Exceptional food, wine and service.
We had the Tomahawk Ribeye for two special, tater tots and Caesar salad. The steak as a bit under-done for my liking, but I think it was true to medium rare...probably better off getting medium. (Red, cool center...definitely raw) Tater tots and Caesar were awesome. Wine recommendation was perfect for the meal as well, a delicious grenache.
We dined at Barclay Prime on Saturday, March 17, 2018. The restaurant is warm and low-lit with an old-world library feel. The servers are all professional and energetic, excited to explain the menu. To start, he had a selection of raw oysters which were very fresh, and I had the seared diver scallops with a fried green tomato and maple bacon jam which was perfectly cooked and seasoned. For the entrees, he had the Wagyu Ribeye, and I chose the Wagyu NY Strip. This was the BEST steak we had EVER eaten...by leaps and bounds! As an extra special touch, we were presented with a selection of specialty steak knives to choose from for our Wagyu experience. Also, give the house made tater tots a try...you won't be disappointed! I highly recommend this restaurant to avid carnivores and pescatarians alike. The selection of fish entrees was very tempting, and our appetizers were impressive. Our compliments to the chef and our wonderful server Matthew!
Awesome as always. Looking forward to next time!
WOW! What a amazing dinner... food was great our waiter Matt was amazing and very knowledgeable about the restaurant and the food. Highly recommended this restaurant.
It was wonderful
Second time we have been there and it has not disappointed! Love this place
In fine dining remember less is often more. This applies to portions not to price though. You definitely get what you pay for. I recommend taking your time and fully enjoying every course and trying s little bit of as many dishes as you can and accompanying each dish with a great beverage selection. Enjoy!
Fantastic meal made better with excellent service . I had wayu beef that was out of this world! I love their dessert of homemade ice-cream served a special cookie. Expensive restaurant and worth every penny
Food was great, I was upset at the fact that I ordered a bottle of caymus for $300 and the manager repeately opened the wine menu and asked me 3 times if the price was okay after I said yes I know what the price is. He then comes back with the bottle of wine opens the book again and pointed at the $300 price and then says the wine just went up to $400! My wife and I argued the fact that it was not our fault and they agreed it give me the bottle at $300 this one time! This was the only problem I had with the restaurant other then that we ordered the $120 cheesesteak, the foie gras and the A5 waygu ribeye which were all amazing.
The food was incredible. The atmosphere is sexy and elegant. Our server was so accommodating and professional. A++++
Our night here started on a rough note. We arrived a few minutes before our reservation and told the hostess we’d be in the bar. After waiting 40 minutes, I asked the server what the issue was when the restaurant wasn’t at capacity yet we were still waiting for a table. She quickly seated us but never offered a reason as to the extended delay. Once seated, service was slow to start but did improve as the night went on. We ordered two starters, an appetizer, filet mignon, New York strip and two desserts. All the food was delicious and came out as ordered. As for price, some items were priced accordingly while others were an obvious overcharge. Simple mixed drinks like Tito’s and soda was $16 each while my bourbon drinks were $15.5. I understand a bat is where a restaurant can make some mo eh hit this is a bit ridiculous. Sides and starters were a bit expensive for what you got while the desserts were appropriately priced. If you’re looking to spend a large amount of money at your run of the mill steakhouse, then Barclay Prime is a small step above most chains like Ruth Chris and The Capital Grill. In the future, I’ll skip over this place for Starr’s other place Butcher and Singer. It’s slightly cheaper, nicer space, and staff more capable of doing their job.
I really do love this place, there was one surprising misstep on this visit. The atmosphere is modern & sleek but comfortable, the staff is always incredibly on point...kind & knowledgeable hitting just the right note of interaction, seamlessly providing an elegant and undisturbed evening of dining. I was there with 2 friends and we started with the Hamachi dish & the Crab dish...both were exquisite...the hamachi was buttery and succulent...the crab was chilled and perfectly prepared. For entree I splurged for the Bone In Filet which was a little overcooked but still acceptable. My friends meat was overcooked but we didn't want to send it back and wait for his to be prepared again so we just dealt with it. The staff was very forgiving and did offer to remove it from the bill which was a nice gesture. But honestly for the price & the level of service at a STEAK oriented restaurant I don't see how his meat even made it out of the kitchen. It was CLEARLY cooked through with no red...i dare say medium well...and he had clearly requested, and waitress confirmed, that he requested medium rare. I'll chalk this up as an oddity. Hopefully my next visit it will be perfect.
Beef carpaccio was easily the best dish, as good as any we’ve tasted. Cavatelli. Tuna tartare, filet, lamb chops and crab cake were each very good, but not special. Dover sole was also good but far from the high praise my wife usually gives that dish elsewhere. Wines were good and pricy. So, no complaints but ....
We were a party of 5, business dinner. First the steaks were all prepared to perfection; great flavor and texture. The sides "for sharing," though very flavorful, are individual sized. Not nearly what is typical at other leading steakhouses. They caused a brief bit of awkwardness upon arrival. Service, though very friendly, lacked focus. The appetizers were confused, not correctly prepared (i.e. 2 vs. 2 dozen oysters) and others waited for the selections to finally all arrive. Again, everything tasted wonderful. My overall suggestion, nice location and environment. Bar staff not nearly as friendly as the restaurant. To entertain with a "wow" expectation, I would not choose here. It would be fine for a simple 2 person date.
Me , My Husband enjoyed ourselves for his birthday first time here was great .
Service was great, food was good but thought it was overpriced.
Amazing place. Great food. Phenomenal ambiance.
The food was above average. The tables were packed in tight. The service was amateurish and clunky. Overall- not worth the price...
Service was excellent! Food was tasty. Ambiance had a romantic feel. I loved the dining chairs, very comfy. Cheesesteak was the best I have ever had. Overall a great experience.
I decided to take my husband there for his birthday. It was a great dining experience. The food and service was amazing. It's on the pricey side but is well worth it. I have already planned another outing at Barclay Prime with my adult children. It has become one of my favorite restaurants.
Old flat champagne for a birthday celebration??? Plus poor selection.
Wagyui sliders were too dry. Overrated restaurant.
The atmosphere, service, and food were delicious. They had a Wagyu ribeye cap as a special and it was phenomenal.
Get the cheesesteak! Great meal all around! Service fabulous
Awesome as always!
Had a fabulous dinner for a birthday celebration! Glen, our waiter was wonderful!
Great food and service. Only reason I didn’t give Barclay Prime 5 stars is because the bathroom was not clean.
Barclay Prime is an amazing steakhouse. Great ambiance and perfect for a date night or special occasion. Get ready to spend but it’s 100% worth it.
Absolutely amazing every bit of our experience was perfect!!!
So amazing. Brought my boyfriend here as a surprise & asked ahead of time to order the cheesesteak for him so he'd be extra surprised. The waiter was already on it & the cheesesteak came out shortly after we sat. He was so surprised, the sides were delicious, and I had the roasted chicken which was also real good. Best waiter & so worth driving 2 hours & spending that much money.
We went to Barclay Prime for our 4th wedding anniversary. Our waiter, I believe his name is Alan, was great. Extremely knowledgeable and courteous. The food was delicious. My only complaint was the lobster bisque. Usually the lobster bisque is one of my favorites but this night the taste was off. However, when I expressed that I just wasn't a fan, Alan took it right off our bill which was great.
Also, they gave us a gorgeous desert with "Happy Anniversary" written in chocolate. It was very nice.
Everything we had was phenomenal. We had James as our waiter and he went above and beyond the normal service we are used to getting anywhere. The strip was perfectly cooked as was the chicken. They went out of their way to make sure we were satisfied. When we first sat down we were told it was about a forty minute wait for food and that was almost dead on for the wait, it was actually about 38. We had time for great conversation and relaxing. I highly recommend the s’mores creme brûlée. I also recommend this restaurant to anyone and everyone who enjoys not good but, great food. I can’t say enough about it. This is a must try for everyone!
An Exceptional meal and a wonderful dining experience.
Our experiences here are always outstanding from food to service. It is expensive but the food is delicious and never disappoints.
Food felt rushed because it was valentines, but the service was excellent
This was probably the best place we have ever eaten. Everything was perfect, but the scallops were really outstanding. The dessert was also wonderful, with many small touches creating a delicious ending to the meal. Highly recommended.
Absolutely amazing ambiance. The food there was absolutely unreal. We started with the scallops which were small, but crazy tasty. My girlfriend had the NY Strip and I had the prime rib and both were cooked absolutely to perfection. I always get my steaks rare, but the waiter suggested that due to the cut of the meat I got medium-rare and it was such a money decision. I would highly recommend asking the waiter what you should get your steak cooked at.
Desert was something to be desired, but the steaks and the sides (cream spinach, mushrooms, and truffel mac and cheese) were the highlight of the evening.
its going to run you around 250 - 500 so be prepared to drop some cash. But overall one of the best steak experiences that Ive ever had.
Went to celebrate my brothers 21st birthday. Great night from start to finish!
Food was very good but pricey. My filet was done perfect.
We saw this restaurant featured on television for one of its dishes and decided to try it. We went for New Years Eve. I chose this restaurant for my birthday this month as well. It is now my new favorite restaurant!
