Barnstormer Brewing Company Ratings and Reviews
We visited Barnstormers from out of town while staying at a resort about 30 minutes away. The food was decent and the beer was good, but our dining experience wasn't the best. The whole meal we felt rushed although it was a Monday evening around 7pm and the place was not full. Our salads and soup arrived in a timely manner but before half of the table was finished eating the appetizers the main course was delivered to the table. We were in and out of the place within an hour and barely had time to finish one beer each. I would recommend re-examining delivery timing to allow for a more relaxed meal by your patrons.
The theming was great. We ordered the skirt steak which was good (not overly warm), but fries were excellent. However I was a little put off by the fact that they pile the fries on top of an aioli. I don't like aioli, so I wish they would have mentioned that. I wouldn't have had to waste half of my fries.
We went here twice during Barrielicious and had 3 courses for $25. The food was great, my husband had the burger and I had the pulled pork. The burger was cooked perfectly and the buns were so fresh. The brownie they had for dessert with the beer caramel sauce was to die for. This is a craft brewery and they have many choices of beer available. My husband had a pint of True North Beer and the 400. His favorite so far is the 400. Great atmosphere, I love the upcycling of the plane parts and the bowling alley tables. This is a great bar/restaurant.
The setting for Barnstormer is not excellent a strip mall, with no view to speak of. However to their credit that have made the trip worthwhile, with excellent food, great craft beer created on site, good ambience inside and an interesting menu. Helped that our waitress was perfect, just enough - not too much. Also they have a retail store for beer and paraphernalia purchases. We had the Cat III Whiteout pizza. It was absolutely excellent. Don't let "white" throw you off, it is not a yucky cream sauce all over the top, you need to try this "pie", trust me!! We had the flight of home brews, they were all great. We bought some off the 400 (Hwy) and Watermelon ale. We will be back hoping to try other food items, but I can imagine going back to the Cat III it was that good!!
Always enjoy going to Barnstormer - it's close to work so we've been going there since the first week it opened - the first class fries & the white out pizza are awesome! This visit was for my birthday & we had great food in a good atmosphere. Will be back again soon!
I'm reluctant to leave a bad review as we are frequent patrons of Barnstormers and with the exception of our last visit have always had a positive experience enjoying the service, food and atmosphere. However, on this visit the customer service left a lot to be desired. We made our reservations two days prior and when we arrived another couple was just ahead of us and although they did not have reservations, they were seated in the general dining room while we were directed to a back booth, facing the kitchen, close to the restrooms and in front of a booth that was being used by staff to cash out. While sitting there waiting to be served we were privy to staff conversing with each other, commenting on the patrons (VERY unprofessional), noisily counting their change and generally discussing their shift with coworkers. There seemed to be NO regard whatsoever for that fact that paying guests were seated within immediate earshot. Food and beverages were excellent as always. We were looking forward to a evening out at one of our favorite local eateries but the experience was definitely overshadowed by the lack of customer service and professionalism displayed by some staff.
Even though I had made a reservation very far in advance, we were made to wait 45 for our table. My mother who was with us, is 79 and standing in the lobby was very uncomfortable for her. The food was average. The waitress never returned to our table with change from a $20 to pay for a $7.50 drink. The live music was very good but too loud for the small space. Perhaps this is the best that Barrie has to offer, but I was very disappointed. This was a birthday celebration so next year we will look elsewhere.
Went for lunch with my daughter.. we were on a time frame and in and out within an hour at lunch time and not rushed.
Food fabulous and I can't wait to go back. Had small gluten free pizza and ate it all ..was delicious . A small could easily feed two adults...
Love the atmosphere, décor.. selection and friendly staff.
Definitely on my " go again list.
This was one of the Saints and Sinners tour and I unfortunately didn't get here during the tour but made a point of going next time in Barrie. Worth the trip!
Courtney was great. I recommend the pizza and the 400 beer. Would like to try flights next time. Also, don't forget to look at the pictures and the aircraft assembly (on ceiling) and equipment on the short walls.
I was very disappointed that the wine was so overpriced. I went to the restaurant with my husband and son. Both of them are beer fans and enjoyed trying the different brews. I don't care for beer and I cannot justify paying $10 for a glass of wine. I don't understand why restaurants charge so much for wine. I buy a variety of wine at the liquor store and I can get a nice bottle for $15. Buy cheaper wine and charge less. I enjoy having a drink with my dinner and sadly next time I would let the boys go to Barnstormers on their own. It is too bad as the food was great and it had a fun atmosphere.
My wife and I had dinner this week and enjoyed the pizza and Caesar salad that we ordered. Everything was fresh and tasted great. The selection of craft beer is extensive and the Blonde Ale that I ordered was very good. Looking forward to returning shortly. As a bonus to our visit I purchased some cans of beer to enjoy at home. Great experience.
Barnstormer Brewing Company will be our new "go-to" place for gatherings of friends and family. The food was absolutely delicious!! The atmosphere is fun, with aircraft memorabilia throughout. The service was fast, friendly and accommodating.
But the beer.....there is not enough space to say all I have to about this phenomenal craft brewery. My friend and I each had a flight and it was difficult to decide which was our favourite. Each beer was unique, flavourful, complex and clean tasting. I am happy that select brews are available at the beer store and some LCBO's, but I will make the trek for a good sampling!
We finished our lunch with a tour conducted by the knowledgeable Graham, who was patient with our many questions. Do book a tour!!! And don't forget to order beer battered dill pickles to go with your first round.
A real gem!!!
The food was good but it had a couple of miscues that didn't ruin the occasion just would have made it great instead of just very good.
Awesome variety of beers and they offer a sampler that gets you five different beers of your choice or they will surprise you if you prefer.
Server recommended the pizza and maybe we should have taken her suggestion but overall a good outing and loud visit with friends.
We will go back.
