Barrachina Ratings and Reviews
Always look forward to a dining experience at this gem of a restaurant when visiting San Juan.
It never disappoints and we were very pleased with our meals. We actually dined at the bar and received excellent service. Next trip to San Juan be sure to make it a dining stop.
🇵🇷 PRSELEVANTA 🇵🇷
We visited Barrachina twice and both time ordered locally caught red snapper (it was delish).
First time for a lunch meal the service was top notch (like in many places in Puerto Rica- they are doing a great job), our passion fruit mohito was amazing, everything serviced fast.
Second time was dinner- we went to Flamenco event.
Make sure you book by phone- there is no reservation option for Flamenco event on line- what looks like that is just their general reservation.
Ask to be seated close to the stage.
Performance: TOP NOTCH ; I am fan, I saw Flamenco many time- they were EXCELLENT, - A +!
Service: was not as good- the waiters were kind of tired and confused. The food was still good; nothing over the top.
Overall- a very pleasant experience.
Considering that they close at 5pm in Wednesday's and my reservation was put in closer to 3:15pm, the restaurant had the courtesy to call me and notify me of the early closure. That was greatly appreciated since we were doing souvenir shopping nearby. And the young ladies at the front were very pleasant seeing that it was the end of their day.
Now to the food --- Four out of five in my party had the roast pork with pigeon peas rice and it did not disappoint. The last person in our party had the red snapper and there were nothing but bones on the plate!! Needless to say we were very satisfied! Oh, can't forget about the piña coladas...They were very good and hit the spot after a hot day. I and my family very much recommend Barrachina!!
Absolutely INCREDIBLE. I ordered the plantain canoe with shrimp and it was hands down one of the most amazing meals I've ever had. Please give this place a try. The pina coladas are perfection, the food is even better, the service was top notch, and the ambiance was great. You won't be disappointed.
The food was ok but we went to celebrate my wife's birthday I had requested them for a couple roses and write happy bday on her dessert plate nothing happened I requested dessert menu to 3-4 employees they never brought to us our server I probably saw him when I order and when I paid...expensive....for the quality of service...hostess employee a boy with curly hair when we approached the host-stand had a very bad attitude...and he did read about my note but literally he didn't gave a care...worst service worst restaurant definitely no going back!!!
The Mofongo was outstanding! and the rest of the food was so-so. The staff were attentive but not very friendly. One big problem we had was bugs, not in our food, but flying around and when we left all 10 of us were covered in mosquito bites. the bites were allover our legs. the bugs were flying around a bit but most of them under the table which is a bit odd.
We were fortunate enough to be bumped up into the room where the flamenco dancing was taking place. The hour long show was a real highlight of our trip. The food was good and authentic Puerto Rican cuisine, but not the absolute best we had on the island. The piña coladas were outstanding, however, and the overall experience was very memorable. Definitely would recommend to people visiting Old San Juan, especially if you can get in for the flamenco show on Friday or Saturday night.
To see the free flamenco show you need to call first. Even if you write it they won't make you sit in that room. They put us just outside the room and it was an in and out between waiters and people standing to watch the show, we saw nothing . The piña colada and food were good.
My favorite Red Snapper! I look forward to dining at Barrachina every year on our return to SanJuan. Really good Piña Coladas. Usually we sit outside but we understand that seating 2 at a larger table isn't practical. The air conditioned dining rooms are just fine if you're after great food. Definity try the snapper or the Mofungo!
