Barrel and Crow: A Contemporary Approach to Regional cuisine. Our Chef-driven restaurant relies solely on locally sourced produce and proteins. We utilizes these seasonal ingredients in preparing refined yet familiar comfort food. House made pastas and charcuterie offered every evening. Chef is always anxious to modify menu items to fit any dietary restrictions. Gluten, Vegetarian, Vegan and Dairy allergies are no problem. Pastry Chef Justin Roche dessert menu offers guests a selection of traditional desserts with a contemporary twist. Eclectic wine list which focuses on small production, boutique wines. A selection of 48 bourbons, extensive beer list with offerings from the top breweries in the Mid-Atlantic region. Full bar, seasonal cocktail menu and a wide selection of small batch spirits. The 3 of us had an enjoyable and excellent meal. We shared the fried calamari, which were nice and crispy. Our main courses were the scallops, shrimp and grits, and gumbo. Everything was tasty, and there were no leftovers. A nice cava accompanied the meal. Our waiter was helpful and attentive even though it was very busy when we were there and had no difficulty splitting the bill among the three of us.

Prior to leaving the area 7 years ago, Barrel & Crow was our favorite Bethesda restaurant. We returned recently and were reminded of the reasons we love it. Great food and service, fun ambience and extraordinary value. So pleased to see that despite all the changes in Bethesda and the challenge of COVID, this place not only survived but continues to deliver a wonderful dining experience.

First time for us here. The food was great. The noise level was a bit above energetic, and it made it hard for our table of 6 to have a conversation without shouting. Service was good but it was spotty - food came quickly and it was exactly as ordered. But it was hard to get our waiter's attention. It seems like it is a local hot spot and worth coming back to in the future because of the overall quality of the food and the ambience of place.

From the food to the wine to the service, Barrel & Crow earned an A! No one was disappointed in their meal choice and I can personally vouch for the Riesling. One of my friends casually reminded our waiter that we were celebrating my birthday—which was noted in the reservation as well—and the restaurant served dessert with a candle, Happy Birthday written in chocolate on the plate, and a chorus. Lovely touch!
