoned bartender. Upstair's dining is bad. Service is substandard. Cocktails were botched and the server was slow in service and missed important details. I will never done upstairs again.
Savona is fantastic. Waitstaff, sommelier, ambience, cuisine - all superb. we have been there many times; it has always been great and now it is better than ever.
Waiting to long to be served
Was busy on a Saturday night, but took us on time. Service was excellent, atmosphere is great for a date, special occasion, or an evening out with a few friends.
The menu offers something for everyone, from and a wide range of prices. However, in my opinion, most dishes, especially the full-size meat and fish entrees, are overpriced. The food is good, but not worth what they're charging. Don't trust the $30 and under rating on Open Table. We had two appetizers, two medium-priced entrees ($25-$30 range), two glasses of wine, and one dessert, and our check, before tip, was about $150.
On the other hand, you could sit at the bar and have a pizza and drinks and probably spend $50-$60.
Overall I'd recommend Savona, especially for a special occasion or romantic evening out. If the prices aren't an issue for you, it's a nice setting with good food. You won't be disappointed.
Food was very good. Service was so-so. Seemed that no one had command of their job (except the chef).
Food was excellent. Appreciated the fact that the wine steward recommended an excellent well priced bottle (there were some expensive/overpriced wines on the list).
Believe the reviews about Savona under new leadership. The service was the WORST. We had to ask to order drinks, which took 25 minutes in a restaurant that wasn't full because it looked like only one bartender was serving the entire restaurant. It was (no exaggeration) 2 hours and 5 minutes from when we ordered our entrees until when they were delivered. They were absolutely delicious and something we would return for if the service wasn't the most unacceptably slow service I've ever experienced. Unless you have infinite patience and hours to spare, this isn't the place to go.
We were there for Easter dinner with family. The food was very good (short ribs, chicken casserole, pasta), however the service was slow and bordering on inattentive. The service was not commensurate with the high prices.
Worst restaurant experience ever.
Clueless maitre di/general manager originally put our table of 4 which drove 40 minutes to get there in the bar facing the kitchen. After saying it was unacceptable he moved us into the dining room. After sitting for 10 minutes he had the audacity to ask us to move because a table of "investors"that had been sitting in the bar WANTED OUR TABLE! We were then moved to a table facing the busing station. Horrible. Been going there for 20 years. Never again.
the service since the change over has been hit or miss, however, the food is fantastic and always has been, but we miss the old Savona
Waited over an hour for our table and had a reservation. Food was fair. Service not on par to turn the tables over...slow!
Noise level was painfully high and service exceptionally poor. We have had many memorable meals at Savona but were greatly disappointed in our recent dining experience.
Savona is a great option for upscale dining in the area. The food is consistently good, portions are good size, and there is enough choices on the menu. The service is always good too. If I want a pleasant dinner without kids it is one of the places I consider.
As always, terrific fare in a great space.
The northern Italian/French menu always has something interesting and satisfying.
Great service as well.
Good Italian in a nice setting. Extensive wine list. Special occasion place.
Service needs improving. Too many servers and they don't work together well
We love this place!!! We have lived in this area for 3 years but only just discovered Savona. I cannot say enough good things about it. The service is top notch; the servers are friendly and professional. The food is creative, tasty, and well presented. The prices are quite reasonable. The desserts are fabulous. This place is a hidden gem. It is quite quaint.
Great experience, great food, great service. Had driven by Sonoma many times over the years with the intention to try it, but never had a chance. So glad we did. Have found a new favorite in an area with lots of options.
Really wonder service. Best Dover sole in the world.
Everything here is fantastic. The only problem is deciding what fabulous meal to order.
Savona is a wonderful restaurant offering a great menu and creative specials as well as a wonderful wine list. We have had many delicious meals there and stop in regularly for an unplanned dinner or we invite friends and make reservations for a group. The pizza Marco Castro is light and delicious, the pastas are wonderful, and the fish and meats are beautifully prepared and presented. The maitre'd, wait staff and sommelier are friendly and knowledgeable. We enjoy dining at Savona and recommend it for a quick night out or for any special and memorable occasion.
This was our first visit after their re-do last August. We have always enjoyed the food and service, but just hadn't gotten around to returning for several months. In any case, the restaurant appears more casual throughout, which is a fine thing. The menu is a combination of the old Bistro menu and the fine dining one. They still have some outstanding entree selections as well as pasta and pizza and small plates. The dover sole and tuna were each outstanding dinner selections. The pasta special appetizer was a bit small for sharing, but was excellent and delicate and tasty. Wine choices are many, and we each had 2 glasses. Service was top flight, but we were there early and on a Monday.
It's still not a cheap date, but a good date.
Service was very slow. Took way too long to get our food. The brick chicken was dry. Couldn't even finish it. Wine I ordered was not available but was very nicely substituted with an equivalent if not better wine by the sommelier. I love this place and despite my issues I'll continue to go there and recommend it.
Horrible experience on the occasion of two birthdays. Noise level was excruciating, blaming other diner's disregard, but also staff loudly socializing and hanging out at two tables nearby. Requested to be moved and were told we could, but then left till half-way through. Savona recently underwent re-vamping. What was a great upscale neighborhood restaurant, has greatly deteriorated. The food itself was disappointingly uninspired.
Visited Savona as a party of four for my husband's birthday on a Sunday night. Of the four of us, only my husband had eaten here previously. The restaurant atmosphere is nice and I love the chairs in the dining room. Food was fantastic. Service, however, was not. Our server didn't smile once, and almost seemed annoyed when she came to take our order. She misheard my husband when ordering his appetizer, so the wrong dish was served. Rather than apologize, she came off as rude and borderline accusatory. My husband and I have both worked in restaurants and are big on customer service. The food was so good that we'll be back. Unfortunately we left feeling like we'd rather sit at the bar next time than have another experience like we had in the dining room.
Looking forward to dining here. We had been to a wonderful party downstairs years ago. The food was good and the presentation wonderful. We had a table away from the noise near the large windows. The room was very drafty and the heat kept going on and off.
The service was really terrible - some French guy who kept disappearing. He was not attentive.
Some of the worst service and unmemorable and overpriced food we've every experienced. First they tried to seat us in the dark upstairs... but we insisted to be in the main floor. Waited for menus, water and food. Not a great experience.
Mandatory valet parking for a spot that is 20 feet away
Seating in Upstairs area feels second rate vs first floor area
Food was good but not great
We've dined here when it was the old "white tablecloth " and white gloves service. There is about the same number of people serving the table but with far less service. This used to be a grand dame of the main line but I can get better service and options for $50-75 less in the area
Excellent food, nicely presented and very good value for the quality and service. The atmosphere is charming while still providing and up to date dining experience that is expected from the current dining trends of today. The staff are well trained, attentive, knowledgeable, and pleasant without being intrusive.
Seated immediately. Drinks were great ! Try the Lemon Basil Martini ! Appetizers and Entrees were all
Delicious ! Thumbs Up !
We rate Savona among our top 3 restaurant in the Delaware Valley. On our recent visit I ordered a casserole and I will not order another one. Other than the red snapper being small in size the dish was fine, it is just that there are other dishes that are far superior. The male wait staff is such an important element - even better when they speak with an accent.
Delicious choice for a business lunch - service was excellent, very attentive, and the food was excellent - salad portions very large, colleagues' pasta dishes looked amazing. Definitely recommend for business and dinner would likely be a treat!
I have been a customer for many many years and lately I feel as though simple requests seem like a burden. Requesting a credit card for a reservation for 8 on Wednesday night? Bringing the wrong meal and then waiting 15 minutes after everyone else was served and not even a sorry. An extremely spicy sauce on a dish that one person could not eat at all and it is just ignored? It is just a bunch of little things that have me looking for other alternatives.
All was excellent except for the extended wait time for our drinks and then again for our entrees following one of their signature pizzas as a shared appetizer. In the end we decided not to take any longer than the two hours we'd already been there for one of their mediocre appearing deserts.
On a high note the ambiance was wonderful as usual and with an early reservation there wasn't any waiting to be seated.
Everything was great. Very easy to hear. Great food and staff was excellent.
