Barlow's Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
This was the worst dinner and drinks I've gotten in a long time. Bad service, took ages to help us and never came back to check on the food...left us to eat a steak with a butter knife. Our drinks tasted terrible, only go for beer or wine which they probably won't be able to mess up. Food was gross. I would NEVER go back here again. It's a real shame because it's a good location and a cool looking place inside. If they just hire some good bartenders and staff that have their act together that would be a great start. A new chef who uses higher quality foods would be good too. Good luck Barlow's, if you don't make some changes you will be out of business before you know it.
Staff was wonderful. Lobster roll was bad. One bite and I was like...put it down now! Lobster shouldn't be sweet. Manager handled it well. Comped the meal, offered us complimentary drinks. 26.00 for the scant amount of lobster was bad enough, come on, we live in New England, it's a bit of a gouge. Also, basement where bathrooms are smelled like a sewer.
Went to Barlow’s for a family gathering, reserved a table for 8. Food and service both top notch. Bar was great, drinks delicious, and the Big Papi pretzel worth waiting for! All diners at our table were impressed and satisfied. It was the day Tom Petty died and Barlow’s played TP songs all night. Loved that.
This was my second time dining here. On the first occasion we had some of the worst service I've ever received and I got double charged on my credit card. I was kindly issued a $30 dining gift card and returned to try again. The second time was subpar as well, as the oysters were not very good and tasted far from fresh, and the overall meal service and lack of a welcoming pleasant dining atmosphere persisted. 0-2.
Tried Barlow's for Sunday brunch and wouldn't repeat. Unfriendly wait staff who seemed to not want to be there. It wasn't busy yet our food took way to long to arrive. I ordered the Korean BBQ beef pizza because I thought it sounded unique. It was uniquely bad. Soupy vegetables and tough chunks of beefed poured on top of a pizza crust. Cold. Yuk.
This spot is perfect if you are catching a flight out of Logan and want a bite on your way. It is about 15 minutes to Logan, yet located in a great Seaport neighborhood area. Really convenient.
We sat outside and the patio was beautiful, overlooking a small park, away from traffic. So very relaxing. High top tables with umbrellas allowed my husband shade and me sun. Our server was outstanding, fast with drinks, helpful with food ideas, very attentive.
We had dinner at Barlow's in the Seaport district recently. There was good parking access nearby, which is always a plus in Boston. The restaurant was clean, and the wait staff very pleasant, helpful, and attentive. Drinks were well made, the wine list was reasonable, and the beer list also quite extensive with good choices. The menu is updated, and the quality of the food very good. They were quite accommodating as we had two young children with special dietary needs. Although we do not go to that area often, I feel it is a good choice for about anyone and I would definitely recommend it.
The best part of Barlow's this past Sunday was the food. There were four of us and we all enjoyed our meals. That being said, there were 2 things that were very off putting about Barlow's this past Sunday. The first was the hostess. She was talking to another staff member when we came in. That's fine, not a problem. But please stop when customers reach the hostess stand. Again, could have gotten past that. But when you do finish your conversation, please greet your customers and perhaps welcome them in. Do not stand there having a staring contest. When she did deign to seat us, she brought us to a regular table, even though I had requested a high-top through open table. When I told her I requested a high-top, she said, Oh, yeah, and trudged us over to one. First impressions matter when there are soooo many dining options in the city.
Second service faux pas, when I ordered a bloody mary, the waiter said, is Tito's ok? Yup, Tito's is fine. He neglected to say that the $9.00 bloody mary did not come with Tito's, that there was a $4.00 up charge for Tito's. As 3 of us ordered 6 bloody mary's over the course of brunch, this was a significant cost increase. Yay, you waiter! You got us! But, at what overall cost? Not really into being flim flammed at brunch. Probably won't recommend or be back. Which is too bad, as the food was really good and we've enjoyed ourselves every single other time we've been here. Which is really the point. We've eaten here and brought different people with us many times. While I'm sure we won't be putting Barlow's out of business going elsewhere, I will be telling many other people my experience. It's hospitality, not flim flam I'm looking for. Train your staff or I won't be the only person writing you off my list.
My friends and I met up for dinner after attending Pax East. The food wad good and the staff was very accommodating to putting our tables next to each other.
They even accommodated my kids by making a regular cheese pizza.
When planning our next trip to Boston, I plan on coming back to Barlow's to try some other their other menu items.
Friendly staff. Food was terrible. 2 in our party for business lunch. We both ordered daily special - beef stew- thinking it would be easy and quick. After 30 min of wondering where our sever went to she finally came over and explained that a 16 top ordered just before us. 15 mi later food arrived. It was a huge portion. Must have been 6 cups of stew. What a waste. Tasted good at the time ( we were hungry) but later that afternoon we had the worst case of indigestion. Not sure what was in the stew but wouldn't recommend.
Not planning on returning.
The guys playing music were so loud people had to yell to hear across the table. Since everyone was yelling the band had to play louder... Not enjoyable. The waiter stated that they have had many requests for them to turn down the music but would not. The band should learn that they are background music not the entertainment. I would not recommend this place to anyone.
The atmosphere at Barlow's is awesome. We went for Sunday brunch and it was a calm scene with several young families. The bar area is huge and I can see how it could be a popular spot for sports fans. I would definitely go there to watch my favorite sports teams. The food was good, nothing too amazing but good. The cocktails are excellent :)
A group of us went for brunch. There were 6 of us, but the place was pretty quiet. We got our first round of beverages and then didn't see a waitress for 25 minutes. I'm not exaggerating... The restaurant was not busy enough to warrant this. We finally asked the host if he could take our order. Then we had other people take a one drink order but that was it. Shame because it could have been a good experience
