COME SAVOUR THE BOUNTIES OF SPAIN! In the heart of Clayton, this Spanish translation of "a neighborhood bar" is always busy with people at the bustling Bar or on the patio on Central Avenue. Bring your friends in for a glass of Sangria to share the gossip of the day. As the Sangria gets the juices flowing, you will want to enjoy some tapas!
Here you get the true Spanish Fried Artichokes with Romesco sauce, baked Goat cheese melted in tomato sauce, grilled Beef tenderloin, Pinchos, peppered Tuna in a red wine and balsamic reduction or plate of Serrano Ham, Mahon Cheese and Spanish Olives.
Service was extremely slow. Had great wines but not great wine glasses.
We went a few years ago and it was like deja vú...the food was great, the drinks were phenomenal, and even the owner came out to chat and see how our meal was! So sad to hear they’re closing down for development, but rest assured when they open up again we WILL be back!
After initial disappointment with the host (he ignored us for several minutes as he was messing around on his phone - and was very unfriendly), we had a great meal. Our server was fantastic and the food was amazing!!
Good food and good service. But we were seated outside and I had seat facing an abandoned building with tarps draped over interior windows. For a good restaurant with moderate prices, this ruined the ambiance for me. Recommendation to BARcenlona: stay on sidewalk by your restaurant.
Well established restaurant that always impresses. Excellent outdoor dining in the heart of Clayton.
Checked multiple locations for current hours which were conflicting as to their open status and finally made the reservation since I couldn’t fathom that tables would be available to make a reservation for tipped the scale into ‘open’ status. However, when we arrived it was clearly not open. It was very disappointing.b
The restaurant was closed for a time that I set my reservation for. Also, there’s a ton of construction going on everywhere and it’s a mess to park there.
Food is excellent on point
Service needs help!
Always great food and great service
The food was awesome! We ordered 4 different small plates and shared. They were served quickly and were all delicious. They all had enjoyable complex flavors. We ate outside, the wait staff wore masks, and tables were space out to maintain social distancing. We really enjoyed our night out.
We made a reservation were sat at a lovely table outside. The waitress was very accommodating and the food we ordered was delicious!
THE place to be after work cocktail hour happy hour food is great the atmosphere is already set you just have to get there !!
This is our go to tapas place in the St. Louis area. The food and service are consistently excellent and when the weather is nice, we love to have our meal outdoors.
No covid 19 precautions
Enjoyed being able to share different dishes. Great food and friendly server. We will go back.
Fantastic choices on the menu and the results were very well done. Had been to the Indy location and happily discovered that the Clayton location is just as wonderful.
We ordered different tapas and they were all delicious except the calamari that it was so so
Fantastic food. Everything plate from beginning to end was perfect. Tapas is a great way to share a meal with friends.
Where did the other half of the menu go? Used to be my favorite place but the menu shrank to half of it's old size and some of my favorite went with it.
We had a reservation and were seated promptly. 10 mintues, no water or server and were moved to a different table. After 5 more minutes a hostess dropped off waters like they were live grenades. We left after another 5 minutes. 20 minutes without seeing a server.
I've been there before, and the food is good. I have no idea what happened to this place. We went somewhere else.
So sorry to hear this. Of course, we are better than that, as our reviews show, but, yes, it does happen sometimes. I am just so sorry when it does and especially on Valentine's Day. My sincere apologies. I hope to see you again, though. Please ask for Frank if you come in again.
I respect it was valentine's day but the back of the house (kitchen) was completely overwhelmed thus delaying our tapas for more than 90 minutes - several tables surrounding us had similar experiences
The taste of food was excellent BUT unacceptably slow with NO EFFORT to service recover the situation
Probably the slowest service I’ve ever had at a restaurant. It took us an hour and 40 minutes after we sat down to get our first order of tapas. At that point, we were afraid to order anything else because we may end up being there for even longer so we left hungry. However, 3/4 of the items were delicious. Don’t order the mushrooms. They seemed to be taken out of a can and dropped in a dish.
The food was really good. Atmosphere, ok but a little loud. Probably normal for a smaller restaurant. Service was slow. The servers were working hard, just didn't seem to be enough. Seats near the windows are really cold due to drafty windows.
We enjoyed a lot the food and music as well but I we didn't like too much the service and cleanliness of the entire restaurant including bathroom 😔
The menu has changed. The food was good. Service was friendly but slow. They were’t packed for a Saturday night.
Always amazing....Josh the bartender is the best in the city! Can't wait to come back next time
Food was good but service was terrible. And we were the only people there!
We enjoyed the 3-course offerings during Clayton Restaurant Week. The vegetarian paella was excellent. We’d like to come back to try more things on the menu which was extremely gluten free and vegetarian friendly. We had a reservation and glad we did, the place was packed (Saturday night).
The food was good and the service was decent. The quality of the food and the number of people that visit the place have declined since they announced their closure earlier last year.
The drinks (pitcher red sangria, margarita) were watered down and the food was bland. I had salmon for restaurant week and a friend had steak, both were dry. Two other friends tried the veggie paella which was bland. We tried the bacon wrapped dates and both were soggy. The crostini lacked flavor as well. The goat cheese app was okay. Our waitress was very attentive at the beginning of the meal, but by the time dinner was served, she was hard to find. I will not be back.
Just wished we didn't have to hunt down our server so many times.
Fun and festive
Loved it!!! Obsessed with the goat cheese!
Large variety of excellent tapas. Decent wine.
Excellent food and wine! Very accommodating with vegan dietary restrictions. Will definitely go back for another visit when in town! Great personable service! Thank you!
Food and service were great. Very, very loud, no standard tables available, only bar height. I’d go back to sit outside or in the side? room.
We were seated in the main dining room, where they were also hosting a private party. By the end of appetizers, we were the only table not guests of the party, leaving us feeling like we were at the kids table at a reception. The waitress gave her best effort, but we frequently were lost in the shuffle. As the party ramped up, we could barely carry a conversation. At one point, the party photographer was basically seated at our table as he worked. All in all, an awkward meal, which we cut short because of the discomfort.
Second visit where the service was so slow we considered leaving. This time - we did. After sitting for 10 minutes with no server and a party of 30 set to take over our half of the restaurant we cut out losses. Had a great meal nearby. Would like to have eaten at BARCelona as the menu is so interesting but not worth the frustration.
We dined outside this past evening and the service was wonderful and attentive.
It was our first time to the restaurant(out of towners) and we sampled items across the board. The warm goat cheese appetizer in red sauce is accompanied by a great basket of crusty bread and a perfect start to the meal. Finger-licking good! Gazpacho was next and a perfect to enjoy the end of summer's bounty. Barcelona makes a spicy sauce for their potatoes and I think that was my favorite sauce of the night. Grilled asparagus, very tender tenderloin skewers with a nice horseradish aioli, and fantastic garlic shrimp with lemon rounded out our meal. House made sangria went well with all tapas!
