Great seasonal dishes in an intimate setting. Very romantic! Definitely worth checking out!
Everything was great! Only small compliant was the number of times I was bugged to make sure we were really going to show up. Sheesh.
I have been coming to Baringtons for years mainly for special occasions because the food is so good and the atmosphere is intimate. This pass week was my wife's birthday and thought this would be the perfect place to celebrate. We had a fairly late reservation of 8:30 which meant it was a busy Thursday night for the restaurant. We were seated promptly but without a greeting of any type- a basic here's your table and menus. Our server came by after a solid 10-12 minute wait and again, no introduction. She told us what was sold out and then disappeared. Came back 5 minutes later and took our drink order one by one ie. I ordered wine, she went and got the wine; my husband order a cocktail and then she went and got the cocktail, etc. silly right? So by the time we got our drinks collectively it was 9:00. The server asked for our order but then disappeared again only to come back and asked abruptly, delivered our food without coming back to see how things were. Mind you the price point of Baringtons is on the higher side but our service was equivalent of an IHOP. It was so disappointing for all of us. The hostess and the server had no professional skill set to be at a restaurant of that caliber. Sorry to say that I will probably will not be coming back after years of coming here.
Anniversary dinner, excellent service, great food.
Repeat visit. Just a fine place with a charming ambiance. Every dish was excellent and fine service from Michael
Two words; Almost perfect. The only thing that wasn't perfect was how loud it was. A group of young business types started at the bar, drinking and then sat near us, drinking. They were so loud my husband and I couldn't have a conversation without talking above this group. What a shame!
Good ingredients prepared well. Excellent service; not hurried or rushed. Really enjoyed the mussels appetizer and scallops entree.
The food is always spectacular along with service and ambiance.
Had a birthday celebration and saw and old friend. We had a delicious meal and the service was superb. The drinks are always delicious and they have some nice wines. This staff makes you feel at home as soon as you enter. They are happy to tell about the items on the menu for the night and to make recommendations. It is always a special event.
Every meal is a celebration at Barringtons. Best restaurant in Charlotte. There is lots of good food in this town but Barringtons is at the top of the " food chain"
Thank God it's hidden, because it's to good to be hidden in a strip center!
Always consistent and beautifully prepared. Wait staff on point. We always feel welcome.
First rate across the board. Superb take on fresh, local ingredients in a small, intimate atmosphere. I have been coming here for many years and have never been disappointed. I travel for business and eat out at great places often. I would place Barrington's in the top 1% of restaurants in the country.
Service outstanding. Amazing menu. The very best in Charlotte!
The menu selections were well done and were well presented. The entrees were perfectly cooked and the sides were well done and augmented the entrée. The desserts were more than an afterthought. Overall, A very good dining experience, one of the best in Charlotte..
Alway a great meal. The main dishes vary enough to make each visit differnt!
I have heard nothing but great things about Barringtons from friends. And it did not disappoint. Excellent meal at a fair price in a quiet and elegant environment.
My favorite restaurant in Charlotte.
Food and service are always outstanding.
So we struggled to find the entrance which was like going thru the back door of a night club. I was disappointed with the menu which stated that it was American cuisine. Any menu that does no offer a steak but offers pasta cannot be considered American imo. The shrimp and grits lacked flavor..The salad was pretty good the bread was horrible the pasta was under cooked and again no steak on the menu. The wine had a 40% mark up. For a fine dining restaurant the hostess and the owner were dressed for a Sunday football game. These dinners are special for us because we save our money for these days such as anniversary and birthdays..New year's and such. We generally go to Ruth Chris for our anniversary because of the special treatment and the food is always spectacular. Barringtons is not a place that I would tell someone "you gave to go and try the...." Our meal including wine and tip was just over 300.00 and in the end very over priced.
Did I mention the coffee? They could at least serve a decent coffee with the prepackaged dessert.
Anyway..I made a reservation for Ruth Chris for next weekend to make it up to my wife..So much for trying something new
After hearing about this restaurant for yeasts, my wife and I celebrated our anniversary dinner. The food was very mediocre, an the fresh made gingerbread dessert was burnt. Apparently this place is going downhill and we didn't know any better. Quality of food for price value is poor.
The chef is amazing and the menu this week was a combo of winter going out and spring coming in -- the flavors were marvelous. The local mixed greens with avocado and goat cheese croquettes was superb! Also, love the new décor -- still cozy and quaint but has a more openness and modern flair with the lighter colors of wood/paint. We plan to be back soon! Great Birthday!
This restaurant came in SIGNIFICANTLY below expectations. Although the wine list was reasonable and the setting was so-so, the food and service were extremely poor. I ordered the braised short-rib by recommendation of the server, which came out exscrutiatingly dry. I mean desert dry. As I finished enjoying my $34 Sahara desert experience, I came to realize my side order of truffle mashed potatoes had not been brought out yet. Upon following up, the server was very apologetic and went to get me a "half order since [I was] almost finished with my main course". Five minutes later the server strolled over to deliver the incredible news, after raising my hopes, that they are out of truffle mashed potatoes. To make up for such a poor performance, our server did bring over two "free" glasses of wine - I put free in quotations because of the brutal experience I went through already seemed like a payment of sort. Needless to say, we will not be dining at Barringtons again.
Wonderful dinner. The mushroom soup was delicious. The flounder was amazing. The lamb special was unbelievable. Lattes and chocolate cake finished it off. It was a lovely night. Thanks.
excellent food, and good atmosphere - very small restaurant, though, so depending on where you are seated it's possible to have someone sit very close which would potentially ruin a romantic evening. i was disappointed with our waitress. she made what i thought was an inappropriate comment when we initially sat because i changed seats and said, are we done moving around now? not sure if she was trying to be funny, but did not take it that way and then she served bread by reaching across in front of me to place it on my right side instead of walking to my right and placing it next to me. unprofessional and not acceptable for the quality of restaurant this was/is trying to be. I honestly would not return based on the service alone despite the food being excellent.
The menu is quite limited however the quality of the food is excellent
Really good food in a cozy atmosphere. I hosted a business meeting for seven. The Arugula salad with truffle fries was a terrific start. Everyone was satisfied with their entree. I had the Short ribs which I could cut with a fork.
Barrington's has become our "go-to" restaurant for Special Occasions. This year I dined with my Mom for her birthday, per her request since she enjoyed her birthday dinner the year prior so much.
Our experience was, yet again, amazing. We enjoyed two appetizers, the Mussels and Mushroom Soup. Both were amazing, but I preferred the Soup. The mushroom flavor was so rich, well worth a try.
As for entrees, we had the Scallops with Bacon Risotto, OMG. Another flavorful, rich dish, and the Chicken. I learned the Chicken is one dish that has been on their menu since they opened. My waiter said it was "a must try". The Chicken has as cooked perfectly and paired with mashed potatoes and spinach.
As for dessert, we shared the Banana Cheesecake, another OMG!
Overall, Barrington's is definitely a must try Restaurant in Charlotte. Keep it in kind for a special occasion, and be sure to make reservations early.
Great food great service. I Would recommend them.
Thoughtful and beautiful food. Wonderful flavors and perfect cooking on all meats. We are planning to become regulars at this great dinner spot!!
We had a lovely evening with old friends visiting from Maine. The drinks, wind, food and service were wonderful!
Meal was great. We enjoy eating out mid-week and Barrington's was easy to make a reservation the same day. The menu offers a variety and every entree was appealing. I chose the pork chop and it was excellent. The food and service were a value, so add to your preferred list of white-linen dining.
This has always been one of our favorite restaurants. This was also the third year in a row we have come for our anniversary. I am so glad the are now on Open Table.
Excellent food, better service, could not ask for a more enjoyable night out, thanks!
This place has been around a long time and is always booked. Because the food is that good. Tables are close together and not a ton of ambiance but service is capable and unobtrusive and did I mention the food is really really good. Reasonable prices for what you are getting and a decent mid-price wine list.
Not a trendy place but definitely a good place to go to get a great meal.
Food was fantastic and the service was outstanding. Extremely helpful with food and wine pairings. Server brought a very nice tasting of the wine to make sure it was what we wanted with the entree we ordered. Would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a true culinary experience.
Barrington's is my favorite restaurant in Charlotte and has been for 15-20 years(?). So long I can't remember! Favorite place for special occasions! Service was and always is outstanding .... two of the best, friendliest, helpful and classiest waitresses anywhere. My food was however not good for the first time ever. Overcooked blackened mahi mahi, actually charred half way through. Portions have never been large, not unexpected for the style there, but now at a new level....hardly any ?grits underneath the sliver of burned fish. Calamari were excellent! Will certainly go back again because of so many delicious meals and memories.
Great wine list, delicious food...will definitely be back!
My meal was good, but very over priced at $36 for 3 scallops. My husband's salmon was expensive and bland. We had looked forward to the evening as we were celebrating a special event (35 year anniversary). I called in advance to let them know, and found out the next day that a family member called earlier and gave credit card information for a special bottle of wine to be sent to the table. They did not serve the wine or acknowledge the event. When I called to make them aware of the oversight, the manager was hardly apologetic and acted like the family member had never called. She also showed no concern about the poor quality of the meal. We will not be back.
Excellent food and service! The food definitely exceeded my expectations.
