Barclay Prime Ratings and Reviews
Good but not great. I have been to this restaurant many times since it has opened. I would say that the service quality and food (other than steaks) has declined. Our server was less than adequate, however the support staff were awesome. Steaks were perfect, but the sides and appetizers were boring. I expect a once in a life time experience when I come to Barclay's Prime but it did not deliver. Don't think I will be back.
Waited 20 minutes to be offered wine. When finally offered wine, Som brought the wrong wine and tried to open before we viewed the label. Overall, food service was not attentive for the top tier prices they charged. Such a shame that the kitchen works so hard to produce great food and the front house completely blows it to overshadow the meal. Happy to pay exorbitant prices for exquisite service and food, but such is not the case. They need to turn things quickly or it is lights out.
Very disappointed. We attended dinner for our anniversary. The table we were given was awful. It was out in the open in the middle of a high traffic area by the rest rooms.
As a table for two for a special dinner it made our evening very less special. The management had fake empathy when I asked for a quieter table we were told they had nothing better available even though we made the reservation as a special occasion anniversary.
Not sure if the price was worth it based on the fact that evening was not enjoyable due to terrible table location.
Why ask what type of evening if you are not willing to make it a special evening with a nice table location.
The friendly smiles and caring attitudes. come across as patronizing. considering the staff is not willing to actually handle a problem or fix a problem why act that you care
This was my 5th time at Barclay in less than 12 months and every time the steak tastes just a little bit better than I remembered. Earlier this year, I had the luxury of eating at Pappas Bros in Dallas on Monday, Halls Chop House in Charleston, SC on Friday and Barclay on the Wednesday following.
Suffice to say, Barclay's Allen Bros, dry aged Strip Steak is the finest cut, preparation and seasoning of the 3.
Add to that the amazing ambiance, the enchanting hostesses and a highly competent and welcoming staff and it was yet another experience for the books.
I will be back... maybe next month!
This was my first time at Barclay Prime and i enjoyed my times there. It was beautiful inside and comfortable. It was a little dark for my liking however i didnt mine. The food was very good everythingi tasted was Delicious. We had the salmon, roasted chicken, steak, grilled broccoli, bake potato, whipped potato, and the cream spanish. I would recommend this place to anyone.
Great meal! Caviar was excellent, scallops and lamb perfectly cooked and delicious. Servers were friendly and timely. The fried green tomatoes on the side of the scallops appetizer should be a primary item on the menu. I could have eaten a plate full! I'll be back.
What happened here? My wife and I have been celebrating anniversaries here for years. Always highlighted by the utmost service experience. Glenn was our requested waiter for years and he always made attending a special event. We had moved our annual celebration around from year to year the last couple years as we had concerns about our steak for two consecutive years. This year it was our 20th so we went back to Barclay. While the food was spot on, (kudos!) what has happened to the service? Our waiter followed the "TGIFriday's" manual of service. "Hi I'll be your server, what kind of water... ", OK, and then the bread came... 43 minutes after we met the serve (He said his name so fast, we didn't even catch it)!! Our reservation was at 9:00 so our first bite of anything didn't come until 9:43 pm. I asked questions about the menu having years of Barclay experience, and our server answered with generic answers, never asking if we had been there before so that was why we were asking why certain things weren't there or things had changed. The knife presentation, always entertaining, was an afterthought, no flavor or excitement put into it. Drinks were slow unfortunately. The food was awesome, so that was great, but dropping a large bill on a 20th anniversary celebration and return to Barclay, I know Glenn no longer waits there, but this was scripted, chain restaurant service, and it was bland and you expect much more for the bill one pays. Sorry, food was great, but not nearly worth the price or the lengthy drive due to the overall experience.
Had my boyfriends birthday celebration here. Food and service was good but was turned off because my Sprite came with a dirty cup twice. Both times cup smelled and tasted like coffee. Ended up not using the cup and drank the Sprite at room tempAture but waitress was nice enough to but a bottle in the fridge for my refill.
This visit was a dual purpose. Both 11 year anniversary and her 45th Birthday . Booked reservation 5 days out, left message for special occasion which was followed to the letter.
On arrival about an hour early, we checked in and went to the bar. Romantic atmosphere, light music, dim lighting. Taken to our table by an usher right on time for our 945pm booking. From the waiter to the desert and candlelight surprise by the staff at the end everything was awesome.
While my wife was in the bathroom the head of the floor even came by to check on us to make sure that everything was on par. Parking was steep but its the city on a Saturday. I would definitely go back.
I would not recommend, especially for this price. I am very accustomed to fine dining. This was not. Although atmosphere was nice, I waited over an hour for my food. Nobody even checked on us. Finally asked the manager to check on it. I ordered an expensive bone in filet that was charred on the outside and not so tasty on the inside. My dates filet was cooked improperly. By that time we just wanted to eat and go. Maybe I am spoiled by finer places but I say, Save your time and money!!
SUB-par service and food hit or miss, poor presentation on the infamous cheesesteak, caviar lid and oysters were especially bad. Have 5 west coast oysters and 1 east coast with servers pretending that the 1 east coast wasn’t different and we were wrong. Hand off between servers mid- dinner without explanation and NEITHER introduced themselves ever. Took FOREVER to get salad and oysters, and bill. Over priced and POOR service ending to what should have been a great night and $450 bill. RIDICULOUS. And hostesses didn’t have GM’a card... unlikely. Left feeling like 2nd class citizens.
Over cooked steak, multiple waiters who were not coordinated and would ask us for the same thing twice, way too much salt, and it was so funky lit it was hard to see anything. So many other steak house options in the city there is no reason to ever go back here.
The steak was cooked perfect and was delicious. My wife had the crab cake and could only finish half, the rest came home. We tried a couple different drinks and they were great. Our server was phenomenal. Very knowledgeable about the plates and very accommodating. Only drawback was the table which was at the entrance to the dining room and we were seated behind, as open table puts it, a rather energetic table.
As always, our recent meal was truly memorable. The quality of the food is outstanding. Our server, Glenn, made us feel very comfortable and welcome. He helped make my birthday dinner an even more special occassion. We have never had any reason to be disappointed at Barclay Prime. We go there each time we visit Philadelphia, and wish we could go more often.
