As per usual hit all the marks, started with pear salad and fried green tomatoes, both excellent, three of us had the shrimp with grits, best in DC in my opinion, then our guest from France raved about the scallops. Wine list was decent and better than average. Service was spot on. Highly recommend.

What a nice surprise! We were looking for a spot that served more "simple" food and found it with a lovely presentation and flavor. We had rockfish, and the hangar steak, and both were delicious. We also had the cheese and meat board as an appetizer. While I will say the portions on the board were too small, the quality was top notch. As for the entrees, the portions were more than generous! It's the kind of place you can wear nice jeans, yet still get great service and solidly good food. Highly recommend, especially if you don't want to travel to DC.

The food was excellent but the service was less then stellar. We waited an excruciating amount of time for our first round of drinks. Nobody came to take our drinks order or even to say “please bear with us”- they never acknowledged the long wait. Then when we ordered two bottles of Rose at one time ( so we had one ready) and when it finally came, the server asked if we would mind waiting a few more minutes so it can be more chilled. Again, no one came over to apologize or offer us something else while we waited- or even said “ the wine isn’t chilled would you like something else”. Overall I think th waiter was overwhelmed with several larger groups. I think the managment should have stepped in. It wasn’t overly crowded when we sat down and we did have a reservation. The fried green tomatoes were excellent. I think it’s a great spot but the service needs to be better.

Went for a business dinner for five people. Attentive service and great food. Eclectic menu choices (e,g., lamb bolognese) combined with dependable standards (e.g., spiced shrimp and grits). People could find whatever they wanted to eat to accommodate various allergies and preferences, but four of five picked the rockfish and it was a big hit!

Chicken and Waffles - Chicken was good, but wayyy too much of it and not enough waffle (1/2). The fruit compote is cold and misplaced... Didn't fit. Greens weren't good and an unnecessary side. Calamari was excellent.

Service was slow. We we're stuck into a back section of the restaurant with no light fixtures or anything on the walls. Felt like dining in a office space pantry.

Wonderful meal and great options from seafood to pasta to American. My only reason giving 4 stars overall was that our drinks were empty for quite a while and service was not outstanding. But definitely still a great place with fantastic ambience!

I knew it had to be decent as Laura, the owner was associated with Grapeseed, one of my favorite restaurants for years, and knew what quality food and drinks would attract the right crowd. I have tried to go here several times, however it was just too busy and the wait was too long. Last Saturday night was different. We wanted outside seating and looked at several options and luckily Barrel and Crow had availability! We were greeted by friendly staff and seated quickly, ordered a couple of cocktails and boy were they easy to drink! Ordered several appetizers and entree, all which were very good. The fresh buratta was simply tender and melted in the mouth. The Spices in the Lamb Bolognese enhanced the bouquet and made the lamb taste similar to an Indian dish. The pasta was fresh and cooked perfectly. Highly recommend those two.

Mini tuna tacos , Gnocchi, fried green tomatoes.. excellent service ... Concord grape sorbet with port and black pepper . Never a disappointment. Laura you have done an amazing job with your place!

I went for a quick meal before choir rehearsal. Sancerre arrived promptly. I ordered a signature dish... pan roasted rockfish and beet salad. The salad was fine. The fish managed to be over cooked and soggy at the same time. Came with minced seasonal veggies in a light tomato sauce that tasted like it came from a bottle. Disappointing. I have had good lunches here and expected better.

Fun and exciting! Hand rolled pasta with pork and cockles. Fried green tomatoes with pimento cheese.. yum! Our server Netali was lovely , staff seems to work together and enjoy there job .The Bourbon list is incredible as is the beer list. Something for everyone!

A friend and I met up here for brunch, we had a reservation on Open Table, but many folks were able to just walk-in and snag a table right away.

Barrel and Crow has a nice atmosphere, good lighting, some outdoor seating and the bar area has floor to ceiling windows, so you can easily see outside without actually being with the mosquitos.

As a vegetarian, I found the menu to have enough diversity so that I was tossing between a few really good options, but not so overwhelming that half of your time together is spent reading. I had wine, but my friend got a yummy cocktail. And, instead of bread you get beignets! What a lovely surprise. As a dessert we ordered one more for $1 to satisfy our sweet-tooth even a little more.

They played a lot of billboard hits from various years in the background and had soccer and tennis on in the bar area. The staff is good and seem to have a team-centered approach to caring for their guests meaning you won't just have on waiter check on you, but various people will check in throughout your dining experience.

The portions were well-sized. Not too much food so no take-home portion for later. Prices were what one would expect in Bethesda.

The warm beignets, served before the meal, were melt in your mouth wonderful. We stopped there for a Saturday brunch and were not disappointed. The service was friendly and helpful, and the menu offered some interesting twists on brunch. I ordered the roasted chicken sandwich, usually a boring option - but it was delicious - the kimchi/avocado and other toppings combined with perfectly done, moist chicken on a really good roll, made it really enjoyable. Our server was very good, and knowledgeable about the ingredients - steering me away from items with dairy (I'm allergic) without having to check with the kitchen.

A restaurant we wanted to try and it did not disappoint. The menu had a nice variety of choices. No one got the same thing and we were all happy with our meal. Nice wine and beer list. A bit on the noisy side but luckily tables weren't on top of each other so you still had a sense of privacy.

This was our second time dining at Barrel & Crow. We really enjoyed our first dining experience there. This last time was not wonderful. The food was very mediocre. The rockfish came as a small 2”x 2” piece sitting on top of a ridiculously small portion of veggies for $29.00. The gumbo came with barley a 1/4 cup of broth and had a burnt taste. The mussels were over salted and the duck to tostadas, the duck was flavorful but the tostada was too firm.
A disappointing meal this time around. Not sure we will try this again.

We went for our daughter's 20th birthday and had a wonderful time. Food was awesome. Our waiter was great: friendly, helpful with suggestions that were spot on and attentive without being obtrusive. Overall a spectacular night out for her birthday. Only minor complaint is that we had a party of 6 and a 20% tip was automatically added. I'm sure that's stated somewhere on the menu for larger parties, which is fine. I always tip very well for outstanding service (our daughter also works as a waiter), so I am attuned to rewarding good service. I guess I'm just more sad that, maybe because of likely past bad behavior by patrons, the restaurant felt it needed to institute this type of policy. It in no way detracted from our overall experience and we will gladly return!

We went for restaurant week and had a very good meal. Rockfish was cooked just right, with a wonderful mixed vegetable dish as a side. My spouse had the salmon entree which was also excellent; you can't go wrong with their fish entrees.
Desserts were very good , especially the blueberry panna Cotta.
My only quibble would be with the grilled peach salad. Peaches we're cold; I would have expected them to be warm.
A great place for dinner, and the patio is quieter than indoors

We went to B & C ad part of the Bethesda Restaurant Week. Lots of healthy options which is why I chose it. Grilled teach salad was good however the dressing needed a more citrusy or fruity note. I had the salmon burger which was very tasty.

Great meal! Excellent baby arugula salad and amazing shrimp and grits. Restaurant allowed me to bring my own bottle of Champagne for a reasonable corkage fee. Other local restaurants aren't as accommodating.

Excellent across the board. Netali is lovely , warm service , great w recommendations ! Fried green tomatoes with pimento cheese, who knew I liked green tomatoes! The wild mushrooms with gnocchi and for our main course , seared duck with a tangy bbq sauce , stuffed squash blossoms. You have to save room for dessert- the cantaloupe sorbet is out of this world... chocolate coconut pecan bar , would even be amazing for breakfast ! Elegance, enjoyed it again !

The service was quite nice. They genuinely wanted to make sure you were satisfied. The crab beignets, duck tacos, lamb bolognese, rock fish and shrimp grits were really good. We hoped to have more peach on the grilled peach salad.
I’d definitely go back.
It’s better to sit in the front of the restaurant as the back is a depressing grey. The back of the restaurant was not comforting. A splash of color or art would lift the ambience.
