Savona Ratings and Reviews
After reading the recent Inquirer review, I was hesitant to try this place again. It had been a few years since our last visit, but recent positive customer reviews online made me give it another try. All in our group of three enjoyed our meals. The food was fresh, and we loved our selections. Appetizers of Scottish Salmon tartare, accompanied by wafer-thin sweet potato chips was a delicious start to the meal, as was the Five Second Tuna with crispy leeks. The American Red Snapper entree was excellently prepared and served with knee-high farm wilted greens, olive tapenade, peperonata, tomato compostas. It was delicious, excellently prepared, and one of the best pieces of fish I've had in recent memory. Our server was polite, efficient and knowledgeable about the menu. The only complaint of the evening was our table location. We weren't thrilled with our upstairs table as we were located near a doorway used by staff. The flow of staff traffic, as well as the occasional bump into our chair, was annoying. The room was dreary and very grey, but the meal was outstanding.
Submitted a reservation thru open table to sit in the bar @ 615... walked in and 2 high tops were empty. Preferred a high top, but was told;
“No reservation for high tops”
Upon arrival I requested to sit at one of them and informed, “the investors are coming in and we are reserve them for investors only”......
Both high tops were empty until 15 min before I left... when a couple came in and took a high top.... middle one was empty the whole time I was there.
They seem to be raising the bar. Service and food were so much better than anything we have found locally. Very high end food (who still offers beautifully prepared complementary Amuse Bouche courses?) with extremely friendly and attentive service. It's not the cheapest, but in line with other restaurants. Will definitely return.
Never disappoints. We usually eat at the bar, which we love, but were celebrating a birthday with a larger group so ate in the main dining room -- love the new, updated decor. The only problem is having to select what to order as everything is wonderful!
Food was wonderful as it has always been in the past. Service was decent as well. My biggest complaint is that it was our anniversary (which I had told them). The hostess told us she accidentally gave away our table because she got us confused with another party and then we ended up in a corner table surround by three large very loud parties which really took away from the evening
The food was out of this world. The servers were very attentive & very professional- they could not of been any nicer. Two minor complaints: 1) The waiters kept giving the wrong food to the wrong people all evening 2) In the main dining room, they should've put tablecloth's over the butcher block tables. It felt like we were eating at a diner. We really missed the elegance of the old Savona.
Savona was recommended to me by a friend as a good spot for my wife and I to celebrate our anniversary. We will be back for sure and I won’t be waiting a year. The food was fantastic. The ambience is great, very unique. It felt like we were at a party at someone’s house rather than a restaurant. The staff was very attentive and knowledgeable as well as super friendly. I highly recommend trying Savona if you’ve never been.
We went with friends and all of our entrees were fantastic...delicious and imaginatively prepared. I had the venison special and it was one of the best things I’ve eaten in a long time. My husband’s red snapper was also expertly prepared. The grilled octopus appetizer, however, was terrible and I’m not sure if it was real octopus. My husband ordered the same app with grilled shrimp, which was very good. The service was good, but the restaurant was noisy. I would like to see the noise level reduced.
went to Savona for the first time on a friday night. It was so noisy that I could barely enjoy the meal. Food was very good. service was not up to par. Waitstaff not professional or efficient, but they were friendly. This falls back on management. Short ribs pizza had 1 tablespoon of short ribs. Not cool, All other food was very good.
I have never walked out of a restaurant before, but there is a first time for everything. Our reservation was for 8pm. Come 9pm we still didn't even have our appetizers. Our waiter never once checked on our table or asked if we wanted another drink. I had to ask him where our food was, and he treated me like I was bothering him. At that point, we just left. Aside from the above, I will say that the hostess was lovely.
Overall a great experience. The only thing that was lousy was the dessert: a pumpkin pie tart. A tastykake pumpkin pie is 1000x better than this tart. I should have gone with the tried and true flourless chocolate brownie!!!
Food was great, service was terrible. Seated 30 minutes after our reservation then sat at our table for 20 minutes without so much as a glance from a single staff member. We had to go up and ask them to bring us bread and water. When we finally did find someone to take our order, only two of the three meals came out, no one bothered to check and notice one of us had no food. Will not be returning.
Unfortunately our experience was not a good one. I have been planning to go to this restaurant for over six months and I was really looking forward to this dining experience. We had reservations at 8 PM and they seated us one time. The problem was the table was not set up and it was in the corner. They apologize for the unprepared table and we were still excited about this restaurant. Unfortunately the evening got worse as the service was slow which I think was a result of us being in the corner and the waiter forgot about it. The food was good but the dining experience was diminished because of the service and the location of our table. I am not sure I will be going back.
Waiter was awkward, like ill-at-ease. Table for two we got was odd - unusually long between us both (HELLO! - How are you over there?), designer didn't think too hard about comfort as much as cool design (tabletop was also an inch or two too high for average folks like us). Food was very, very good, but the interior needs re-thinking.
I have always held Savona in high regard. We have been there a few times over the years as the prices are high it isn't a regular. So I don't have any idea what happened last night. We took clients there and the service was really slow, the place was all but empty. The food was adequate at best, my $50 steak was worth about $10, not good at all. It was cooked to temperature though. The first couple there waiting 20 mins to get their drinks (place was almost empty), our server really struggled with routine stuff, this typically doesn't bother me but the price tag last night was in the stratosphere. I won't be going back for awhile, if at all. There are so many great restaurants around here that are far more consistent.
even though I had made my rez weeks before my party was seated next to the waiters station - very noisy and stressful area, very disappointing. We ordered the spiedini and the chix was raw, very disappointing (still had to pay for it). I firmly suggest moving that table back 3 feet, there was plenty of room to do so and perhaps built a partition between the table and the waiters station. Our main meals were excellent, especially the red snapper. We had 3 servers, 2 were very professional. I will go back, but will not sit at that table again
Had the most wonderful dinner tonight with friends and loved the warm ambience of being able to share our conversation without the noise you usually find in most Main Line Restaurants today!
The food was Outstanding and the service was so attentive during the entire meal. I was pleasantly surprised to see how busy they were for a holiday weekend.
Looking forward to a return visit!
