My 2nd time at Barndiva. My friend and I planned a quick overnight trip to Healdsburg for some winetasting and indulgence, and Barndiva was our first and only choice for dinner based on great past experiences for both of us.

The cocktails were perfect - the bartender achieved a flawless rendition of a somewhat obscure retro cocktail my friend requested, involving Creme de Violette. The salad was beautifully decorated with fresh violas and perfectly dressed. The duck confit, which both of us had to have, melted in our mouths and was rich and delectable. Dessert was fun, especially the gigantic and similarly melt-in-the-mouth hazelnut macaron with a divine chocolate cream filling. The black bottom (pie?) was a little tough to cut with a fork but delicious.

The only complaint was the service. We first opted to sit outside, which would have been lovely on a warmer evening - and waited an out-of-control long time for ANY attention. No bread, no water, no cocktail order, no Sorry for the wait we'll be right with you....For the prices being charged, this was way not okay - and it really put a damper on our enthusiasm for the rest of the evening. Once inside, the service was fine - not amazing, but considering our server had only been onboard about a week, we could live with a few bumps. But the concern is that Barndiva is getting nonchalant and taking their customers for granted - they really need to pay attention to the service, or people may think twice about paying 5-star restaurant prices despite all the wonderful things about Barndiva.

Absolutely wonderful. Food voices were all fresh and creative—beet salad and tuna appetizers. Halibut was outstanding. Dined outside and was great. Last year in the Studio (stuck there) and hated it. Lousy ambiance. But this experience was really fantastic. Thanks. Never the Studio again however. even the wait staff calls it the “B Team .”

The setting in the garden is special. Lit attractively with good distance between the tables allowing conversation with adjoining table should you care to but privacy if not. Smart attractive setting. However good this is, the service is a bit rushed and unfocused. The food is the true deficit in an otherwise promising place. We chis to share plates and had the fries as a start to nibble with drinks followed by beet salad and dunnges crab salad. The fries were interesting presentation in an iron pot and cut full potato slices but were cold, old and limp. The salads had nice presentation and were good and serviceable if unexciting. The steak we had as a main was under done and accompanied by an potato cold at the center that was heavily dressed with little benefit. Desert was the “macaroooon” a sweet well presented uninteresting mess.

With so much good interesting food near by and the great setting, finding a kitchen to match will be a big plus.

With all the fantastic reviews and article write up I was so excited to have dinner here. It must have been an off night for them, I found the food average and the service was off that night (waited a while to take our drink order, one waiter was offended I even tried to speak to him instead of my own server since she disappeared) and they missed one of our items we ordered. The waitress didn't seemed to think it was an issue. So lackluster compared with all the hype. So many other fantastic places to dine in Healdsburg and nearby...

I had their hamburger which is one of their best on the menu. My partner had the heirloom tomato BLT sandwich which was also good but a bit light on bacon. The service was attentive. I would highly recommend this place for anyone visiting the wine country.

Wow, we were impressed from the moment we walked in. The hostess was great, acknowledged our anniversary and offered us a table in the garden. The ambience was great. We enjoyed two glasses of bubbly and then ordered our food. We loved the beet salad -- excellent flavors and presentation. We tried the egg ravioli and found that really good. We paired the foods with a Comstock Viognier - which was excellent as well. Our choice was to sample the smaller plates and we loved every one. The waitress was knowledgable and super friendly. We've made another reservation for a couple of weeks from now. This is becoming our favorite Healdsburg spot.

We had excellent service. Our drink orders were running behind and our server gave us a complimentary serving of their frites which were quite unique - delicious. When the cocktails did arrive they were excellent. Our food was very good, the issue we had was their bottle wine list had a very limited amount of wines that were around $100. Most we could see were 250+ however I n other high end restaurants in Healdsburg we did not find a problem with medium priced bottles.

I think you need to add additional menu items. While the food is delicious, the menu is always the same. My husband and I come to Barn Diva once a week, and the lunch selections never vary.

Please consider changing out or adding to what you currently serve.

Thank you.

Very nice restaurant, good food! It was quite expensive though, not sure if it was totally worth it. And there was something wrong with the dessert, it tasted like chives/garlic.

Four of us went on a Wednesday night (6 pm). It wasn’t very crowded, but service was very slow. We sat outside in a lovely outdoor setting. The beet salad was beautiful to look at and delicious. The quail salad was very good, but we forgot about the small bones in quail; had to be careful. The halibut over cous cous was excellent. The filet mignon was a disappointment. I asked for med rare and it came med raw. Having to send it back resulted in it being a tad overcooked. Dessert was good and beautifully crafted. The wine was great. Overall, a nice experience.

This is the second time we have dined here. After having a bad experience the first time a year ago we went back because of the terrific reviews. Unfortunately, our bad experience was replicated. Yes, the ambience is beautiful. And the food could be good, if you could get your hands on it—cooked and in a timely fashion. Unfortunately, the service continues to suffer to the degree where there are long absences of any attention (or food) and this time, as last, the main entrees come out several minutes apart. This time, as last time, one of the entrees (mine) was virtually frozen it was so cold. We sent it back to be recooked but then waited another 20 minutes for it to return. Meanwhile my husband had finished his meal. It’s tough to garner the attention of anyone should you need something. Overall, very disappointing. There are some amazing restaurants in Healdsburg—try some others!

We loved the service ! It was our friends 51st anniversary and our 50th. We were surprised with a glass of champagne to start our dinner. Our only comment would be that the main part of the entrees were not exceptional. I had halibut - overcooked and a bit fishy and the rack of lamb was an older lamb as the chops were very large and a bit fatty. The plating, vegetables and the rest was beautiful. When we come again, we are going to order all the sides - tasty and gorgeous. Thank you for the great service

Everything about Barndiva was excellent! The service was outstanding, the food was beautifully designed and amazingly delicious and the restaurant is beautiful! We shared the egg ravioli to start, accompanied by a glass of Shramsburg rose bubbly. Though there was only one ravioli it was enough to share. The flavor and textures of the egg yolk, bacon and herbs was so delicious! I had the ratatouille chicken entry. I wasn't clear if it was ratatouille with chicken in it...but the waiter clarified the preparation perfectly. The ratatouille was actually thinly sliced zucinni, eggplant and tomato in a pastry crust with a leg and thigh of chicken. I normally don't order chicken at restaurants but this was outstanding. I love dark meat chicken and the skin was crisp and chicken moist and full of flavor. The only problem at the end was that there was no room left for desert. I have friends who live Windsor, near Healdsburg and I have been to Barndiva on two occasions when visiting.

We've been there a bunch of times in the past year and the food is average to excellent but pricey. The wine list is good but the prices are definitely on the high side.

Why we won't be going back is (again) the bill comes with suggested amounts for tipping - AND the amounts include TIPPING on TAXES!!! This is never okay.

I've pointed it out last visit, and now a few months later, they are still doing this. How is this not cheating less-savvy customers? We'll only patronize restaurants in Healdsburg that don't do this, like Dry Creek Kitchen, Spoonbar, Mateo's, Willi's Seafood and Brava's.

Great find on our Sonoma vacation. Saw this restaurant on several lists of dining recommendations and Barndiva did not disappoint. It was nice to be able to have a cocktail after wine tasting and their creations were inventive. Service was excellent - friendly without being intrusive, knowledgeable without being pretentious and had a good sense of humor. The food was fabulous. The beet salad was the most beautiful salad I have ever eaten with a rainbow of beets, radishes, baby carrots, mini lettuces, goat cheese and garnished with flowers. Do not miss the egg yolk ravioli with bacon fat dressing - heavenly! My husband had the salmon and claimed it was the best salmon he had ever eaten (and he orders it a lot). My filet mignon was flavorful and cooked to perfection. The "loaded baked potato" was a tender chuck of potato with an onion marmalade and bacon bits -fabulous!. Portions are generous. All dishes are plated beautifully and are as pleasing to the eye as they are to the palate.

Also, the cocktails/drinks are so refreshing. Perfect place for a meal with anyone!
