Best meal I've had in a long time.
Surviving Covid is one thing-
Providing such a great experience and meal was absolutely amazing. The food was excellent and our server was perfect.
Ok - so we made a reservation; got there early, had a drink at the bar, got seated, ad waited, and waited, and waited - 20 minutes - not even an offer of water. We got up and left. (walked a few blocks to Black's and had a great dinner).
We've eaten here before; food was good, service decent, but this time, far from it - it was like we took invisible pills.
The waiter actually stopped by the tables adjacent to us - offered dessert, etc. but didn't even look us -
Bethesda has too many places to eat to sit in a corner and wait.
Don't waste your time....unless you have a lot of time to waste.
We have eaten at this restaurant 3 or 4 times and it always impresses. It is one of my favorite restaurants in Montgomery county. Great menu, delicious food and good service.
Fantastic happy hour selections - the food and wine was really great!
First time dining and I will be back ! Service was some of the best I’ve had in a long time . The food was fresh and properly seasoned . Shout out to the owner as she handled a citation , she politely went over to a large group to ask the young girl to turn the volume lower on her movie she was watching on an phone . What ever happened to crayons and kids being involved with a dining experience. You handled it in a professional way . The place was the busiest in Bethesda as we walked over . Compliments!
Our first time at B lamb bolognese,; and rockfish were all superb.
I found the food too expensive for the quality provided. The Parisienne Gnocchi dish was unremarkable - a bit of cheese on top and nothing else to be remembered. The raviolis were dry and tasteless. The Rockfish was mostly dark meat and, although it was not fishy, it was not appetizing. The service was very good. In summary, did not find the food to be bad, only expensive for what I got. If I am going to pay $30 for a plate I rather go to another restaurant in the area where you get more value for your money
First time dining at Barrel & Crow and we really liked it! Late afternoon lunch/early dinner with our son on the patio and it was a great find! Nice atmosphere, delicious food and outstanding service. We will be back! Thank you!
Horrible experience. Physically sick from food and noise level unbearable. Other guests acting out of line, screaming and cussing ruined the atmosphere completely. Will not go back
Great service — host was super helpful. LOVED the duck special.
The beer list is local and has some really tasty options.
For appetizers, loved the ahí taquitos, crab binnets, and organic chicken wings.
Our patry had a great time at Barrel and Crow last evening. Table was great on outdoor patio.
We chose this restaurant based on the extensive beer list and dinner options. The restaurant offered outdoor seating options on their patio and on the street. We chose the patio as it was covered and not a thoroughfare with people walking around and through. Although we had one waiter, two other severs asked if we had been told the special foe the evening, but didn’t ask if we had ordered or anything else. Maybe pushing the special hard? The appetizers were delicious; entrees average. The blackened salmon lacked any blackened flavor and the dish overall needed seasoning. It also incorporated the same couli as the fried green tomato appetizer giving it a very similar flavor. Perhaps some differentiation? My husband was happy with the shrimp and grits, but not overwhelmed by the taste. I would say stick with beers and burgers here.
All the appetizers, main courses and drinks were top-notch. They did not rush us, even though we were seated outside and we appreciated that.
We have recommended Barrel & Crow already to numerous friends, including the couple we were with last night, and they had already visited once before as a result of our recommendation. They commented on how delicious everything was last night and said it was the same at their earlier visit.
Keep up the good work, as you have been, despite the trying circumstances.
Wonderful food and outstanding service. Love eating outside. Even the chairs are comfortable which is not usually the case with outdoor eating. Highly recommend.
The appetizers were very good, but our bottle of red wine was served warm. This shouldn't happen at a restaurant with this price point. One of the entrees was also overcooked.
I have had very good food at this restaurant before, so I hope this was just an off-night.
Great food and service and ambiance! Will be back!
They were very accommodating to our party as the number people varied from day to day. I had the ahi tuna taquitos that were good but they needed something to make the special..maybe some pickled jalapeño or ginger. I also had the house made ravioli was just ok as it paired with asparagus that made the dish a little bitter and the ravioli didn’t have much filling. I would go back to try to duck fat fries I had a few off of a friends plate and they were crisp and flavorful. I hope the other folks in my party leave reviews they seem to like their food better than I did.
The service was incredibly slow…
Exceptional food and fantastic service
Excellent food, prompt service
Diverse ale carte brunch menu . Well priced and good service. The chef offered complimentary beignets which we enjoyed while waiting for our appetizers. Our party of 4 enjoyed our dishes ( short rib hash, salmon burger, Belgium waffles, and shrimp and grits). The portions were standard sized - an appetizer is recommended for the super hungry. The flourless chocolate cake was also very good.
Food was amazing. Staff was very friendly and efficient.
Crab Beignets and Hanger Steak were fantastic. Wings were a little meh. Overall great dinner.
Great food and excellent service. Loved the calamari!
We started outside but a storm was brewing so we had to move inside. The staff handled it very well. The food was delicious. We always enjoy our meals at Barrel & Crow.
Great! Food was amazing
Bethesda has a great outdoor vibe where many of the restaurants are doing sidewalk dining. It was my first time eating at Barrel and Crow and settled on the beet salad and steak frites which were both very very good. The kitchen was about to close but the waitstaff were alert and attentive to making sure our order made it in time for is to have a lovely dinner.
Awesome! Food was great and waiter treated us with special care! Created his own mock tail for us
Tasty food in a nice atmosphere. We were able to sit outside which was nice. The bar was running a little slowly but the kitchen was right on time. The server, Paola, was outstanding!
Enjoyed the outdoor seating. Food was very good.
We've been coming to thus restaurant for our anniversary for 6 years now. The food is amazing, the staff are great, and the ambiance is perfect. If you haven't been here yet, I would highly recommend it. It's one of our favorite places in the DC area.
I love the environment and the food! I will be back soon
The Tangerine and Thyme Martini was delicious. The gumbo was ok, but I was expecting more. The lamb bolognese was not as flavorful as I remembered, but it was still good. Maybe it was a bit of an "off" night so I am willing to try again.
Fresh food , excellent service during these troubled times!
Duck Tostados were exceptional, flavorful with a crispy tortilla. The heritage Pork Chop was so tender and I like the sautéed red cabbage . Service is always fantastic even with the lack of help! Will Return! Well Done Barrel !
Service was excellent. Duck fat fries were sinfully good. Skirt steak and rockfish were also perfectly prepared. Will go again.
Love this place. The fries are the BEST ever and the mushroom gnocchi is amazing. We got the rockfish and lamb bolognese entrees. Neither of us would get them again. The veggies under the rockfish were yummy, but the rockfish itself was overcooked. The bolognese was bland. We also got the shrimp and grits to go and those were delicious.
