Barrio Ratings and Reviews
Had to ask for pop and water refills several times. Waitress staggered our food order so my friend had one taco, I had nothing. Then they brought out my dish and nothing for her when I was done they then brought her last dish.
The waitress also forgot to give us silverware . Will not be back.
My rating on the food does not reflect on the quality of the food as it was excellent, the rating reflects the serving sizes. Most Taco's were one per plate so we had to place multiple orders for food, kind of reminded me of take out orders.
They only offered a few items the=at were full size meals, it was still fun and we had a great time.
First time to visit this with my team and we all love it. Food tastes great and service is excellent. Ambiance is cool and cozy. I would definitely be back again.
I value food taste and service than the price . It’s little more expensive but it’s worth it so I am willing to pay this much when food taste great and service is up to the mark! You got it right :)
Food was good and the service was generally very attentive. My wife an I ordered 4 small plates to share and my only criticism was that they literally all came at the same time. It ended up being a very short dinner and would have been more relaxing to have the food come out in more of a staged basis.
Our table was ready at our reservation time, however we were early so proceeded to the bar. The bartender was less than friendly. When we were seated it took some time to get rolling. Our server was kind and friendly, it just seemed she may have had too many tables to take care of. It was strange the order the food came out. We knew it would be tapas style, but the timing was strange. One taco came out 20-30 minutes after the first ones. Overall, we had a good time. Oh, and every review is correct in saying the serving of the guacamole is small. We were with friends from Florida who didn’t realize how spendy avocados are in MN.
We love Barrio but this experience was a little unusual. The food was great, as always, but the service was really slow. There was a large group upstairs who were really loud- lots of yelling up and down the stairs and two rounds of off-key happy birthday. We usually would have ordered another round of drinks but weren’t sure we’d make it to our show if we did.
Was so excited to take 3 out-of-town friends here for dinner and drinks. The margs were fabulous! The guacamole and chips were good but nothing special. And our dinners, well they never came. Server seemed distracted though restaurant not overly busy on a Tuesday eve. Big fail in service. Left feeling embarrassed that this was their first MN dining experience...
Food was great as usual, although we felt like we were being rushed...clearing our tables the second we finished. Our food was coming out at random times. We each ordered 2 tacos, a margarita, and shared an app and we received one taco, then our drinks, then the appetizer, and then another taco, and so on. I wanted to make sure they didn't forget so I just reminded her I ordered 2 tacos and she said in a rude/condescending way that the food will come out when it's ready.....
Disappointing experience, but hoping it was just a one time thing because I love the food!
The price was high for the amount of food received. The waitress recommend a dish for my husband that had 3 small pieces of beef on it and one piece was chewy. Very small amount of lettuce was considered a salad. She never told him that this $14 item would never fill up a grown man. Waitress was also not friendly. I would never recommend this place to anyone.
I was pretty disappointed. Food was the main problem here. We started with the guac appetizer @ $10.50 which was a relatively mundane guacamole served with cold, greasy, and unseasoned chips. For the entrees we ordered fish and shrimp tacos @ $5.00 each with the mushroom empanadas @ $10.50. The tacos are minuscule and lack any flair and again the empanadas were overly greasy and lacked seasoning. With drinks and tip the bill came to $100.00. For this price there are much better places to dine. This place might work best for after work drinks with co-workers and skip the food.
Food was the best thing about the experience- even though it didn't come out together. Not sure if we ate inside if we would have had better service, however we were left to our devices for awhile in the outdoor seating area. Might consider giving it another chance if I lived in the area as it is a good value.
So much of Barrio is about the fresh and eclectic small plates and amazingly seductive guacamole. The crafted cocktails are creative and the tequila is, of course, a wide variety of interesting as well as standard options.
Whether we are at Barrio's in Minneapolis or St Paul, we are assured a wonderful time!
