Marcus is great
Barrett's Grill always has good food and good service. One of our favorites in the Hunt Valley area.
A favorite place for lunch or dinner. I always order their delicious cream of crab soup.
Always a pleasure to dine here. Especially on jazz nights!!!!
We go often and enjoy the place and the food. This time it was Mothers day and it was terrible.
We have dined at Barrett’s several times and have always enjoyed our experience. Love the strawberry salad and the salmon !
One suggestion would be to offer dessert for a lower price. The seasonal cobbler was delicious and ample to share but almost $9 I feel is a bit excessive.
Terrible food, I would not waste your time or money
We arrived five minutes early for our reservation; and were told that it would be 10-15 minutes for our table. WE said that we would wait in the bar and have a drink. The bar took 10-15 minutes to get a drink; at which point I inquired about our table. I was told that they called us and we were not around so they gave our table to someone else; but we would be seated shortly; and we were.
The service was generally very slow but our waiter was attentive and very personable....We had a salad that was outstanding; but when the main courses came, which took forever, both were cold; and my prime rib was medium well done rather than medium rare. We complained and our waiter shortly returned with two new dishes and apologiged saying that he had originally served us the wrong dishes. At any rate, neither my wife's egg plant parimigna or my prime rib were very good; and both baked potatoes were well under-cooked.
Generally, Barett's Grill was very, very noisy; drinks were bad; as was the dinner...Not a lot to recommend this place.
My wife and I enjoyed ourselves. However, I was really looking for a more quiet seating so we can focus on us and not everyone else’s conversation. They need seating that allows a more intimate, private and romantic setting versus an extremely collective concept. The tables are way too close to each other and I felt like I was apart of everyone’s event which is the only reason I have them a 4. Sorry guys I can’t have a romantic dinner sitting that close to people. All in all my wife really enjoyed the food very much and had a great time so I picked the right restaurant. 👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾
Took the Wife here for Mother's Day. I believe Barrett's may have over booked. The restaurant was packed. I noticed several "new" looking employees that appeared to be clueless about working in a busy restaurant situation.
Don't get me wrong the food was good. The drinks were even better.
We will go back again just not on a holiday type occasion.
Very noisy environment- never quite understood why so loud even if only half full. The Blackened chicken pasta had way too much black pepper on it to be enjoyable. I have had this numerous times (most recently a month or so ago), and never had it taste like this before. Trust me, I love heat in my food, but this was not at all enjoyable. The braised short ribs were very under cooked compared to normal. We have had that at least a dozen times over the last few years, and this is the first time we have actually seen them bloody rare. Once they were taken home and allowed to finish cooking, they were pretty good. The house salads are always amazing, as are some of the appetizers. Our waiter was very attentive, so no complaints there.
The food was really a 3 1/2 stars - the fish tacos could have used more salt, cilantro and a squeeze of lemon or lime. Shrimp & grits tasty. Skip the carrot cake, served warm with melted icing, too gummy, but Creme Brûlée good. Our table looked in the door to part of the kitchen , not a great view. All the staff were very nice. So good place overall.
Food and service excellent. Great place for a lunch gathering for old friends. Would definitely recommend.
Enjoy eating here regularly. Especially like the salads.
The food and service were excellent. I am sorry, but with a band playing, the acoustics were terrible and that ruins a meal when you can't hear people at your table. We saw friends outside who said the same thing.
Food was delicious! I had the Mahi Mahi special. Service was excellent!
All twelve diners arrived on time to find there was a delay in setting our table. The manager was very courteous and offered all of us a glass of wine while we were waiting. When we were seated the wait staff was attentive and prompt with our requests. The food was good quality. It was noisy as there was another large party right next to us. We had a pleasant dining experience.
As Always from beginning to end a delightful meal. We enjoy running into friends as we did that evening.
Excellent food and a wonderful experience! We will be back again!
Our food was delicious and came out quickly. Service was excellent. We were only disappointed that our 40th anniversary was not acknowledged since it was put in the notes when the reservation was made. It was obvious that we were celebrating a special occasion with the gifts on the table. A birthday behind us was acknowledged. Still would recommend this restaurant and would visit again.
This is our 3rd visit to Barrett’s and once again we thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience! Marcus was simply AWESOME!! He was on point , he was friendly genuine and made recommendations were spot on!
The experience could not be better! The food was great and the wine, once again was so delicious. The Tenderloin Medallions with Mushroom Risotto was amazing. We will be back and definitely will look forward award to Marcus again!! You guys rock !!
Very nice service. The core lunch was very good except the black bean soup was uninspired. The bread pudding for dessert sounded wonderful, but was too dense and lacked taste. Ambience, drinks and prices all very good.
Business meal with 5 colleagues. Food was great and very authentic. Services was excellent without doting on us. Try the crab cakes!
The music was surprisingly loud this visit. We had to yell to talk over the music, which was not the vibe we were looking for. We eat there relatively regularly, and I don’t remember the music being an issue in the past but it really was this time.
Food was delicious and our server El was great.
We had a reasonable dinner at Barrett’s, but it was not exceptional. We would have expected it to be a bit better given the price. Surprised it had the #1 ranking for the Hunt Valley area.
Food was great as usual. Our Server Marcus was awesome!!
My wife and I started with drinks and the calamari appetizer the bar. The calamari is fantastic and the draft beer is ice cold. After being seated we both had the prime rib. It was cooked perfectly and the meal was fantastic. We highly recommend Barrett's.
Better than the typical higher-end restaurant at a shopping mall - they stand out for better choices prepared well, and with very good and proper service.
I am a regular at Barrett’s. It is my favorite place to go for lunch!!
Service was excellent, we weren't rushed, food was outstanding, seating was comfortable. Will definitely return.
Nice to go to a restaurant we could hear at and enjoy the food
We’ve been regular customers for many years but not sure we will be back. For starters, the servers were very nice and friendly; however never brought table water when we asked and never brought bread (other tables around us had it.) The “fresh” ahi tuna has always been hands down the best in town, but tonight it was obviously frozen and not fully thawed. It visibly didn’t look fresh. The short ribs were delicious but the roasted vegetables served on the side were frigid cold. It’s these little things that were so disappointing and made it not a great dining experience for our family. I hope by writing this that Barrett’s will get the food quality back to what it was.
I saw the picture on Open Table, said to myself, I like scallops, I like risotto...
Imagine my surprise when I was expecting a noisy mall joint. Except
I walked into a quiet cozy beautiful restaurant, with live jazz playing for the joy of music.
A very friendly waitress, welcomed me to a nice comfy seat, gave me some background on the ownership and their mission, and told me about 50% off wine bottle night.
I instead ordered a nice well poured Guinness stout, in the right glass.
I told her about my seeing the picture, see noted "a great choice".
The meal was perfect seared scallops, a few spinach leaves, over a creamy mushroom risotto, with a touch of finishing salt.
I had to put the fork down and listen to some music, the food was disappearing too quickly.
I also had the carrot cake, which was served warm with icing, YUM!
I will be back in Baltimore at the end of May, it is a definite return trip to Barrett's Grill,
going to save my appetite and add the Buffalo Calamari to my dinner
Very consistent meals every time we dine here, probably 3-4 times a year. Crab cakes are full of lump crab, steaks were flavorful and done exactly as ordered. My scallops risotto was beautifully seared, but a little too salty. The Barrett's house salad is lightly dressed with a slightly sweet taste, cashews and blue cheese make a great combination. My husband likes the Caesar salad. We enjoyed the 1/2 price wine and jazz on Thursday and had an attentive, welcoming waiter. We'll be back again soon!
Warm, friendly, knowledgeable staff who were attentive without "hovering".
We had a great lunch. It was my first trip there and I drove an hour from Lancaster, PA to reconnect with a friend and former business colleague I had not seen in a few years.
The only difficult thing was finding you in the back of the complex. One of the security guards in the "front section" sympathized with the dilemma and gave me great directions.
Fantastic food and service. Prices were great for the value of the food.
I thought that the price was a bit expensive for what I got, although the salmon was delicious and the asparagus was tender and flavorful. I thought the Crème Brule was a bit thick and I have had better at other places, but it was large enough for two and we did share. The service was excellent as we did not want for anything. So, I liked it a lot but again, I am not convinced that there was enough food to warrant the price that I paid. I did not walk away hungry but I also felt a bit unfulfilled.
My only complaint on this visit was the restaurant was virtually empty and they put all the guests close to one another instead of being spread out.
The food is great, but not for the price point. The menu lacked variety (especially for Easter) and our party found it to be overall bizarre.
The service was horrendous. While there were a few decent, accommodating and hospitable employees who were willing to intervene, our waitress was quite rude & unskilled for this industry. The management was agreeable, but not accommodating in any tangible sense. The staff at this location perform in a polarized manner, which is unfortunate. This is a shame, because Barrett’s has the potential to be a great restaurant destination!
Very disappointing experience overall and we would not return to this restaurant.
