It has a good menu with considerable variety for brunch/lunch. The server was pleasant and efficient. The decor is interesting and the lit candles are a nice touch.

I went there on Valentine’s Day at 7:30pm and the food and atmosphere was great. Very fast service, possibly a little too fast as we were out of there by 8:10. The desert was the highlight for sure. My only criticism is that I would have loved to see more vegetarian or vegan options on the menu but overall I was very impressed. The bill was $200 dollars including tip and without drinks so it wasn’t that cheap but for a special occasion it was a nice treat.

We had a good dinner! Service was good. Food was good. Ambience was good. You know those places that tell you all the parts of the dish when they drop the plate? They don’t do that here but the price is the same as those places. But timing was good and no mistakes and courteous staff. Octopus was 5 stars!

My girlfriends and I came to Barnsteiner's for Winterlicious and we really enjoyed it! Our meals were delicious and Andre (our server) was wonderful and very friendly. My beet salad was lovely and I loved my crusted pan fried haddock which was moist and delicious. Both dishes were beautifully presented. Our bottle of Kim Crawford, Sauvignon Blanc was a perfect pairing as well! I will certainly be going back!

A great spot for Winterlicious lunch! The menu featured ample variety of choices and the execution was top notch both in food taste and presentation. The ambiance was airy and bright. Overall a memorable first visit to Barnsteiners. Looking forward to future visits to this midtown gem.

We went on a busy night and found the food and service to be very good. It was also nice to be able to hold a conversation without yelling across the table and forever asking each other to repeat ourselves.

We had been looking forward to our winterlicious experience but were unfortunately most disappointed. The brussel sprout caesar was heavier on romaine than endive (hardly any of the latter unfortunately) but tasty enough. The apple and bread pudding was a lacklustre pile of dices apples with clumps of sugar, the sorbet offered as mango OR raspberry was a mixture of both. As for the mains, my sea bass was quite delicious, my friend's "strip sirloin" was more akin to slices of roast beef. When inquiring about the latter, our server said the chef defended his description (to other patrons who has also been misguided) as the menu stated "whole" strip loin... should have been explained when we were ordering, but he seemed disinclined to provide anything but disinterested service. Overall a disappointing experience and we will not be returning.

The restaurant was indeed energetic but it was lunch hour and very busy. Each course came quickly. The food was delicious and well presented. The pork loin with vegetables was plentiful with 4 pieces of meat and a very good gravy. My friend had the halibut. It was perfectly cooked...moist and tender. The broccoli and cheese soup was spiced just right and served very hot. We will certainly be coming back to try more dishes.

We had reservations and the hostess was very rude when we asked to be moved to a table from the communal table. Food was good, but we both left quite hungry.

Our second visit at Barnsteiner’s and we were greeted warmly by Michelle and her amazing team. We loved the selection of their WINTERLICIOUS menu. Everything was so delicious and presented in a very artful way.
We like to go early around 5:30 pm and it is wonderful to linger through your incredible dining experience.
Superb service ...thanks Donavan and the staff for making this another memorable evening
We look forward to returning.

Food was excellent. The charred octopus was tender and well seasoned. My sea bass was perfectly cooked and tasty. My only complaint is the tables were too closely spaced. I felt crammed in.

Often meet friends here for lunch. The food is usually good but for Winterlicous it was exceptional. I started with mushroom soup which was delicious and because it was without dairy products it wasn’t too filling. My main course was fish cooked to perfection and for desert a cloud of lemon piled on pastry was the perfect ending. The only negative was the women at the next table who were very loud.
The service at Barnsteiners is always very good and the waiters are always friendly and professional.

Enjoyed the quality of the food. Main course was a little small in size. Restaurant was busy and service was pleasant but not great. Too much flagging down of server instead of him being proactive.

I had a nice lunch with my guest at Barnsteiners. The only issue we had was our server was very slow- even with it not being busy at the time of us being there. We had to wait almost 25 min for our order to be taken and we waited around 30 min to pay for the bill. After the server still did not come we had to call him over to ask for the machine to pay- even after the server passed our table many times and saw we were ready to leave. For a simple lunch that should have been about an hour we were there for a total of 3 hrs bc of the slow service. I would not recommend to a friend as my guest and I were very disappointed in the quality of the service and our tip for the server reflected this.

Barnsteiners is always an excellent experience and I am so glad it is only a few steps away Food is consistently excellent and Michelle is a kind and gracious host tries to accommodate all needs. The ambience is eclectic and attractive, as well as spacious. The chef has a nice variety on the menu-something for every taste and everything done excellently. There is also a good value happy hour.

I really like the food. Unfortunately my husband and I had a table for the second time in a corridor close to the washroom . This is a narrow corridor for small tables. It is not comfortable and the service is poor on this area.

Pleasantly surprised, food was really great and service was quite good despite it being very busy. Table by the door wasn't ideal since people waiting for a table are milling around you, but otherwise a very pleasant dining experience and would definitely come back.

If we hadn’t been to this restaurant before we wouldn’t want to return based on this past experience! The food was not up to par, the initial greeting was very rushed. The winterkicious advertising was a little misleading , as the regular , a la Carre menu was not offered ! Our waiter was great & that saved the night!!

I was advised that Happy Hour was not available to me because I was there for Winterlicious?

The appetizer was the best course of the meal. I had the best salad with goat cheese & nuts. It was very tasty!

For the main course, I ordered bass however I got trout on broccoli & runny sweet potato. It was dark so I guess they thought I couldn't tell. I ate the fish , left the rest as not very appetizing. I didnt want to be picky however not what I ordered.

The dessert was described as a warm hazelnut chocolate crunch cake. It was crunchy alright. That's about it.

Starters and main are excellent here. We’ve had quite a few of the dishes on the menu at this point and they are all excellent. Pastry chef is not as talented though and desserts sound fabulous but rarely live up to expectations. Service is good, professional but a bit snooty. Overall, we love the food, it is also on the pricey end for what it is.
