Barolo Grill Ratings and Reviews
Everything was superb, except the process of reservations confirmation. I received a "live" call on Jan.5 from the restaurant asking for confirmation. I told the woman that we were looking forward to the evening the next day. On arrival at Barolo on the 6th at 5:45 with a copy of the confirmation details which I had printed, we were greeted by a young woman who told us that I had not returned 2 calls that day, thus the reservation was cancelled. I live in Colorado Springs, some 65 miles from the restaurant, and I was told the calls that day went to my home down there. The woman denied that anyone had called me "live" the day before, and said she was the only one in the office at that time and she denied making any call to me. We were eventually seated at a nice table after a 20 minute wait, but the woman's sour attitude, which was so completely out of character for Barolo (with perhaps 7-8 previous visits), made our evening uncomfortable until our superb served arrived. As we left, this same woman was on the phone, taking a reservation or something else, and we were ignored. But the server and the meal were awesome, and we left pleased.
Generally, the service, the wine and the food were excellent. However, the Creme Brûlée had an overwhelming smoky flavor that took away from the loveliness of the dish itself. When we mentioned this to our waitress, she was not at all interested in the feedback.
Barolo Grill never disappoints. For real, authentic food from Piedmont. And the wine list, so many options, affordable and more pricey so you aren’t boxed into only expensive Barolo’s. After so many years and so much competition, we still comeback for the “real” flavours. Thank you!
We have enjoyed Barolo Grille for decades and have never been disappointed in any manner. From the valet to hostess to Katie and Steven in the bar and into the dining room with white table cloth service and most importantly the authentic Italian cuisine you will savor the symphony of fine dine that Ryan, the owner, has put together. We visit often and will continue to do so..Truly 5 star dining in Denver.
We had a delightful experience last week at Barolo Grill, just as we have had on previous visits. The service was attentive and always well-timed, the ambience was delightful, and the food was superb. We greatly enjoyed the appetizers - Vitello tonnato and Fritto misto. I had the Bistecca al barolo - grilled beef tenderloin, potato pavé, mushrooms, turnips. It was excellent! My daughter had the Maiale ripieno - the stuffed pork tenderloin - and said it was the best she'd ever tasted. This meal was so delicious that words fail to do it justice. Barolo Grill is simply the best restaurant in Denver.
The meal was FANTASTIC as always! The restaurant was full and very busy, but Spencer our server did an EXCELLENT job of keeping ALL of the components of our WONDERFUL night out very smooth and seamless. The TEAMWORK of the entire staff is a WORK of ART! Our friend Esther came by for short visit on a very busy night which we soooo much appreciated!
We HIGHLY RECOMMEND Barolo Grill - a TRUE GEM!!
Our waitress was amazing! The wine stewardess was VERY knowledgeable on the variety of wines they offered and was able to help us find the perfect bottles for our dinner. The food was superb and the atmosphere was lovely! Great spot for a date or special occasion.
DISAPPOINTING! We were celebrating a birthday, which I mentioned several times & spoke to the restaurant about, but not a single staff member acknowledged it. As well the staff seemed to be having an off night including rude hostesses. Didn’t seem to care if we were there or not, continually put dishes in front of the wrong person with no interest in fixing it, never asked how any of the food was, never asked if we wanted more drinks, spilled water/ice on the plates with no apologies or cleanup. Served cold coffee to half the group, forgot the other half. The food was mediocre at best, ordered several different dishes but nothing outstanding or that tasty. Wine glasses removed with wine still in them - before the meal was complete. We have dined here for years and always look forward to it but after tonight’s experience I have no desire to go back. Although it is a busy time of year with the holidays, a restaurant of this caliber should live up to its reputation and name.
We chose Barolo to celebrate our Anniversary and enjoyed the chefs tasting menu with its respective wine pairing. The experience was a little better than perfect, as usual. Ryan and his staff (Spencer and Seth) were fabulous. We frequent this establishment for good reason.
Our anniversary occurs near the Christmas holiday which naturally always makes for a more crowded restaurant each year. This year is no exception but the Barolo is almost always crowded. And they should be. 25 years now (happy to have been going most of them) and it's better each year. From the breadsticks (love them) to the last bite and with, perhaps, the best wine list for Italian wines outside of Rome (and even there I'm not positive), it is a magnificent memorable experience with impeccable service that is every bit as great as the food and overall enjoyment. And yes, we do go more often than once a year!
Celebrated my husband and son-in-law's birthday last weekend. S-I-L is vegetarian. The four of us all enjoyed what we ordered. Everything prepared with care.
Abby was our server. She made recommendations to S-I-L--which he readily accepted and enjoyed! Abby knows the menu well. She is an engaging person/server.
We were at the first seating of the evening--our choice. The place was full. Everyone around us seemed to be enjoying their evening as much as we were!
Thanks for the fun evening and wonderful meal.
