New ownership. Very friendly staff and owner was present and talked about future plans and goals. Oysters casino was very good, as were the drinks and great bartender/gm, and owner. strange current layout. Poor side selection, which is going to be updated. Steaks were good size and average priced. Tables dont fit theme of a nice steakhouse. Regular crowd for the bar.
The restaurant felt like it was located at the end of a strip mall. The interior has an outdated feel, with bad lighting from standard 60 watt light bulbs. The tables were tired laminate, something you would find in a local bar. The music playing was soft rock 80's. "Lady in Red" and "Waiting for a girl like you". When we arrived, I mentioned our reservation for seven people. We were escorted to a table for 6 and the server quickly moved a chair into place. We could see regulars at the bar, that looked like they had been there since they opened. Other than that, the place felt empty. Before getting served, we considered walking out.
We ordered a bottle of wine for the table that was off. We then ordered a different bottle of wine. One guest received a cracked wine glass and another had lipstick on his glass. They were taken away. Our server was clearly stressed but was trying his best to keep things going.
The Food: My steak was amazing. Cooked to perfection. Everyone in our party thought the steak was great. The desert was hand crafted. The chef obviously knows what he is doing.
If the restaurant was overhauled without changing the menu, it would be five star. Instead it's 2 star at best. It was definitely a night we will never forget. We won't be going back.
My husband and I have been to Barons at least 8 times in the last year and half, the food is always wonderful!!!!
We have yet to have the the same wait staff more than once!! Service is average if not questionable!!
Example, waiter had five table, and unable to keep them straight, overwhelmed with little to no help! But the place was not all that busy!!
This restaurant is located in a strip mall, but offers a surprisingly pleasant atmosphere. The bar and dining are both more than adequate. The varied menu offers steaks "prepared your way", fish, and other proteins. The waiter was friendly, informative and attentive. The food was perfectly prepared and nicely presented. Well worth the visit.
It was not a good experience at all. Our family had slow service. We ordered a steak med to medium well. It came out rare. We sent it back and they brought it out medium rare. I have a shrimp allergy and the waiter placed the shrimp platter in front of me. The dressings for the salads were on the side and tipped over on the plates all over the salad. Waiter stacked all the plates on top of each other trying to carry everything out at one time instead of using a tray. Not going back to this place. Ended up leaving and stopping somewhere else to pick up food.
Short wait which was nice for a family of 5 at Myrtle Beach; coconut shrimp excellent; salads good size, fresh and tasty; maybe to much parmesan cheese on the Caesar salad; filets were cooked perfectly - overall experience was great and waiter and staff were very nice and accommodating
Very quiet and cozy in the off season, but the food and service were great. We had four different meals and all four were good value and quite tasty. My friend's prime rib was outstanding according to him! The menu on line is different from the actual and they said they are in the process of updating.
The steak was wonderful. They give you several choices of cuts and prepare methods. I would not recommend the vegetables as a side dish. They were flavorless and do believe they were frozen. I do recommend the fried green tomatoes appetizer, it was really good. Kind of pricey so I'd recommend it for a special occasion.
From the moment we walk-in, we were greeted with a warm welcome. We both ordered the Ribeye Steaks in the traditional style. The steaks came out as we ordered and will great looking grill marks. The steaks were one of the best steaks we have had in the Myrtle Beach Area. Would definitely go back again.
A friend introduced us to Barron's. The first experience was wonderful. We are locals and had friends coming to town that wanted steak. Barron's it was. I haven't tried their steaks yet, but the crab dip appetizer and crab cakes are amazing!!!! That's what I keep coming back for. We're even considering Barron's for our company Christmas party.
Dine here every time we are in MB. This time had the crab cakes. Hubby had chopped sirloin. Salads are included and fresh. Bread is warm and delicious. Crabcakes were very tasty as was the sirloin. Note to chef: Miss your pork schnitzel : ( Wish you'd bring it back to the menu. Was always my favorite. Thanks for the consideration. Would highly recommend this restaurant.
everything served seemed to have been bought from a wholesale store like Sam's or Costco....salad was not fresh, and definitely came out of those pre-packaged bags; vegetable medley was a microwave frozen vegetable bag. Fish not cooked properly, and inordinate amount of dill (no indication this is how it was going to be served). Kids meal came with Ore Ida type fries, and apple sauce was a packaged "squeezable" kind (again, likely from Sam's). Nothing about this place is fresh.
Wouldn't recommend to anyone or go there again.
After dining at Baron's for many years, we made our reservation for a party of 4 for my husband's birthday through Open Table. Upon arrival (5:50 for a 6:15 reservation) we were told they did not have a table for us or any reservation for that matter. I showed the hostess/waitress my confirmation and she replied "oh I don't like that app" so I don't use it". Asking how long the wait would be, she abruptly replied "its a long wait" and there's nothing she could do. She could have suggested we wait at the bar( that didn't have one person sitting at it) or that she would try and do something to be accommodating. Total rudeness. The owner, Jeff, she said was not there that Friday night. Terrible way to run a business. We will never go back and neither will any of our other friends & family we used to take there.
The food was good and the waitress was GREAT. Unfortunately, she seemed like she was in charge of EVERYTHING. She was the hostess, the bartender, the waitress, the 'busboy', and apparently the waitress/etc for the private seating as well. Maybe they were just short staffed for the night, but it took over an hour and a half to get the food. I don't blame the waitress at all... but ya'll need to hire more staff.
Many problems on night we dined. Long wait just to order food, they ran out of ribeyes and potatoes. Let us know this 30 min after we ordered. Owner stopped by table to hear our concerns, but cut us off after 2nd issue - said he didn't want to discuss it any more and left. Wait staff were nice, but unfortunately working for very poorly run establishment. Hope they find better work elsewhere.
Sometimes it pays off to try eating somewhere new. Baron's failed to disappoint. What a great eatery. Our meal from the onset was very very good. We all, four of us, finished our meals, plates empty. Memorable was the crab dip appetizer, the Fulton Mountain Steak, Triple Prime Chopped Steak and fresh vegetables.
