This may be my favorite Bethesda restaurant right now. The food is unbelievably good and the staff is attentive and knowledgable. I had a date night with my husband this weekend. He had the chicken & waffles... I had the steak and fries. Both were amazing. They changed their dessert menu recently, which meant the amazing crème brulee is missing, so we skipped dessert. We did have the burrata appetizer -- the cheese is so rich and creamy and fresh. It is my favorite thing. Although the fried tomatoes are delicious with their pimento cheese spread. Plus, Barrel & Crow has a nice little patio outside so you can watch the people walking around Bethesda. I'll be back all summer to this little gem.

My husband and I recently had dinner at Barrel and Crow. The atmosphere was great. Our server was attentive, knowledgeable and super friendly. She was right there with everything that we needed, but never in the way. The owner, Laura, is warm and friendly. She treats all her customers like good friends.

Everything was delicious, especially the ahi tuna taquitos appetizer. It is a Must if you like raw tuna; we loved the presentation and they were out of this world. We will definitely be back. :)

Made a reservation through Open Table requesting a table away from noise. When we arrived the restaurant was not crowded and we were seated next to the kitchen door. Guess they don't read the requests. Waitress was not very friendly but was ok in serving. She was much more active with the tables that had more bottles of wine than ours. Understand that tips are important but her lack of better service would make me think twice on returning. Food was good but small portions for the price.

We arrived a little early for Sunday Brunch. We were seated immediately. We got fried green tomatoes for an appetizer. They also had complimentary beignets which were delicious. I got the brisket hash for my main dish and the eggs were perfectly poached on top. It could have used more hollandaise but it was delicious. Service was good and food came out very quickly. I would definitely go back!

I had 20 people here for my 60th birthday a year ago and had a lot of fun. last weekend menu was good. my buddy and I had Gumbo but they forgot to put the Andouille sausage in it....portion was kinda small for money so we were still hungry.
Still like the place though.

What an enjoyable experience, I had lunch by myself to unwind from a tense meeting and walked away from such a lovely lunch. My server was accommodating to my gluten allergy and went through the items I picked from and was able to replace the items I could not eat. He was fantastic , he made sure I was fine but not overwhelming. I had the salmon burger without the bun , tuna Taquitos, kale salad that tasted like it was just picked that morning. The strawberry sorbet with rose secco- delicious. It’s hard to find great service , yohansee was exceptional! Great dining experience. I will definitely return with other friends , so I can indulge with there craft cocktails and great selection of bourbon.

First and foremost...the thing that kills any experience is....dirty and chipped dishes and a dirty napkin. For goodness sakes throw away soiled PAPER menus! If we were not starving, out the door we go. Anyways, the food was ok at best and the service the same. Won't go back.

Yet another fine outing at B&C. We love the fact that the food and service are always at least good, and are often great. Rockfish and scallops were particularly good on our visit, and we had a well priced bottle of Nebbiolo to accompany the food. Ambiance can't be beat for a night out with friends - one can hold a conversation without shouting, yet the restaurant maintains a nice level of energy. Glad to see B&C continuing to thrive.

The restaurant feels very hipster-esq from the decor, to the food, to the glass bottle of water they put on your table. If you like interesting dishes, this might be the place for you. (I don't like seafood, so that limits my ability to appraise the entire menu.) The best choice for choosy eaters would definitely be the chicken and waffles (which I ordered). The chicken was warm, moist, and the breading was amazingly flaky and flavorful. Mine came with a breast and a drumstick. I usually don't eat drumsticks, but it was meaty and delicious! The waffle was a waffle, and complemented the chicken well with the maple syrup. I do not like collards, but if you do, these have shallots and bacon in them. It also came with a fruit compote (like a fruity pie filling) that was quite enjoyable. Overall, you should give them a try, but I would only go on special occasions, or when my date has a hankering for something specific on their menu. It wont please everyone, but for those who like it, you'll probably love it.

For our 30th birthday celebration we decided to stop by Barrel & Crow! From the moment we walked in we could tell we picked the best place! We started out with the Tuna Taquitos and crab beignets which were to die for! For entrees I got the Short Rib Tortelli and he got the Sautéed Sea Scallops both were so amazing I didn’t want to share! Lastly for desert we split the crime brûlée, which recommend to us exceeded our expectations. A big thank you to our lovely server Jan for providing us with an evening to remember! We will definitely be back to this hidden Bethesda gem that the manager Laura has established!

This is my go to neighborhood spot. First they have oysters, amazing oysters! I want oysters everyday, they are always fresh and yummy . The dining room is properly dim in the evening, as it should be. Me and a friend tore thru not just oysters ,but a bunch of appetizers and split dessert last night. I like to pretend everything is small plates, to try as much as possible. Last night (besides the yummy oysters), we shared pork riblets, gnocchi, crab beignets, ahi tuna taquitos, and the Chocolate Peanut Bar . The crab beignets, which live on the menu , were just as light and fluffy as every previous visit . The pork riblets, have just enough heat and asian flavor to make you to fight over the last one. The gnocchi has a perfect texture, amazing mushrooms, and brown butter. The taquitos are little taste explosions. Don't miss their chicken and waffles, the braised pork cheek, or the fried oyster and andouille gumbo. Clearly I go there a lot , but I do find it the most consistant restaurant in Bethesda. The staff is friendly as well, the menu is changing with the seasons, and it's just super chill there. And the pastry chef makes dessert a non option, she made me like gingerbread again !

I loved everything about this place. The décor, the service, the food ... attentive and friendly servers, a great brunch selection and décor that made me feel comfortable and at home (to match the cuisine.) The complimentary beignets were splendid! They made me wish I could order some to go. The ONLY thing I would mention (and trust me, I hate to even say this because I loved this place so much) is that the braised collard greens were a little sandy and I would have preferred to have them stewed a little longer at a low temp, to give it the true soul food, made with love taste. Don't get me wrong, the bacony-vinegary seasoning was perfect, just a little underdone. I will be back when I'm in Bethesda again (to try the crabcake benedict).

The gnocchi was mushy and drowning in butter. It was terrible. The short rib was ok, again, to much butter and this dish shouldn’t have butter.... butter, lots and lots of butter

Complimentary Beignets with Whip Cream. Delicious! Our server was polite and professional. Great Vibes as the place was busy and the decor is modern yet cozy. The Chicken and Waffles were nice and juicy with a nice crisp coating on the outside. Best by far Shrimp and Grits . Creme Brûlée was also delicious. Can’t wait to go back for Dinner ! First time - great service , drinks and. Food!

There was almost no one in the restaurant but we had terrible service. We had to ask for our drink orders numerous time and the waiter only visited our table once every half hour. The food was good but the overall experience was so poor, I would never go again. Was disappointed I had chosen the restaurant for the evening with our friends.

There are a lot of good restaurants and therefore competition in Bethesda and when I consider what I ordered, the ambiance, the cost, I immediately thought of better places for the same. Everything about the service and food was OK, it certainly was not bad by any stretch, but I KNOW how much BETTER it COULD be and just go around the corner to get that at another place. Loved the look of the place and immediately felt comfortable when seated. The waiter was fine, not particularly attentive, but that was mostly OK. The food was flavorful, but my pasta dish was not hot, it was barely even warm. So, I am hoping that the restaurant was just having an "off" night and will await word from someone that goes there that they had a wonderful and delicious experience.

Good food, great staff, pleasant atmosphere with nicely spaced tables with a minimal rustic decor. Went there on Valentine’s Day and was pleased that they served both a special prix fixe menu and their regular menu which tends toward American Southern-ish. We ordered from the latter and were really happy with our shared beet and our 2 entrees —scallops and Rockfish, and a shared dessert —an exceeding yummy Apple and Pear Crisp. Nice selection of wines.

Other than a minor point that the plain walls of the side dining room (which is adjacent and open to the main dining area where we were seated) could benefit from adding wall decorations or photos, everything was great.
