We had a lovely lunch the service was excellent
We had frozen mojito’s and piña colada’s
Red snapper hamburger and fried pork
If you visit San Juan and don't eat at Barrachina...shame on you! Seafood Paella, AMAZING! I will dream about that dish forever. And if you want to know what a real Pina Colada tastes like, this is the place. Thank you for making part of our vacation so yummy and memorable. Will definitely be back next time we are in San Juan. Muchas Gracias!
Nice atmosphere, the food was very good, and the service was excellent. Definitely recommend if you want a taste of real Puerto Rican food!
Great food, great service, great ambience, great restaurant.
Food was excellent. Service was good. Nice atmosphere. Home of the original Pina Colada and they were delicious! Touristy prices
Barrachina exceeded my expectations. Since they are known as the place where the Pina Colada was invented, I had expected the r staurant to be much more touristy. The ambient was pleasant and the paella excellent as was the Pina Colada. Well worth the visit.
What a great place. The people & food we're excellent
Wonderful hostess and server
Our table was ready and waiting, staff was very prompt with requests; food came out hot. Great experience; that's why we keep going back!
Food was good but place was pretty empty.
Sadly didn’t live up to the reviews. The pina colada came from a pre-mixer in a rotating icer. Paella was celebrated as one of the best items and the lobster was so over cooked we couldn’t cut it with a knife, it didn’t make the mark. We did hear that many other items were good, however it will probably be a while until we return. The coconut calamari was tasty, server was attentive and the restaurant was busy and clean.
The restaurant is actually quite well put together for a very welcoming ambiance. But the lobster was dry and over priced. The steak and our other dishes we fantastic, we could definitely try this restaurant again.
Pina colada’s heaven
5 of us went here for our last evening on an otherwise wonderful first trip to PR and am sad to say we were disappointed, as our experience definitely did not match the glowing reviews we had read in several places. First surprise was finding the table was set with plastic cutlery, plates, etc.--the whole meal was served on disposable everything. Apparently a water problem, so OK, probably not their fault, post Maria we definitely cut them some slack in these matters. But more importantly, the food was very pedestrian, not terrible but definitely not anywhere near the best we had eaten elsewhere, including in much more modest places. Portions also on the small side, we did not starve but given what they charge we were definitely underwhelmed. Would not recommend this place any time soon.
Always look forward to a dining experience at this gem of a restaurant when visiting San Juan.
It never disappoints and we were very pleased with our meals. We actually dined at the bar and received excellent service. Next trip to San Juan be sure to make it a dining stop.
EL lugar tiene comida típica, y las mejores piñas coladas que haya probado. Me gustó que había opciones típicas vegetarianas como mofongo de verduras. Los precios son bastante accesibles y la atención es buena.
On vacation, we tried this restaurant because it was recommended for the pina colata. It was great. The food was meh.
🇵🇷 PRSELEVANTA 🇵🇷
Barrachina Restaurant was recommended by a friend who came to Puerto Rico on a previous trip. The food and drinks were excellent. We had a great time and the staff was terrific. Definitely next time we are in Puerto Rico we'll make an effort to return.
Absolutely delicious and a perfect way to end our vacation in San Juan! I will definitely be going back again when I get the chance. And the Piña colada was AMAZING!! A must have!
Worst tourist trap ever. Not sure what was worst - the poor service or the Luke warm food.
Excellent food in SJU
We visited Barrachina twice and both time ordered locally caught red snapper (it was delish).
First time for a lunch meal the service was top notch (like in many places in Puerto Rica- they are doing a great job), our passion fruit mohito was amazing, everything serviced fast.
Second time was dinner- we went to Flamenco event.
Make sure you book by phone- there is no reservation option for Flamenco event on line- what looks like that is just their general reservation.
Ask to be seated close to the stage.
Performance: TOP NOTCH ; I am fan, I saw Flamenco many time- they were EXCELLENT, - A +!
Service: was not as good- the waiters were kind of tired and confused. The food was still good; nothing over the top.
Overall- a very pleasant experience.
We had a great time. Pina Coladas were great. Food was good.
Considering that they close at 5pm in Wednesday's and my reservation was put in closer to 3:15pm, the restaurant had the courtesy to call me and notify me of the early closure. That was greatly appreciated since we were doing souvenir shopping nearby. And the young ladies at the front were very pleasant seeing that it was the end of their day.
Now to the food --- Four out of five in my party had the roast pork with pigeon peas rice and it did not disappoint. The last person in our party had the red snapper and there were nothing but bones on the plate!! Needless to say we were very satisfied! Oh, can't forget about the piña coladas...They were very good and hit the spot after a hot day. I and my family very much recommend Barrachina!!
I had great time at Barrachina. The food was good and fresh. The presentation of the food was good too. The staff was friendly and very professional. I had there famous pina colada without liquor and I thought it was very good.
Came for the original pina colada. It was good but we should have left then, we were rushed to order and then waited at least 45 minutes for our food, which was mediocre. Waitress never apologized for the delay and never came to check on our meal.
The food and service were both reasonable. This is another restaurant living off its glory days and catering to cruise ship tourists. Although the flamenco show looks pretty good.
Good food. Quiet atmosphere. Home of the Pina Colada.
Absolutely INCREDIBLE. I ordered the plantain canoe with shrimp and it was hands down one of the most amazing meals I've ever had. Please give this place a try. The pina coladas are perfection, the food is even better, the service was top notch, and the ambiance was great. You won't be disappointed.
Victor our waiter embodied service. The food was excellent, plenty to share. The Pina Colada is a "must"!
The food was ok but we went to celebrate my wife's birthday I had requested them for a couple roses and write happy bday on her dessert plate nothing happened I requested dessert menu to 3-4 employees they never brought to us our server I probably saw him when I order and when I paid...expensive....for the quality of service...hostess employee a boy with curly hair when we approached the host-stand had a very bad attitude...and he did read about my note but literally he didn't gave a care...worst service worst restaurant definitely no going back!!!
The food was excellent. The service was great. Family of 6 with four teenage boys all loved it
The Mofongo was outstanding! and the rest of the food was so-so. The staff were attentive but not very friendly. One big problem we had was bugs, not in our food, but flying around and when we left all 10 of us were covered in mosquito bites. the bites were allover our legs. the bugs were flying around a bit but most of them under the table which is a bit odd.
We were fortunate enough to be bumped up into the room where the flamenco dancing was taking place. The hour long show was a real highlight of our trip. The food was good and authentic Puerto Rican cuisine, but not the absolute best we had on the island. The piña coladas were outstanding, however, and the overall experience was very memorable. Definitely would recommend to people visiting Old San Juan, especially if you can get in for the flamenco show on Friday or Saturday night.
We were only in town for 4 days and managed to eat here twice (dinner and lunch). Best mojitos during our stay. Great local fare. Won't disappoint.
Amazing food...Great service (Shout out to Enos)...pina colada was delicious...everyone Must eat here when they visit Puerto Rico
We enjoyed this local restaurant in Old San Juan. Our waiter was amazing and so engaging. Food was fantastic and plenty of it. We did not have the signature Pina Colada, but went for the Sangria - delicious. Would definitely come back when in Puerto Rico!
Our waiter was friendly and super informative. Great service and amazing food. Will recommend to others
To see the free flamenco show you need to call first. Even if you write it they won't make you sit in that room. They put us just outside the room and it was an in and out between waiters and people standing to watch the show, we saw nothing . The piña colada and food were good.
