Fun sidewalk dining and lovely friendly hosts. Fun menu options. Excellent calamari and trout. All food was overly salty, fries were perhaps the best thing. Mussels--only half opened, and when we brought it up, wasn't verbally acknowledged or discounted or comped on the bill. A cocktail described as 'dry' ended up being bitter and overly sweet. Pretty poor value for money. Not a particularly accomplished staff, no GM seemed in evidence for the snafus, and sadly cannot really recommend.

It is hard to find a restaurant that has a quiet back room to catch up with an old friend plus great food and excellent staff. Barrel & Crow delivered on all counts! Valet parking made for an even more relaxing evening. Wonderful seasonal menu. Unique appetizers.

We really enjoyed our meal. The food was very good as was the service. Duck tostadas were extremely good. Three of us had the soft shell crabs which were prepared quite well, without that awful breading some restaurants use. Highly recommended and plan to return soon.

Trout was excellent, crab beignets overrated, rather bland. Rockfish, duck and scallops also received high marks from our table.
Service was pleasant. Elliot, who seemed to be the evening manager/Maitre D was outstanding. His willingness to help out with parking, making sure we didn’t have to worry, found my phone in the car and retrieving the car at the end, all done graciously was exemplary.
Ambiance in the dining room could be improved. VERY rustic decor, walking back to bathrooms was not what one would expect: looked like construction was going on.
Nevertheless, food was clean tasting, delicious and a welcome change from dishes smothered in cream or cheese over overly complicated.

Everything we ordered was delicious.
The lower rating for a value was because the appetizers portions were small and not really big enough for sharing

Total price of nearly $40 for two seemed a bit high
but would certainly come again but not as often as I would like

Excellent Brunch ! Great patio space. The day was perfect to sit outside and enjoy tangy tart green tomatoes with pimento cheese , they are lightly coated with a red pepper could. Chicken and waffles, salmon burger were also good . Buttermilk Panna Cotta is a must , nectarines , blueberries ! Righteous and wicked ... a drink made in house . Service was great! Will return when back in town.

Restaurant was quiet. We ordered breakfast and my husband ordered coffee. We received our meals and drinks but no coffee. Seemed a bit disorganized with servers. Took too long for a cup of coffee. Put a damper on the occasion. No recognition for birthday. No accommodation for request for outdoors. Could have offered seating near open doors

Outstanding meal! Great flavors , way to use ingredients from the season. We stumbled upon you and decided to make a reservation to come in. Fresh watermelon salad , local goat cheese . Duck Tostadas, Gnocchi w Wild Pennsylvania Mushrooms, and to finish the meal off we had Peach Shortcake with White Chocolate Mousse. Excellent service !

We went to sit outside in the gorgeous weather and to celebrate a friend's birthday. The service was excellent and the food was very good. The server was aware of my serious food allergies and accommodated other special requests, as well. We will come back.

Absolutely phenomenal meal! Right from the start, the chipotle margarita and gnocchi appetizer were unique in concept and perfect in execution. I ordered the shrimp and grits, and my wife ordered the scallops. Both were superb. We also couldn't resist ordering the duck fat parmesan fries as a shared side. Finished everything off with the rhubarb crisp (very good, but a little too heavy on the ginger and lime ice cream - I think vanilla would have counterbalanced the tanginess a little better). The Irish coffee that washed down dessert was PERFECT - no Bailey's, just a good thick schlag on top. The service was professional and attentive from start to finish, which is rare for someone used to being abandoned after the entree is served. We will be coming back many times over.

This is an outstanding restaurant. The food is amazing and well presented. I highly recommend the tacitos and the gnocchi. The gnocchi just melts in your mouth! The hanger steak if fantastic as are the soft shell crabs. The staff is friendly and always available right when you need them. You truly can't go wrong with anything on their menu. Highly recommended.

Fire rhe manager. We were seated but told we couldn’t order drinks because wait staff ddnt arrive for ten minutes! Waiter arrived immediately made good wine suggestions and took our order. He knew the menu and offered help with entree selections. Food was delicious. Service first rate.
They need a new manager.

I met my friend here for a quiet lunch. It was indeed quiet. She had fried tomatoes and shrimp and grits and enjoyed them both. I had the gazpacho and an oyster po boy. The soup was light and refreshing, the po boy however wasn’t great. It came with under seasoned over-cooked home chips. The bread was a ‘roof scratcher’ so I ended up taking the oysters off, but even they were soggy and underwhelming. Just a ‘meh’ for me.

Good food priced reasonably for the Bethesda neighborhood where it resides. I ordered the rockfish with seasonable vegetables, which I liked, while my girlfriend got the gumbo, which she liked.

It’s a decent place to get an early dinner but I’m not sure if I’ll be a repeat customer yet after this initial visit. Bethesda has a lot of good restaraunts so they have to stand out for diners to become regulars and I’m not sure this place did.

The food was okay at best. The duck (how can you mess that up) was simply unedible. Good beer selection, and some other dishes are less terrible, but for this price range I would expect much much better.
