Barclay Prime Ratings and Reviews
So amazing. Brought my boyfriend here as a surprise & asked ahead of time to order the cheesesteak for him so he'd be extra surprised. The waiter was already on it & the cheesesteak came out shortly after we sat. He was so surprised, the sides were delicious, and I had the roasted chicken which was also real good. Best waiter & so worth driving 2 hours & spending that much money.
We went to Barclay Prime for our 4th wedding anniversary. Our waiter, I believe his name is Alan, was great. Extremely knowledgeable and courteous. The food was delicious. My only complaint was the lobster bisque. Usually the lobster bisque is one of my favorites but this night the taste was off. However, when I expressed that I just wasn't a fan, Alan took it right off our bill which was great.
Also, they gave us a gorgeous desert with "Happy Anniversary" written in chocolate. It was very nice.
Everything we had was phenomenal. We had James as our waiter and he went above and beyond the normal service we are used to getting anywhere. The strip was perfectly cooked as was the chicken. They went out of their way to make sure we were satisfied. When we first sat down we were told it was about a forty minute wait for food and that was almost dead on for the wait, it was actually about 38. We had time for great conversation and relaxing. I highly recommend the s’mores creme brûlée. I also recommend this restaurant to anyone and everyone who enjoys not good but, great food. I can’t say enough about it. This is a must try for everyone!
Absolutely amazing ambiance. The food there was absolutely unreal. We started with the scallops which were small, but crazy tasty. My girlfriend had the NY Strip and I had the prime rib and both were cooked absolutely to perfection. I always get my steaks rare, but the waiter suggested that due to the cut of the meat I got medium-rare and it was such a money decision. I would highly recommend asking the waiter what you should get your steak cooked at.
Desert was something to be desired, but the steaks and the sides (cream spinach, mushrooms, and truffel mac and cheese) were the highlight of the evening.
its going to run you around 250 - 500 so be prepared to drop some cash. But overall one of the best steak experiences that Ive ever had.
We had the best experience here! It’s such a cool space and the atmosphere/ambiance are amazing. We had dinner with our 10 month old daughter and they were very accommodating with setting up a high hair and getting us what we needed. The food was EXCELLENT! A philly must for sure!
I remember first going to the Barclay Prime years ago and it was a great experience. Since then I have gone a few other times also good experiences. It has been two years since my last visit and I live two doors down but I have heard of some issues with service lately. I had some friends come in from outa town and thought that this would have been a great time and opportunity to check things out. I choose a Wednesday as I know that midweek is a good time to get not only the food but the service as the restaurant was busy but not full.
The Good: The atmosphere is great, the food is good and the hostesses are on point and always friendly and attentive. When you call they are pleasant and accommodating.
The Bad: The service and the Sommelier. I order a $185.00 bottle of wine and ordered it from the Sommelier and discussed that it was a wine to be decanted. The wine came, he opened it and poured it for me to taste and then poured the others. When he came back to fill mine he spilled a little bit on the table. Not a big deal, but not something you expect at this level. Secondly he never decentered the wine. As far as our waiter, he simply did not appear that he wanted to be there that night. Trying to get our drinks before dinner was challenging and getting his attention during the evening was a daunting task. One of the signature items of this restaurant is their selection of knives to use for your dinning experience. When the waiter came by with the knives he simply showed up with the box and said select one. I asked him about Porsche knife he said he have. I then had to ask him to explain the ones he did have.
There are plenty of good steak houses within five blocks of Barclay Prime... I suggest trying them out as well when paying $50.00 for a steak. This not to say I wont go back, but when you have a bad service experience on a Wednesday night with guests, it leaves a "bad taste".
Had a great evening at Barclay Prime. My wife’s filet was a bit “off”. It had terrific flavor and was cooked to perfection, but the texture of the filet was a touch tough/stringy. We mentioned it to the waiter & the manager came right over to our table and told us the filet had been removed from our bill, even though she had eaten more than half of the filet. Amazing customer service!!! We would absolutely go back.
Service was horrible- it took so long for the food to get to us we had already killed one bottle of wine " reserved" for our meal- I got up several times to complain- I then had to go see the manager- very poor production from the kitchen- instead of addressing things directly our waiter hid. Bad performance at a restaurant that is usually great
Loved the ambiance and the service. The alcohol selection was good, but very pricy. We shared the scallops for an appetizer, and they were amazing. The complimentary rolls were delicious as well. I had the 8 oz Wagyu filet mignon and it was heavenly. Such flavor, it melted in my mouth. My husband ordered the lobster, which was good, but absolutely drenched in butter. The scalloped potatoes were ok, but not something I'd recommend. We had sorbet for dessert, which was good but very sweet. A few complimentary macaroons were brought out with the bill, and they were tasty.
Pretty delicious place to try. The service was wonderful. The staff are so very accommodating and friendly. Originally we were sitting near the front entrance and it was pretty windy and cold that night so we were def catching A draft every time someone walked by. One of the hostesses noticed and offered us a new table without us having to say anything first! The bread/rolls which are called "popovers" were amazing...they were warm, crispy and oh so tasty. My boyfriend got the filet which was fabulous. My New York strip was pretty tasty too, but I def should have went with the filet. For our sides we had the tots, Mac and cheese, and the cauliflower, which were just okay. We were there celebrating his birthday and they brought us a tiny piece of chocolate cake with a candle on the house. We also ordered the orange creamsicle cake which was nice and fluffy which worked well with not having much more room to eat. Next time, I'll try the cookie or the cheesecake. The wine list was a little pricey and I wasn't too impressed that they charge you $4 for steak sauce when you are already paying over $40-50 for a steak, but I guess it's all part of the experience. Overall it was a very nice restaurant, great customer service. I like Starr restaurants and look forward to my next one to try.
Everything was wonderful from the food to the service.....the wedge salad was definitely a favorite along with the scallops. The cocktails were delicious and dinners and sides were amazing! The truffle Mac and cheese is a must! We will be back to try the cheesesteak!
The hostess was a bit snooty because we were a few minutes late for our reservation because of traffic even though we called to let them know. That was a bit off putting. And, to boot, the dining room was virtually empty. From that point on, we had an excellent experience as usual. We were seated at the table we requested, our server was affable and professional, and the service overall was top notch. The food is always excellent - the 40 day dry aged bone in strip steak is crazy good if you like that deep funky flavor the extra aging adds. We were very happy to be reacquainted with Jordan who we know from Il Pittore which closed a year or two ago.
Great food, excellent service, comfortable atmosphere. Not cheap and definitely a special night out but viewed in that light worth every penny.
