BARcelona Tapas Restaurant
Here you get the true Spanish Fried Artichokes with Romesco sauce, baked Goat cheese melted in tomato sauce, grilled Beef tenderloin, Pinchos, peppered Tuna in a red wine and balsamic reduction or plate of Serrano Ham, Mahon Cheese and Spanish Olives.
Food was bland. Tomato sauce had little flavor. Sauces served with the artichokes were odd (salsa and what tasted like tartar sauce). Red sangria was weak and flavorless.
Service started out slow and then they got it together. The food was amazing, hot, tasty, great presentation, and overall a great time.
Our server Gabby was FANTASTIC! VERY ACCOMODATING without being intrusive. Thank you for the dessert suggestion! Tres Leche cake was the way to go and the Dates......ohhhh the Dates! Everything was amazing for Sav and I. We will be back!
When I booked my reservation on open table I said it was my Girlfriends birthday on the additional comments section. Nothing special was done during our service. Service was generally very slow as well.
Wrong night to go. Stuck in a corner and forgotten. Drinks and food order were both lost and and so was our server. After about 45 minutes to an hour they said everything was on the house but the tapas they brought wasn’t even what we ordered. We couldn’t figure out what one even was. Fried mystery something. Luckily we enjoyed each other’s company so much that it didn’t ruin our night.
We used to love coming here for tapas, sangria and especially the tres leches. Prices have gone up while it seems portions have gotten smaller. The live music was way too loud. And the tres leches was disappointing.
We had a great meal but the live music was way too loud.
Went for the seafood pellea. It barely had any seafood in it. It was basically just mushy over cooked safron rice. Not worth the price or the trip over there
We have been here a few times and enjoyed it more. I was unaware of the limited brunch menu for the time we had booked, which is my doing, but several of the items (3 or 4) that we had ordered the restaurant was already out of at 1pm. Employees were all working hard, it just felt extremely understaffed.
Food as always was great but service was not good. We stayed and hung out with friends and no one ever came and cleaned our table off.
Always delicious food at BARcelona. We had a wide selection from meatballs to shrimp to our favorite patatas bravas. Perfectly prepared and the delivery of new dishes were paced very well. Service was great.
BARcelona is a great casual place to go with an eclectic and changing menu. Everything we are there we find something new to try and the food comes out very fast. We only do the small plates as there are so many great things to eat, that why would you stop at just one dish.
The food was fantastic. My wife and I went for our anniversary after having gone to Barcelona for our honeymoon. The food took us right back to Barcelona. The only negative of the experience was the temperature in the restaurant. It was sweltering in there. It was a hot day outside and I'm not sure if they were having A/C problems but we definitely would've stayed longer had it been cooler inside the place.
Service was lacking some...a little scatter brained this night. But the food was great!
Service was very nice. Food was very tasty, but sure got the impression everything was simply warmed up in the microwave. I understand that having a diverse menu makes it tempting to use microwave, but ..... maybe I'm wrong. But everything was very hot, just as if it came right out of the oven.
Barcelona was very good. At least the food was. The waitstaff tried to be helpful but was tough to flag down. It was very basic in it's decor, but the food was good! we will try it again.
Menu could expand to include some more items as selection feels quite small, and food, in general, could be improved with more seasoning. Ordered several plates, a couple the server forgot to order, and there was not one that stuck out where we would come back again. Decor is cute. Noise level is to be expected; lively and active for Saturday night at tapas restaurant.
Excellent. Best way to spend my 60th Birthday. We had so much fun and great amazing food. The only bad thing I would say was the Sangria didn’t taste like normal. Everyone at the table just thought it tasted like flavored water. Didn’t taste at all like wine was added. Besides that, everything was so yummy and fabulous!!!! Love Barcelona’s!!! One of my favorite places to eat and drink!!!
I’ve been to Barcelona many times. This is the first time that it was a horrible experience. Our service was horrible. We had to continually get other people (bus boy, guy that brought our food out, another server) to find our waitress for us and send her over. It was not packed nor busy. This is a tapas place. They should know that when people come for happy hour tapas; we are going to be continually ordering food and drinks. We had to work so hard to get apps. It was not fun. Also we asked for more garlic bread to go with our goat cheese. It got to be so long; we had to track down someone (again couldn’t find our waitress); and ask them about it. They brought us out some other kind of bread .. not the garlic bread that goes with the goat cheese. So that took forever to talk to someone and ask them to bring the right thing out. They finally did and it was burnt. I’m not even going to go on. Because I could. We were actually laughing because we couldn’t believe how terrible everything was. And the place wasn’t even a 1/3 full. SMH.
We frequent this restaurant often and made a reservation for a birthday dinner. The problem started when we made a reservation for 14 people and when we got there they told us they didn’t have seating for 14 people. When we eventually got a table, the wait staff was pretty rude and very slow. While the food was good, the service was terrible. I don’t think we will be back anytime soon.
Nice place to share Tapas, in Clayton area with a good variety of food to pick from
Easter Brunch was awesome! Great Spanish food!
Service was very slow, and server served our red wine chilled - that's not right.
Kitchen was excruciatingly slow getting food out, but it was very good when it arrived.
Took us 1 1/2 hour to get get two glasses of wine and 3 small plates that were all ordered at the same time.
Always good place to have a a fun relaxing night with friends. I would like to see little more real Spanish atmosphere. Not just latin music. Overall very good time.
Terrible service, inattentive staff, watered down drinks, dishes were way too sweet,
It was so so.
Place has great food, service wasn’t bad, but value was not as expected. Taste, temperature, flavor, and diversity of food was on point.
Nice choice of tapas
Reminds me of home! Love the food. This place never disappoints
The fish tasted spoiled.
Great service, delicious tapas food. Valentine’s date
Our waitress was great! She was quick even though they were super busy. The food was amazing, it’s a bit expensive whenever you add it all up but definitely worth it. Probably expect to pay around $30 per person. Had a great experience!
Excellent tapas/small plates. Best Ahi tuna ever, plus great pumpkin soup, wines, Spanish beer, etc. Only negative is the noise level from all the hard surfaces everywhere. A common problem with dining everywhere we go.
We all really enjoyed our meal at BARcelona. We had the paella and several small plates, all split 4 ways and had more than enough to eat. Our only complaint was that it was really too noisy. (But then, we think that's true with almost all restaurants these days.) If you are enjoying a wonderful meal with friends and family it would really be nice if one could hear each other and talk without straining our voices.
Good service and good food!
Good-tasting food that is not typical and filled us up at reasonable restaurant-week prices plus happy-hour drink prices still available with 6pm reservation. Wait staff was attentive. My tablemate would have liked the soup even hotter. Group of women seated at table next to us was loud. Parking in downtown Clayton takes time to find on a Thursday evening.
Music was at times a little too noisy, and my daughters meal was not hot enough. Otherwise everything was at its usual quality.
Our favorite tapas restaurant in St. Louis! Plenty of options for everyone whether you want hot, cold, vegetables, meat, healthy or comfort food. Save room for the tres leches cake. Reservations recommended, especially on the weekends.
We made a last-minute reservation for NYE and when we arrived, one of the party expected something different and almost made us walk out. So glad we stayed because the food and drinks were delicious. The dining room cleared out and our server kindly turned off the extremely loud music. We ordered the tortilla, mussels, shrimp, artichoke, lamb which we found was enough for 3 adults. Everything was delicious. Service was quick. Can’t wait to go back next time we’re in town.
