Service was slow. The food was great, but the portions are small. Incredible margaritas.
Good food reasonably priced. Friendly and attentive staff
Excellent place to relax and enjoy some cocktails and a bite to eat. Great happy hour. Their Paloma is excellent. As well as their tequila flights. Cozy atmosphere. Will be back.
Based solely on my experience I have to say no. There were issues with our drink order which took an unreasonable amount of time to arrive and was also incorrect and our food order, which was lost in the kitchen and then never completely delivered to us. We had to remind the staff repeatedly of what we were missing. Everyone in our party was disappointed by the whole experience.
The food was great, but I’m pretty sure our server forgot about us. We only saw her when we placed our drink order, food order, and when we asked for our check. We had to ask the food runners for things that she should have been available for. The chair that I was given was not very sturdy, it seemed like one of the legs was loose or shorter than the rest.
There for happy hour. The margaritas were tasty but small. Food was good.
Service was good at first, then seemed to be spotty for the rest of the evening. The food was brought out at various times, with some members of our party finishing their tacos before others had any food delivered. Our second drink order took so long we thought the server/bartender had forgotten us.
We love the food and Nelson our server always is fantastic.
Hanger steak with yucca fries was amazing and perfectly cooked. Pork Belly and Ahi tacos were also delicious bit the carnitas taco was dry and unappetizing. Salsas and chips were worth the price as was the guacamole. It is not a kid friendly place but we were on vacation with kids and decided to try it anyway. They did a great job of trying to accommodate kids that are adventurous eaters but still don't handle super spicy well.
Server Bailey was wonderful.👍
Great selection of tequila good margaritas. Shrimp tacos were good and the guac. Service was a bit slow.
Nice atmosphere, excellent happy hour before going to the excel for a concert. Loved the assortment of appetizers on the menu, much preferred from some of the other places we checked out in downtown St. Paul
Using Open Table was seamless! Barrio is a pub that I keep going back to...it’s consistently excellent! I recommend it to everyone who wants good ambiance, terrific service, and delicious food.
The food was good. Service was excellent. We went there for a birthday. This place doesn’t offer anything for spending your birthday with them, which is fine but I would have chosen somewhere else if I’d have known that. We told the waiter that there was a birthday and he said “ great - happy birthday. Let me get you a dessert menu.” Which usually means they offer a free dessert. He charged us for it. No big deal, but misleading. It’s a good way to raise the tab so he could get a bigger tip, I guess.
There was an issue with the food not tasting good and missing chicken but the waitress handled it very professionally and she exceeded our expectations!!
Fabulous trinity margarita
We just went for a happy hour after work, and loved it! Food was awesome, server had a great personality & was fast, drinks were great and never empty. Definitely going back.
Food was subpar
The staff continued to tell us how busy it was. The tables were full, but nobody seemed to be waiting. By the time we left after the slow service, the restaurant was half empty. I agree that it was busy, but don’t complain to the customer and learn how to handle it.
Nice tapas selection. Good wine. Great servers. Parking is a little funky. They have a nice patio across from Mears park.
I prefer the Edina location's set up and atmosphere but I am thrilled to now know that St. Paul is an option. The service was actually perfect for our needs (party of 3) and our waiter, Cardell, was attentive without being overbearing. Good drinks, great food...the only downside was the restaurant seemed so narrow and cramped that it was difficult to move around without brushing into others. Overall, Barrio in Lowertown will be my local go-to for this Latin influenced cuisine!
Our waitress was very nice and I believe she was trying to be as attentive as she could. I think that there was just not enough help!! The people that brought the food to the table were clueless. They jsut put the food down without any thought as to where or what was on the table. We asked three separate times for extra plates before we finally received them b/c our waitress was on top of it!!
It was a really loud atmosphere and seemed almost chaotic-Maybe it's for the younger crowd but I do like to party and have fun but it wasn't a great experience except the food was very good. Unfortunately I won't be back and I won't be recommending this place to friends.
The food was amazing as always. The service was unbelievably good! We were walked through the tequila menu in great detail and given direction on our tasting experience. Wonderful time! Will definitely be going back again and again.
It was a busy day as our reservation was after the St. Patrick's Day parade but they accommodated us and gave us a booth far from the noise. Our server was very nice and attentive and provided suggestions when we asked.
The food was great except for one - the yuca is very oily and the dip taste just like olive oil mayo. On the other hand, the guacamole, tacos, shrimp are perfect.
Drinks were great as well. I love the margarita and hubby liked the flights. :)
Thank you so much.
Great service and food. The taco buffet is great and we ordered several small plates. The guacamole was great and the cheese dip was good.
Service was great. Engaging server and great balance between checking on us and letting us enjoying the great food!
We had an incredible experience because of our excellent wait staff and delicious tapas choices. We enjoyed a continual feast, all timed perfectly. And the ambiance was superb.
By far the worst service I’ve experienced in St. Paul. For 5pm and a less than half full restaurant, one would expect someone to stop by at least once every 30 mins. Our server simply didn’t care and her colleagues knew it so they jumped in to help. Won’t be back regardless.
I love introducing people to great places and Barrio did not disappoint, as usual!!
My husband and I chose Barrio for a late Valentine's Day celebration. The food was fresh and delicious. And because of the small tapas sized portions you get to try a lot! The server was very knowledgable and made some great recommendations. Fun night out!
After a keenly anticipated evening, we should have listened to the Open Table reviewers who referenced poor service. We arrived for our 5:45 reservation and, twenty minutes later, we had not been greeted, served chips, inquired about drinks or told about dinner. It was a steady level of busy and the tables around us were getting sequential parts (drinks, salads, soups, tacos) of their meals while we looked on. We were invisible to a wait staff that passed our table no less than 30 times (yes; I started counting). We had theatre tickets and there was no way, with that lack of service, that we were going to make our show. It was such a frustrating experience that we left, we will not return, and we will not recommend Barrio to anyone we know. Really, super frustrating.
The food was outstanding. Service was poor. 3 of the 4 in the party ordered the taco buffet and it took 20 minutes and taking to the manger to get our soft drinks. Server never checked on us.
Buffet was very good but had to be restocked. The problem was we had to inform the team that things were out
Expected a Spanish-named restaurant might have authentic entrees. It seems Mexican restaurants, except the wonderful small cafes, are trying to outdo each other with the most inventive meals that resemble very little of the original food I look for.
The food was overall delicious. My only complaint is the cilantro rice. It just tasted like butter rice.
Everything else was terrific. Especially the steak.
Barrio is one of our favorite restaraunts in St. Paul, although the food wasn’t as great as it usually is. Hopefully it was just an off night for them.
We love this place! Great food and drinks with a trendy atmosphere. If you have a party of 4, we recommend making a reservation in The Vault. It is a cool private room to enjoy.
Went to Barrio for happy hour food before a Wild hockey game. Our server was phenomenal, incredibly nice, and very attentive. The food came out as it was ready, and everything we tried (Grilled Chicken Tacos, Battered Fish Tacos, Fried Yuca and Pozole) was great! Overall a phenomenal dining experience
Personally for me my dining experience was exceptional because of our waiter! He was very personable and knowledgeable of the food and the tequila. Will definitely go back!
Went here with a group of 6 after completed an Escape Room. The food came quickly even though the place was packed, the drinks were good, and the service was awesome.
Awesome, as usual.
I went there with a few friends for my birthday. We got to sit in the vault, it was awesome, it was like our own private room. I think they sit you in there if you a celebrating a special occasion. Our waitress was fun, the bartenders brought our drinks, they were fun. It was a great time. They had a dj starting and we should've stayed for dancing but we didn't :)
