Went for Restaurant Week but beforehand I'd decided date would be doing the special and I'd go off the regular menu. Done this before in the past at other restaurants. Server presented the menus and specifically said without prompting that it was per table either one or the other. I asked why and got a nothing burger answer. I wonder if it is portion size they're afraid of exposing or what?
Other than the above we enjoyed our meals but had to basically have identical dishes so sharing which we usually always do was not in the cards that night.
The food was wonderful and perfectly cooked. The crusted chicken was tender and juicy and the cauliflower soup was creamy and delicious. The service was wonderful. The dessert could have been better it was a little dry.
Beautiful place. Excellent service. Food was very good. Overall, way to pricey for other than a special occasion restaurant, which is unfortunate. We'll go back for drink and lighter food next door.
Great meal as always. Seated near bar which was a little noisier than usual, but service and food exemplary.
Service was slow and felt like other tables around us getting more attention then us. We were served our appetizer way before our cocktails. He openned the bottle of wine before ordering our dinner, no glasses on the table and it was a Pinot, did not need to breathe. Was overall disappointed. Several times the server made inappropriate comments and was rude.
Healdsburg is well known for its excellent array of restaurants, and we have been to almost all of them. Barndiva is at the top of the list - the best amongst the best.
Lovely spot for a nice dinner. I really enjoyed the food. I’m looking forward to trying out their Sunday dinners next door.
Usually phenomenal, something was off tonight. They ran out of califlower soup and substituted with a beet salad which was just ok. The risotto was cold and I literally had three grean beans. A big disappointment overall.
service was ridiculously slow; kitchen made main course substation without notifying us!!
It was Sonoma restaurant week yet instead of being prepared , the restaurant ran out of the sole entree and without consulting with the diners, chose to substitutes salmon? Salmon does not substitute for sole! Two completely different flavor profiles! Extremely disappointed!!!
My boyfriend and I went here for restaurant week . Absolutely loved the restaurant. The food was amazing! But... we sat next to a table who ordered from the regular menu and the restaurant week menu portions were much smaller. Went to a lot of restaurants for restaurant week in the past (Napa and Sonoma) and only one or two did this out of all of them. I think if you are going to participate in restaurant week, you shouldn't skimp on your local patrons. These restaurant weeks are designed during low tourist season and to get locals out more to keep these places busy. These restaurants should understand that they may be making their first impression on a local customer that will continue to come back as long as that first impression went well. Restaurants and staff should not assume restaurant week patrons are cheap or do not go out to eat much. We are foodies and we like to use these weeks to test out a few places we have heard about but haven't gone yet. If you're not a fan of restaurant week, just do not participate.
The drinks were very carefully made and tasty. The service was friendly, prompt and efficient. It was conducted in relaxed manner. The cauliflower soup was outstanding. The bread had very good texture and flavor. The main course chicken was very good -cooked but moist. The dessert was small but very flavorful- A rich chocolate with a very nice vanilla gelato and berries. The French press coffee was full flavored and good.
The restaurant advertises as being vegetarian friendly but on this day (1:00 on a Sunday) there was only French toast available. A friend asked for an omelette without the caviar. They said "of course" and then served it without caviar but WITH BACON! Also there was no really light course on the menu such as a salad.
Also, why do restaurants think they have perfect seasoning ability and put no salt or pepper on the table. So we asked for it. Came in tiny bowllike containers. Pepper was 1/4 full, and the small spoon had obviously been used by prior patrons.
What is not to like about Barndiva? Chef always knows how to please. Sunday brunch always a treat here.
Went to Barndiva during Sonoma County Rrstaurant week and it was a perfect choice. Enjoyed each course although didnleave hungry. Portions were very small, but delightful.
Everything here was top notch...from the moment we walked in...to the moment we walked out. Service, food, ambiance was on point! After dinner we decided to have a drink at the bar. Service here was just as stellar.
A birthday celebration for my wife, Great food, Great drinks, Great service.
Really enjoyed everything
Food was great!
Loved the food. We had Duck confit and the filet mignon (done perfectly) & w/ cauliflower soup and butter lettuce salad. Everything was impeccable. The waiter & staff was fantastic. Our new favorite place. Yummy dessert selection too!
The restaurant was very nice. The food was great, the waitstaff was attentive, knowledgeable and friendly. My wife and I will definitely visit this restaurant again.
The food here might be the best in Healdsburg. The potions are not huge, but we always feel satisfied. The flavors and presentation are inspired without being overly ambitious. Great place for a date if you want to impress!
This is a unique restaurant with a beautiful Decor. The food is creative, a cocktails are Kraftmaid, and the wine list is extensive.
Great great place to celebrate Valentine’s Day
We went to Barndiva for Valentine's Day and enjoyed the fixed menu for the occasion – the carpaccio and salad appetizers were very good, and the main dishes were also great. The cheesecake dessert was creamy and delicious (that's coming from someone who doesn't usually eat cheesecake). Great service and attention all around. It was our first time there, and I'd always been meaning to check out the garden in the rear, but it was a bit too cold, even to just take a peek. But we'll be back.
This is one of our favorite places. It is a perfect place for a date night or celebrations. The service and food are outstanding. The cocktails and wine list are fabulous. It is a special spot with a lovely dining room and beautiful outdoor area
Lovely!! Overall a great dining experience. Whether you are looking for something casual or a bit elevated, this is the place!
So noisy from all the way across the room (party of four) that it was like they were sitting in our laps. Because of that, we will not be back until the weather warms and we can sit outside!
Lovely dinner. Great service! Friendly environment!!
Not an expansive menu, but the kitchen executes with finesse. We are not red meat eaters, but the roasted chicken and fish entrees were cooked to the perfectly, meaning they were moist and flakey. The bread and salads were outstanding, as well.
Birthday and anniversary
Friendly but slow service. We waited 55 minutes to get our meals after ordering. After we questioned the waitress , they apologized and brought a complimentary appetizer which was appreciated. The salmon and the duck leg confit were very good. Prices seem to be pretty normal for fine dining in Sonoma County. atmosphere is nice with comfortable seating. I do recommend this restaurant for dining in the wonderful city of Healdsburg.
Great food, amazing space, service a bit slow
We love this place and the BEST burger ever. And the server Dave makes it that much better. Love Dave.
amazing atmosphere, food is super fresh and local, everything was prepared to perfection. Staff was great, wine list was great...perfect location for a special night out.
Always enjoy Barndiva - great ambiance and delicious food. Service is top notch. The croquettes are wonderful as was the duck confit. Good selection of hand crafted cocktails.
Wonderful Sunday brunch - best in Healdsburg. The lamb rillette and burger were both amazing and very filling. Generous portions, creatively presented and truly delicious.
The food was not very good at all. Quite disappointing.
In Healdsburg to celebrate my birthday with as much wine and good food as possible. Had dinner at Barndiva on a cold, rainy night. Had a glass of French Sauvignon Blanc to start: excellent! Bartender very capable and friendly. Were given a choice of tables: one in the bar area or one in the dining room next to a part of 18! We chose the bar area! Really appreciated the host giving us the choice. We shared the bibb lettuce salad, which was very generous and just so delicious! Then I had the salmon and my husband had the vegetarian "Wellington," which was more than he could eat so we took it back to the hotel.
Thank you for a lovely dinner and evening experience! We shall be back!
Barndiva is a must for anyone with an interest in fine food created by a Thomas Keller alum served in an exquisitely creative space. Make your reservation and GO!!
