It’s hard to describe the Barndiva experience. And a web site is no substitution for being able to sit back and enjoy the beauty of an extraordinary space, the taste of a perfect cocktail, or the satisfaction that comes from a meal that hits all the right notes in you.
Barndiva is a celebration of all things local. Our food is sourced from farmers, ranchers and small batch purveyors who live and work in the magnificent food shed surrounding us.
Food is our passion. In everything we do, it all starts there. Thanks for visiting.
I'm typically pretty easy to please and was super excited for my rez based on recommendations but was severely disappointed. We ordered the hamachi and croquettes for app, my wife had filet mignon and I had the mushroom pasta. appetizers were good, but not great and not great value - nothing special about them particularly the Hamachi. Price way too high for what they were. Filet was very good, but pasta was bland, almost flavorless. They did comp it when I chose not to finish the last 3/4 of the dish so did appreciate that. Also, oddly, they wanted to charge $3 for olive oil I asked for to go with focaccia. They did serve butter but honestly $3 for olive oil blew me away. In fact, I would not have thought to write a review despite the food being mediocre if they hadn't wanted to charge me for olive oil. Anyway, unfortunately I won't be back but others rave about Barn Diva and I'd hate to turn any one off of any restaurant. It is beautifully decorated and great ambiance - a shame the food didn't live up to the hype.
We had a party of 5 for lunch during a wine tasting trip to Healdsburg. The food was excellent. The wine list was very extensive. The atmosphere was very lively. Overall a great experience.
We have been traveling to Healdsburg very October for nearly twelve years to buy our wine for the year. Each visit we make Barndiva a dining priority. This visit will be our last. Previously known for a great dining experience with exceptional entrees, our last two visits have seriously underwhelmed. Our most recent visit - this past Wednesday night - shows there is no longer the attention to quality in the items leaving the kitchen. Being sold out of the halibut, I ordered the filet mignon cooked to medium. What I got was something much closer to rare. When the server was alerted she responded with “that’s our medium.” I asked how that could be when there are standard expectations when ordering medium and a still mooing cow is not it! My husband ordered the duck leg. The skin was supposed to be ‘crisp’, it was so overdone e that the skin was inedible. When removed, it could be tapped on the table like wood. This was also brought to the attention of the server and we received this response, “If you want I can take it back to the kitchen, but a replacement order is going to be the same preparation.” WTF? Seriously? The couple adjacent to us ordered the fall squash with lamb bacon first course and sent it back because it wasn’t as represented, there was no ‘bacon’, it was lamb belly with so much raw fat it could not be chewed. Another complaint, if you change your menu I. The restaurant based on the season - update your website at the SAME time. The menu we received had been out for nearly a month according to the server, the one on the website was the ‘summer’ menu per the server. You need to get back to your origins. Until then, we are done with Barndiva. 😕
I had been there a few times and my friends and I were completely underwhelmed. We are all foodies from Philadelphia and NY and the halibut was not cooked well and my friend said she thought it came out of the freezer. The accompaniments we good. My other friend liked her salmon a lot but the accompaniments were blah. I had duck. I love duck but the description did not lead me to believe it was in a stew like fashion and it was heavy and salty. The duck was tasteless because it was over taken by the bean stew.
My friend had a salad and that was good.
The burrata app was super delicious.
Sorry for the bad review because the service was wonderful and we tipped over 20%. The food was below my standards of eating out.
The wine list was incredible and the wine director very helpful but they seemed to forget about us quite a bit. When they came to our table they were very friendly and helpful. The food was very tasty but it seemed like they were trying to do too much with some of the dishes. Our “roasted squash” starter came with large chunks of what they called “lamb bacon” which was more like braised lamb belly, sliced apples, pomegranate seeds, fried kale leaves, apple purée, balsamic drizzle and “quinoa granola.” The effect was overwhelming, like a tie-dye of flavors instead of harmony.
Great atmosphere and service. Food was pleasantly solid but nothing to write home about. Skip dessert - not much there and ours was a doughy tasteless Apple pie
Very cool vibe for upscale casual dining. Excellent menu creations, creatively prepared and presented. A Healdsburg gem.
The experience wasn’t highly memorable. A lot of waiting around and the food was average for the cost.
We were seated in the outdoor area which is one of our favorite places to dine. The food definitely was excellent as was the service. I can highly recommend Bardiva as a destination and special occasion dining.
We loved everything but the Hamachi appetizer could use some attention.
We were served 2 glasses of champagne in honor of our anniversary.
This place used to be wonderful but has gone down hill. We had a very mediocre, over-priced meal on Saturday night. We were given the wrong menus, placed our order, then 10-15 minutes later, the server came back out and said we were given the wrong menus and the entrees we ordered were not available. He brought new, shorter menus and we had a hard time finding food we wanted to eat. The food was slow to arrive, very pricey, and mediocre. Typically when a restaurant makes a mistake such as bringing the wrong menus and asking you to re-order, in a service-oriented business, you would think there would be a make-good of some sort. There was not, and we will not be back.
coming in from the South Bay we had high hopes from the reviews and the images online. I grabbed one of the only two reservations available. We walked in to a nice, though out dated, nearly empty room playing 80’s disco music... hmmmm
Even though there were many open tables, most of them unclean, we were seated right next to the only other couple in the room. Not that big of a deal except we were seated side by side facing the them, while they chowed down . I intended to ask our waitress for another table and I did after tracking her down in the other room 7 minutes later.
The menu made it easy to choose our entree. And my wife ordered a nice Chardonnay.
Let’s cut to the chase. The wine was warm, the food, salmon and a duck leg, were served to us within 5 minutes. How could they get that out sooo fast? Because all they did was heat it up and send it out.
And that’s how it tasted. I didn’t complain, I wasn’t even going to leave this review, but when the email popped up asking me to spread the word ? Well here’s the word “DONT”.
Oh I almost forgot this telling sign. We were seated next to the bar. The bar tenders were intertwining, which was a bright spot until we saw one, after shaking up a drink, taste it out of the shaker and then from the same shaker poor it to be served. WTF?
I give high praise to our female bus person. She was efficient and professional and seemingly the only one still on the clock.
Bad night for them? Or just bad luck for us? Either way it was a $200 mistake.
Excellent food, service and drinks!
Good food and good service but seating at the back lacked atmosphere.
Lovely outdoor patios, cool bar, great food.
Just fantastic food and service. Highly recommended.
We try something different everytime and always delicious. Indoors - great! Outdoors - Awesome! Coffee - all types! Cocktails - Yes!! Can't miss this one!
Loved sitting outside at Barndiva. Very beautiful and romantic. My burger and my husband’s short rib sandwich were delicious. The only negative was the iced tea. My husband ordered iced tea but received an iced tea flavored with fresh fruit juice. He did not drink it - I thought it was wonderful. I think our server should have told us about the change or it should have stated so on the menu. Other than that we thought it was perfect.
Everything excellent but could have less noise. Music only adds to the noise
I did not give five stars for food because the duck confit was very good, but it used to be crispy.
Lovely lunch. Good service, delicious food. One of the best hamburgers ever.
We were seated in the bar area for our 6:15 reservation, very early for boisterous noise in the bar. Yet a large group came in and overwhelmed the area with loud talking and laughing before they were seated for more than 30 minutes, all during which we were trying to have a conversation over dinner. Mushroom pasta was not very flavorful but other meals were colorful and delicious.
21st wedding anniversary.
I could not have been more impressed with the food and service.
I kept saying to my husband “that is the best appetizer I ever had” then it was “that is the best salad I ever had “ to “that was the best entree I ever had and doesn’t it pair nicely with the wine”
Amazing amazing experience.
I had reserved a table 2 days in advanceon Open Table for a Thursday 5:30 reservation. Staff were ALL outstanding, courteous and did a great job. Drinks were good...Did not drink wine but they have an extensive list. Sat out back on patio and it was most charming and intimate setting. I ordered tenderloin of pork and asked to substitute brocolli for corn and it was so. No up charges no big discussions. Partner ordered duck and was delighted with the meal. I had requested a chocolate something for celebration of birthday and they did a good job with no reminders. I am local but this was my first tme at Barn Diva, I shall return to eat and more often for the bar as I loved my cosmo! Try Barn Diva!
This is our 1st time visiting Barn Diva. The service was excellent! The food is amazing! Don’t leave Healdsburg without visiting!
Great drinks. Goat cheese balls a must! Delish salmon main. Super service.
Loved lunch at BarnDiva, looking forward to dinner sometime soon. From the iced tea (wonderful blend full of flavor), goat cheese croquette with honey and lavender, to chicken salad with some of the best chicken we had tasted, it was a delightful experience. Our waitress was attentive without being overbearing. Recommend to all1
Had Sunday brunch here, and it was such a peaceful, beautiful setting. Service and food were very good. Only recommendation is to lighten the bread selection for the eggs benedict. I had a big challenge cutting through the bread to actually be able to eat the dish. Finally gave up on the bread altogether and enjoyed the yummy meat and egg and sauce all by themselves! Ate outdoors under the trees and enjoyed every minute.... Fun, creative drinks along with a great wine list, of course!! Would highly recommend....
Food was very bland. Drinks were okay at best. For the price, this place under deliver.
Seemed rushed and super busy. Superb food and overall expensive ... never was asked for another drink and seemed they were in a hurry to turn the tables.
Our first visit to Barndiva- the outdoor patio is done beautifully we found the menu offered few choices the food was prepared well but is a bit pricey for what you get. The wine list was very extensive but offered few choices under $75/bottle.
Amazing ambience, food and service for a special friend’s birthday. Loved it!
Fantastic spot in downtown Healdsburg. Two couples celebrating a wine country weekend went to BarnDiva on first night. Food is great, but the setting is the stunning part. We had a chamber of commerce night and sat on patio, underneath interlocking trees with string lights, while a fountain flowed in the background. Great atmosphere, attentive servers, fun dishes (we particularly liked the burrata appetizer and lamb bacon appetizer).
Amazing spot in Healdsburg. Outside garden dining amazing. Great cocktails and interesting wine list. Everything on the menu is delicious. Must start with the croquettes! Have been a customer for many years, always a fantastic experience. Team there also wonderful - friendly, helpful, attentive, professional. Love it!
Sat outside and had a wonderful meal with friends. It was a perfect start to our weekend. Get the goat cheese croquettes but make sure you don't let your friends take more than their fair share.
Our waiter - & I can’t remember his name - was stellar! We had a double birthday lunch for four on Thursday, 9/12/19 @ Noon & were seated by the south wall in the lovely garden. Everything was perfect & our waiter made it very special! If you know who it was, please let him know how special he was. Thank you! *lynn chevalier
Great ambiance-we sat outside overlooking the main outdoor seating area under the trees. The food was wonderful, service very attentive. They were especially accomodating to my mom, who uses a walker.
Best meal of our vacation! Food was incredible, from the focaccia bread to the entrees to dessert. Great service, would certainly return!
