Barley Mill Pub
Everything was great except for the extremely noisy kids hockey team that was not far from us at the fooseball table. Any other night I would have minded but it kind of ruined date night on Valentine’s Day.
Ordered Valentine Special $23 Seafood Medley. It was 2 cups of broad noodles, 7 mussels and 2 of tiniest scallops in the world + piece of garlic toast. This is unacceptable. Staff offered 5 prawns (very tasty) to make up the lack of seafood. Other restaurants with seafood medley include vegetables and all kinds of fish. Do not order this dish at Barley Mill! We spent next two days fighting a virus unfortunately. The Cranberry Flatbread was quite good.
We were seated at a table beside a group that was allowed to shout & holler. Very loud. Very hard to enjoy our dinner.
The prime rib was very thin and less than what we have had . We took friends along bragging about the prime rib, then it came very thin.
We get it is a pub but it is also classified as a family pub.
Not pleased at all! When we showed up no one at the pub acknowledged my reservation, the waitress said that Open Table didn’t call them to book the reservation, even manager had no idea that i have reserved the table two days earlier. Fortunately we did get a table but food we have ordered wasn’t what we expected! My friends ordered special of the day which came in almost cold, had to send it back and the waitress didn’t replace it just warmed it up. We where not impressed! I don’t think we’ll be going back!
Good for a late meal of good quality, but it can be very noisy. Excellent teas.
Was pleasant....the food was good.....hot both in temperature and flavour...to my liking. Would have been nice to have something other than sauce, chicken and rice in the Butter Chicken. Naan bread was nicely fried. Will go again and try other things.
Definitely! The food was great, as was the service! We have been there several times, small and larger groups, and have always enjoyed it!
they never got our reservations but there were tables available. other then that it was great as always. got the fish and chip special. wasnt a huge fan of it but overall thier food is super good
Our waitress was super. She was so friendly and accommodating. The table we were seated at was not very good, the way we had to sit.
We would recommend the Barley Mill, however, we all thought the seating needs improvement. It was hard to talk to everyone.
As always food was delicious. I had friends visiting from out of town, they loved their meal as well. It was crazy crazy busy, but our server was quite attentive once our menus were given. Still my favourite pub.
We made a reservation which happened to be on a UFC fight night. Little did we know that reservation would not be valid. Luckily we got there early enough there was a spot available for us anyways.
Had a good visit, great atmosphere. Our waiter was great, informative and non intrusive. My calamari was a bit saltier than I like but still good, everyone else’s food was amazing.
We had a great evening. Food was amazing, service was spectacular and it wasn’t too busy which made the experience even better. Loved the Big Crunch Burger, might be wrong name lol.
Corey was the best. We brought a bday cake which made the event take a bit more time, but we were welcomed back and that made the whole nite for me. The bday boy also had a great time. Thank you for having us.
We were there for the Grey Cup and had great seats right in front of the big screen. Great pub food and excellent service. Food was quick and hot even with the large crowd that was there.
Great service, good value, enjoyed the ribs, great choice of food on the menu.
It was very good. We all had fish and chips. It was fresh and not over cooked. Delicious.
Staff were awesome. The only thing better was the food. Yum!
The Filet Mignon meets fine dining standards, considering that it was cooked in the pub.
My Husband and I came on a small holiday to Penticton and went to the pub to have a dinner and to watch UFC. Though, when we first walked in the pub , we were not greeted . I understand that it's "seat your self.. " but I reserved a table and didn't know where to go or who to ask. My husband and I asked two different employee's where or who to speak to and we were some what brushed off... ( first time in this area and this pub btw) Finally was told where to sit.
Food was great! Service was great ( second server) Loved the pictures on the walls and bathrooms were soo clean. Would loved to sit outside but that's ok as the tv's were inside. Smoking area was small but very clean and people were so friendly. We had the prime rib... and omg! YUM! Though didn't care for the seasonings on the veggies and could of been just alittle more mashed potatoe... but it was great! ( sorry. <3 my mashed with prime rib .. )
If we go back to Penticton.. ( thinking in August ish ) We will be coming back to this fine pub!!! I already miss the area and craving there prime rib!!!! and the caesar salad!!!! So worth the 4 hour drive!
So all in all it was perfect! If I could give some advice.. maybe not have the smokers just right outside the main entrance? I am a smoker myself but it was not appealing to walk threw 15 people when there is a beautiful area in the back to smoke... ??
kicked off a bachelorette weekend at Barley Mills pub! Loved that I was able to reserve a table for a large group online!! Barley Mills pub exceeded our fun atmosphere expectations and we all had a blast participating in Karaoke night (The DJ, staff and other guests were kind to us even though we were terrible singers and very loud!) drinks and food were great and very affordable!!
Great ambience, good food. Nice big fireplace. Happy customer
Our first visit....we just moved here( Penticton) my husband and I shared the special of Sunday night( 2 pieces of cod with fries) WOW! It was huge and very delious . All for 11.99.
Our waitress was very nice and friendly. We met locals there .
The Barley Mill people do not regularly check the Open Table so did not have our table ready for us. I suggested they not use Open Table if they are not going to check it regularly.
We had a fun relaxing evening. The drinks were a little slow coming but the food was great. We had a great time and we'll be back soon.
It was a great night for my sons 19th birthday, the upstairs waiter was awesome.... he did everything to accommodate us. He even let us stay up stairs when they closed because my daughter was under age and couldn't go downstairs to see her brother sing. We moved by the stairs so she could hear the karaoke. Then at about 10:30 I took her home and came back to listen to more karaoke. It was awesome except the waitress downstairs didn't even come around to our table of ten to serve us for an hour( my sister had to go up to a manager and complain and she was there every 10 minutes but by that time we didn't really want anything by that time). So we just continued singing and dancing. We all had a blast, and both my kids could enjoy the karaoke.
Waitress thought we were a different reservation then was upset that she didn't ask our names and sat us where the other reservation requested..not my fault but then she seemed upset at us the rest of the time as if we had anything to do with her mistake, especially since i had to show her that we had a reservation that she couldn't find in their system. Food was typical pub food, beer was good.
The service was great the food was great loved the new menu prices were good! Celebrated our daughters 20th birthday it was awesome !!!!!
Hadn't been to the Barley Mill in several years. Saw the sign for Tuesday night ribs and decided to go in. Not disappointed at all. Good food and good craft beer on tap. Service was very good and I wasn't bothered by the billiard players etc because the lay-out is small group and individual friendly. A good place to get away to...
Food was great and had a ton of fun with friends. Music with Karaoke was a little loud as we were right by the stage. Probably better if we sat farther away.
The food was warmed over and really really average. The beer tastes like the lines haven't been cleared in weeks. Add indifferent service and there is no reason whatsoever to go back.
This place was a dirty dingy run down place and not in a cool retro way, in a hire a cleaner way. Avoid at all cost period.thouhht homemade food on the menu meant it would be a nice place inside too but was wrong, very average food, beer was good.
The staff need to learn about open table procedures and learn the menu. We enjoyed the different beers.
Our server was excellent and very attentive to our needs without being intrusive. Food, as usual, was what one would expect from a good neighbourhood pub.
